Description: Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network reports, that Roy Williams (questionable) will play and start for the Bears.
Insight: We can't recommend starting Williams, really, in any fantasy leagues unless you're in a 16-team NFC North only league, than he makes a low-end WR3. In all seriousness, this hurts the value of Johnny Knox this week as he'll be playing off the bench. The Bear WR situation is one to avoid this week.

Description: Roy Williams was forced from Sunday's game against the Falcons with a groin injury.
Insight: This is the opening that Knox needed to take away the #2 role from 'ole Roy. If Williams should miss any time, Knox's role will increase especially heading into week 2 against the Saints.

Insight: Roy Williams is now five seasons removed from his career year in 2006 and he hasn't shown any glimpses of regaining that form. We're not ready to give in and throw in the towel on Johnny Knox (who had over 1,000 yards in the offense in 2010). Knox is the better receiver and he outplayed Williams during the preseason, but Martz continues to play favorites. Keep an eye on the depth charts change, we'd stay away from playing any Chicago wideouts, but definitely hold on to Knox.

Description: Because they have no viable option at the No. 3 receiver spot as of now, the Cowboys may opt to bring back WR Roy Williams for 2011. SOURCE: ESPN DALLAS
Insight: Williams' $9.25 million salary due in 2011 will have to be cut drastically and we don't know if he will actually take one. Kevin Ogletree, who has been a fan favorite for awhile, could also push for the No. 3 spot.

Description: Cowboys WR Roy Williams will likely have to take a pay cut in order to stay in Dallas in 2011. SOURCE: DALLAS MORNING NEWS
Insight: Williams may have to take a considerable cut since he will be nothing more than the No. 3 behind Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. We wouldn't be surprised to see Williams be one of the first in line on the chopping block.

Description: The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports Williams is the most likely of the Cowboys' veterans to be cut this offseason.
Insight: Williams is scheduled to make $5.12 million in 2011, and with his role on the decline that looks likely to be too much money for him to stay in Dallas. (

Insight: Healthy or not, Williams was not a fantasy option after two-straight weeks of only two catches. It would be interesting if Sam Hurd started and actually played well against the Redskins.

Insight: Even the loss of Dez Bryant isn't helping Williams' fantasy value. He was never an option going against the Redskins.

Description: With Cowboys rookie WR Dez Bryant (fractured fibula) out for the year, WR Roy Williams is skeptical that his role will expand. SOURCE: ESPN DALLAS
Insight: "I do what I am supposed to do," Williams said. "Get my two balls a game and make the best of them." We guess Roy doesn't remember that he did absolutely nothing last year, even before Bryant was drafted. Sam Hurd and Kevin Ogletree are expected to see increased work, so don't overvalue poor Roy during waiver pickups this week.
12/7/2010 11:02:00 PM
Description: ESPN reports Williams is skeptical his role will increase with Dez Bryant (right ankle) now out for the season.
Insight: Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett has mentioned Sam Hurd and Kevin Ogletree as being in line for expanded roles, but made no mention of Williams. He is still not a good fantasy option. (
11/25/2010 10:02:00 PM
Description: Williams had five receptions for 83 yards against the Saints on Thursday.
Insight: Williams had a key fumble late in the game with the Saints then turned into the game-winning touchdown. That said, this was his most productive game since Week 6. (
11/15/2010 3:05:00 PM
Description: The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports Williams sounded resigned to the fact that he has been officially passed up by Dez Bryant.
Insight: Williams' fantasy value has fallen off a cliff since Jon Kitna took over under center for Dallas, and he is droppable in most leagues at this point. (

Description: Cowboys WR Roy Williams sounded like he knows he has officially been passed by rookie WR Dez Bryant after the win against the Giants. SOURCE: FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM
Insight: "Make the play when it comes my way. If it's blocking, if it's running a certain route and catching it and doing something with it, so be it. I'm just happy to be a part of this football team." In the three games Jon Kitna had started, Williams has caught four passes and averaged 20 yards a game, while Bryant has flourished with 19 catches, 91 yards a game and two touchdowns. He also caught two more scores in the game that Kitna relieved Tony Romo back in Week Seven. As long as Kitna starts, Bryant will continue to be his go-to guy. He has a huge matchup against the Lions this week. As for Williams, he is starting to look droppable in shallower leagues.
11/8/2010 12:04:00 PM
Description: The Dallas Morning News reports Williams said he feels fine after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Packers' safety Nick Collins on Sunday night.
Insight: Williams had just one catch in the game, and the emergence of Dez Bryant over the last few games has rendered Williams virtually useless to fantasy owners. (
10/26/2010 10:01:00 AM
Description: Williams was held without a catch, on just three targets, against the Giants on Monday night.
Insight: Williams had been very productive in recent games, and now Tony Romo is out. He has a favorable matchup against the Jaguars in Week 8, but he may not be startable unless you have a major bye week issue. (
10/18/2010 12:00:00 PM
Description: Williams had three receptions for 28 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings on Sunday.
Insight: Williams scored for the third straight game despite the low catch total, and he should be owned all fantasy leagues by this point. (
10/11/2010 11:04:00 AM
Description: Williams had six catches for 87 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against Tennessee.
Insight: Williams now has three touchdowns over the past two games, and should be owned in nearly all fantasy league by now. (
9/27/2010 10:01:00 AM
Description: Williams had five receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns against the Texans on Sunday.
Insight: Williams appears to be getting on the same page with Tony Romo, and is worth consideration as a WR3 right now in most fantasy leagues. (
9/9/2010 6:05:00 PM
Description: The Dallas Morning News reports former Cowboys' WR Micheal Irvin won't pick the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl until they bench Williams.
Insight: Rookie Dez Bryant, now that he's 100% healthy, should take over Williams' starting job fairly quickly. (
