Green Bay Packers 2014 Training Camp Preview

CAMP CONFIDENTIAL: You know the Packers are going to be able to move the football as long as superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers is under center but the defense has been a significant issue for a few years in Titletown and must be addressed.
Veteran defensive coordinator Dom Capers has looked like a coach behind the innovation curve in recent seasons but he'll get one more chance to prove the talent has been the issue in Green Bay, not the scheme.
The two big moves were bringing in veteran pass rusher Julius Peppers to complement Clay Matthews on the edge, and drafting rookie safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who should end up being a significant upgrade on the back end.
Expecting a player in his mid-30s who has always played with his hand in the dirt like Peppers to excel in space is the very definition of pounding the square peg in the round hole, though.
KEY OFFENSIVE ACQUISITION: The Packers didn't add much on the offensive side of the ball although second-round receiver Davante Adams is a big, physical wideout who should fit in nicely as the replacement for James Jones and become Rodgers' third option outside the numbers after Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb.
KEY DEFENSIVE ACQUISITION: Clinton-Dix, the No. 21 overall pick, is a natural center fielder and will fit in nicely opposite Morgan Burnett on Green Bay's last line of defense.
