Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions have signed veteran safety Chris Hope, the team announced Monday.
Hope, who will be entering his 12th NFL campaign, has started 113 career games and previously played under Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator during the first three seasons of the 32-year-old's six-year run with the Tennessee Titans from 2006-2011.
A Pro Bowl selection with the Titans in 2008, Hope spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons and totaled 26 tackles while making four starts in a reserve role.
Hope entered the league as a third-round draft choice of Pittsburgh in 2002 and spent four seasons with the Steelers before signing with Tennessee as a free agent. For his career, the Florida State product has recorded 716 tackles, 20 interceptions and 51 passes defended over 163 games.
