Named Second-Team All-American by both Walter Camp and the Associated Press following 2011 campaign, and recognized as the Butkus-Fitzgerald Big Ten Linebacker of the Year after Nebraska made the move to the league after residing in the Big 12 Conference...First-Team All-Big Ten Conference and a finalist for the Butkus Award as a senior, also a semifinalist for both the Bednarik Award and the Lott Trophy...Second-Team All-America pick by AP in 2010, a First-Team All-Big 12 unanimous choice and both the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year following a campaign in which he set a single-season Nebraska record with 152 tackles...Finished two-year career with the Huskers with 274 total stops, the fifth-highest tally in program history and the most ever in a two-year span for Nebraska...Began college career at Fort Scott Community College, although he originally signed with Middle Tennessee out of high school...Helped lead his team to the Juco national championship game in 2009 when he registered almost 10 tackles per game and made a total of 19.5 tackles for loss...Not highly recruited out of high school even though he helped lead Northwestern to a pair of Florida state championships, he showed great athleticism at the NFL Combine with an unofficial 40 time of 4.65, and also displayed an explosive vertical jump of 36.5 inches, but still his overall size is not quite ideal for the pro game.
