1/27/2015 1:27:00 PM
Description: Cavs backup center Brendan Haywood is questionable for Tuesday's game against Detroit due to a swollen left knee.
Insight: Haywood has zero fantasy value and can be ignored.
10/10/2013 2:39:00 PM
Description: Charlotte center Brendan Haywood is expected to sit out 12 weeks because of a stress fracture in his left foot. SOURCE: Rick Bonnell, Charlotte Observer
Insight: It sounds like we may not see Haywood until 2014. With Al Jefferson (17.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg for Utah in 2012-13) now on the team, Haywood doesn't present any fantasy value even when he's healthy.
12/28/2012 8:06:00 PM
Description: Brendan Haywood has seemingly fallen behind DeSagana Diop in the Bobcats center rotation.
Insight: According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Diop has come off the bench ahead of Haywood recently. Haywood only played three minutes last Saturday and picked up a DNP-CD Wednesday. He wasn't much of a fantasy option anyway but this puts him further away from fantasy relevance.
7/14/2012 8:09:00 PM
Description: The Bobcats claimed recently released center Brendan Haywood off waivers on Saturday.
Insight: Haywood (5.2 ppg, 6 rpg), who was amnestied by the Mavericks earlier in the week, will likely compete with 19-year-old Bismack Biyombo (5.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.8 bpg) for the team's starting center position. Neither player provides much in terms of fantay production.
7/12/2012 8:28:00 PM
Description: Dallas used its amnesty clause on center Brendan Haywood, who will now become a free agent.
Insight: After signing Chris Kaman, the Mavericks really didn't need Haywood anymore. He averaged 5.2 ppg and 6 rpg in 54 contests last season. At this point in the former North Carolina star's career, Haywood just isn't fantasy material.
3/30/2012 8:27:00 PM
Description: Brendan Haywood (knee) did get the start against Orlando Friday night.
Insight: We're not sure how long Haywood will be on the floor but odds are Ian Mahinmi's days as a fantasy fixture are over.
3/29/2012 8:59:00 PM
Description: Brendan Haywood (knee) has not entered the game for Dallas.
Insight: The first half is almost over so it's looking like Haywood won't see any action tonight. If Haywood doesn't play Thursday, he'll have a chance to make his return again Friday in Orlando.
3/29/2012 7:48:00 PM
Description: Brendan Haywood, who hasn't played in six games because of a knee injury, is active for tonight's game against the Heat.
Insight: Haywood is definitely the Mavericks' best option at center when he is healthy but expect Rick Carlisle to be conservative with Haywood in his return. Ian Mahinmi (6.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg) has been starting in Haywood's place and he should still get a good amount of playing time tonight.
3/26/2012 7:56:00 PM
Description: Brendan Haywood (knee) practiced Monday and is considered questionable for Tuesday's home game against the Rockets.
Insight: Haywood has missed 11 out of the Mavericks' 15 games this month, so we haven't seen much of the big guy lately. Haywood would probably bump Ian Mahinmi (6.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg) out of the starting five if he were to play on Tuesday.
3/13/2012 1:20:00 PM
Description: After missing four games with an ankle injury, Brendan Haywood is expected to return to the Dallas starting lineup tonight against Washington.
Insight: Ian Mahinmi heads to the bench and the Mavericks get their starting center back. Haywood doesn't score very often (just 5.6 ppg) but if you need help in the rebounding and shot blocking categories, Haywood is your guy.
11/30/2010 12:15:00 AM
Description: Brendan Haywood's line of six points, nine rebounds, and two blocks in 21 minutes was slightly better than Tyson Chandler's line of five points, eight boards, and a steal in 23 minutes.
Insight: Chandler was not in foul trouble and this game was a bit of a surprise following his last three gems. It will take more than one stinker to deter us from saying Tyson is not a must-own player. Haywood only has value in deeper leagues and is one of the better add-drop options in daily leagues.
11/27/2010 6:04:00 AM
Description: Haywood has been suspended for one game by the Mavericks for breaking unspecified team rules. He sat out Friday's game with the Spurs.
Insight: Haywood has had to adjust to a backup role and is only averaging 3.7 points and five rebounds. (
11/13/2010 9:05:00 AM
Description: Haywood came off the Mavericks' bench to snare 17 rebounds against the 76ers.
Insight: Haywood has been quiet this season in his reserve role behind Tyson Chandler, but he made his presence known against Philadelphia. If Chandler gets hurt, Haywood might be a nice pickup. (
10/7/2010 11:05:00 AM
Description: The Dallas Morning News reports that the starting center job is still Haywood's to lose. Tyson Chandler has been solid in training camp.
Insight: Haywood is coming off his best statistical season in which he averaged 9.8 points and 10.4 rebounds while with the Wizards. He is a bench center for fantasy teams, at best. (
9/29/2010 1:45:00 PM
Description: Utah coach Jerry Sloan said he expects Gordon Hayward SOURCE: Salt Lake Tribune
Insight: Hayward is only 20 and he probably will not be making an impact this year. The Jazz lost sharp-shooting Kyle Korver and Hayward could make his way into the lineup while Utah is down several scores and need treys. Ignore him for now in all but the deepest of leagues.
