Played a large part in pushing UCLA to the top of the Pac-10 for the third straight year and into the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive time as well...Westbrook, a Third Team All-Pac-10 pick after his sophomore campaign, was named the league`s Defensive Player of the Year and also placed third on the unit in scoring with 12.7 ppg as well...Led the Bruins in assists with 167 on the season and played more minutes (1,318) than anyone since the school began tracking such information in 1979...Appeared in all 36 games for UCLA as a freshman, yet averaged just nine minutes per game, which in turn made head coach Ben Howland declare his one-year improvement quite remarkable.
