Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams (illness) will miss Friday's game, according to James Ham of
Insight: Williams had a big game (26 points, 11 rebounds) on March 16 with DeMarcus Cousins out of the lineup but he scored less than 10 points in four games since then.
3/16/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams took advantage of DeMarcus Cousins' absence due to knee tendinitis Sunday to score 26 points and grab 11 rebounds.
Insight: Williams had a similar game on Feb. 28, putting up 26 points and 12 rebounds, but he followed that up with a high of 10 points in his last eight games. The Kings have been rotating Williams, Reggie Evans and Jason Thompson at power forward and none of them really has fantasy value when Cousins is healthy because he's such a high-usage player. If Cousins remains out Williams may be able to put up some fantasy-worthy numbers, but nothing close to what he did Sunday.

Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams will start at power forward Wednesday against the Sixers, according to James Ham of
Insight: The Kings have had a revolving door at power forward lately. They started Reggie Evans there Tuesday and Jason Thompson has logged 57 starts.
2/28/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams will start at the No. 4 at Jason Thompson at No. 5 with starter DeMarcus Cousins suspended for one game.
Insight: In 11 starts this season Williams is averaging 12.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.3 apg and worthy of a fantasy start if needed. This is a one-game opportunity only.

Insight: He's going to see a lot of playing time tonight with Rudy Gay out, assuming his ailing foot can handle the heavy workload. If not, Travis Outlaw should get some run.

Description: According to Jonathan Santiago of ESPN's TrueHoop Network, Kings coach Mike Malone said Derrick Williams will see playing time at both the three and the four. "I think a little bit of both," Malone said. "Right now obviously with losing Luc (Mbah a Moute), there's a void at the three spot. So Derrick is going to get time at the three and he's also going to get time at the four. We'll put him in as many positions as we can for him to have success and if that proves to be the four, then it'll be at the four. But right now, he's gonna play three for us and he'll also slide to the four at times."
Insight: Williams was traded from Minnesota to Sacramento for Luc Mbah a Moute Monday night. The former No. 2 overall pick averaged just 15 minutes, 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11 games with Minnesota this season. He never fit in with the Timberwolves due to the presence of PF Kevin Love, but he could see enough time with the Kings to be a fantasy factor this season.

Insight: Minnesota will receive Luc Mbah a Moute, pending a physical. Williams saw solid playing time last season while filling in for Kevin Love but now that Love's back, he's only getting about 15 minutes per game. It's possible the Kings could use him at the three though Williams is probably more suited to play power forward.
11/8/2013 8:36:00 PM
Description: Back spasms will keep Minnesota's Derrick Williams from playing Friday night.
Insight: The 2011 No. 2 overall pick is playing just 22 minutes per game this season and will have minimal fantasy value unless Kevin Love goes down.

Description: Minnesota forward Derrick Williams will have his option picked up for next season. SOURCE: 1500 ESPN
Insight: The 22-year-old will have a base salary of $6.3 million in 2014-15. Originally slated to open the year as the team's starting small forward, Williams may have to settle for a spot on the bench behind Corey Brewer.
4/17/2013 10:44:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams had 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting, six rebounds and four assists Wednesday in the season finale against the Spurs.
Insight: Williams only averaged 12.0 ppg overall in his sophomore season but he stepped it up with 15.3 ppg over his final 33 games.
Hot3/17/2013 9:45:00 PM
Description: Despite the returns of Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko to the starting lineup, Timberwolves power forward Derrick Williams scored 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting with seven rebounds and three 3-pointers Sunday against the Hornets.
Insight: After averaging 8.8 points on 41 percent shooting his rookie year and 9.1 points on 41 percent shooting over his first 41 games this season, Williams looked like a draft bust. However, an average of 17.4 ppg over his last 18 shows that there might be some hope for him to blossom into the star scoring forward he was expected to be. He'll continue to start at power forward until Kevin Love returns to action (if he returns at all this season).
Hot3/15/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams had 19 points with four rebounds and two threes Friday against the Rockets.
Insight: Minnesota's glut of injuries up front has led to Williams getting more playing time. He has taken advantage in a big way with averages of 16.7 points and 8.1 rebounds over his last 18 games. He has scored in double figures in 11 straight games.
Hot3/4/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: Derrick Williams led the T-Wolves with 23 points Sunday in a loss to Golden State and should continue to thrive as Minnesota only big man scoring threat.
Insight: With Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Love watching from the sidelines, Williams is playing close to 40 minutes a game and posting huge numbers. Over his last four games he's averaging 20.5 ppg and 10 rpg. There are not many 20-10 guys in this league.
2/24/2013 7:19:00 PM
Description: Derrick Williams led the T-Wolves with 23 points Sunday in a loss to Golden State.
Insight: The second-year forward is finally beginning to show us why he was selected with the second overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Clearly, he's earned head coach Rick Adelman's trust, having played 35 minutes or more in three of his last four games.
2/13/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams scored 24 points with 16 rebounds, two threes and one block in 37 minutes against the Jazz on Wednesday.
Insight: Despite starting 15 straight games, Williams' playing time is still erratic. That won't change when Andrei Kirilenko (quad) gets back in the lineup after the All-Star break.
1/17/2013 7:56:00 PM
Description: Derrick Williams will get the start at power forward Thursday against the Clippers.
Insight: Interim head coach Terry Poter has been toying with the idea of starting Williams over Dante Cunningham for a while and now he's finally making the move. Williams hasn't been overly impressive in his second season in the league (9.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg) but maybe he'll be able to blossom now that he's in the starting lineup.
Cold11/24/2012 11:30:00 AM
Description: Minnesota forward Derrick Williams sat out again Friday against Portland.
Insight: Williams was benched for Wednesday's game as well. With Kevin Love healthy again, Williams (10.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is facing an uphill battle for minutes and probably won't be a factor in fantasy anytime soon.
11/22/2012 3:19:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams didn't see a single second of action Wednesday with Kevin Love back in the starting lineup.
Insight: The message from Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman couldn't have been any more emphatic: Williams is going to be a non-factor with Love back in the starting lineup.
11/16/2012 10:57:00 PM
Description: After going just 4-for-24 over his last three games, Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams came to play Friday night. Williams scored 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, had seven rebounds and blocked four shots.
Insight: This is what fantasy owners (and the T`Wolves) have been waiting for. Minnesota has been crushed by injuries early this season so Williams should continue to get plenty of playing time. He's worth holding onto on potential alone.
11/10/2012 10:30:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams made zero of 10 shots from the field Saturday against the Bulls.
Insight: Williams, the 2011 No. 2 overall pick, came in having scored 29 points over his last two games but Saturday's performance won't buy him more minutes.
