Description: Knicks forward/center Kurt Thomas told the New York Post that it's 50/50 whether he'll be able to play in the postseason. Thomas was recently diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot.
Insight: Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire are both out with injuries so Thomas could have helped the Knicks down the stretch. Instead he'll be spending the rest of the regular season on the trainer's table. Thomas (2.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg) is the oldest player in the NBA and it's possible he could retire after the 2012-13 season.

Description: Kurt Thomas will start at power forward for the Knicks Tuesday versus Brooklyn.
Insight: Thomas started seven games in a row before moving to the bench Sunday against Denver but only played 10 minutes per game in those starts. He's merely a placeholder at this point.

Description: Kurt Thomas was the main man to fill in for Carlos Boozer by logging 35 minutes, scoring four, rebounding 13, and swatting two shots in the easy win over Atlanta. Taj Gibson only had eight points, five boards, and no blocks in jus 20 minutes.
Insight: Garbage time was a factor in this one, but we've heard this song before. The two will probably cancel each other out and with Boozer expected to be back soon, only daily league owners should even consider adding either of them.

Description: Kurt Thomas got offensive on Monday with 22 points, nine boards, five assists, a steal, and two blocks in 44 minutes.
Insight: Those 22 were a team high for the night in one of the most shocking developments of the night. He has been solid for deep leagues owners and should remain owned in said formats. Standard leagues shouldn't cut bait with any player that has value since Noah eventual return will send him to a reserve role.

Description: Kurt Thomas was in the zone on the glass by pulling down 18 boards to go with his four points and a block in 34 minutes.
Insight: Taj Gibson only played 15 minutes (nine points, five boards, and two blocks) and Thomas still looks like the better add while we wait for Noah to come back. Taj still has value for his blocking ability though.

Description: Kurt Thomas will remain in the starting lineup for the near future. SOURCE:
Insight: Thomas has played well thus far as evident by his five-block game earlier this week. He has a lot of miles on the tires and is unlikely to sustain this heavy dose of minutes. Taj Gibson should still be owned in most leagues, even though the outlook is looking bleak for him.
12/21/2010 11:27:00 PM
Description: Kurt Thomas got the start for the injured Taj Gibson and was solid with 12 points, eight boards, a steal, and five blocks.
Insight: Five swats? Nice. Taj Gibson should be back soon, so Kurt's value is extremely short term. Feel free to add him for the Bulls next game on Wednesday.

Description: The Bulls have signed Kurt Thomas to the vet minimum. SOURCE:
Insight: Kurt had some mild value last year with the banged up Bucks and he will need Noah and Boozer to be in street clothes for fantasy consideration this year.
