Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson is questionable for Friday's game against Orlando while dealing with a strained right hip flexor. Update: Johnson will not play Friday.

Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson is coming off a career-season.
Insight: He averaged 9.1 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 1.1 steals per game, 1.0 blocks per game, along with shooting .425 from the field and 79 percent from the line. These numbers show that Johnson can fill a stat sheet, and as a result be picked towards the end of drafts.

Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson (illness) is expected to start Sunday, according to the Lakers on Twitter.
Insight: He missed Friday's game due to an upper respiratory infection, but practiced Saturday. Johnson has received plenty of court time this season, averaging 9.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg and 1.1 bpg across 66 appearances.

Insight: He's battling an upper respiratory infection. Johnson has received plenty of court time this season, averaging 9.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg and 1.1 bpg across 66 appearances. Xavier Henry (10.0 ppg) will see more minutes in his absence.
Hot2/26/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson had 18 points, five rebounds, two assists, four blocks and four threes in 38 minutes Wednesday at Memphis.
Insight: There aren't many players in the NBA averaging 1.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.0 threes per game, and Johnson is one of them. He has played 34.4 minutes per game in February and averaged 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.8 threes, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals during the month.
1/5/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson injured a hip in Sunday's game and is expected to miss the Monday contest with Portland.
Insight: That will leave the Lakers extremely short-handed as Kobe Bryant didn't make the trip (rest). Nick Young and Wayne Ellington should see 30-plus minutes.

Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson is questionable for Tuesday night's game while he deals with gastroenteritis. SOURCE: Mike Trudell, Lakers.com
Insight: Nick Young is likely to start in Johnson's place. Since going off for 27 points in last month's win against the Pistons, Johnson has averaged a mere 6.6 ppg on pitiful 37.5 percent shooting. Fantasy owners hoping the Kobe Bryant injury would give Johnson's fantasy value a boost have been disappointed.

Description: Lakers G/F Wes Johnson totaled 27 points in Friday night's victory over the Pistons.
Insight: The win pushed Los Angeles over .500 for the first time in almost a month. Johnson (6-of-7 from three-point distance on Friday) prefers to play out on the perimeter so when his three-point shot is falling, watch out. When it's not, he isn't much of a scoring threat.

Description: Los Angeles G/F Wes Johnson suffered a strained foot over the weekend. SOURCE: Lakers on Twitter
Insight: The Lakers are calling him day-to-day. Johnson hasn't made much of an impact in his first three seasons but with Kobe Bryant out, he could see some minutes at the two in the early going.
7/15/2013 7:38:00 PM
Description: Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times reports swingman Wesley Johnson has signed a one-year deal with the Lakers.
Insight: After a tough couple of seasons in Minnesota, Johnson was a little better last year in Phoenix, averaging 8.0 ppg in 50 appearances. With Metta World Peace signing with the Knicks and Kobe Bryant out until December, Johnson should see a lot of playing time early in the season. He spends most of his time on the perimeter so expect him to shoot a ton of three-pointers.
Hot3/28/2013 9:58:00 AM
Description: Suns guard Wes Johnson has scored more than 20 points in two straight games. He made 9-of-16 from the 3-point line in those contests.
Insight: Suns interim coach Lindsey Hunter wants to get a good look at Johnson so he has given him decent playing time since late February. Johnson mostly collected DNPs over the first three and a half months of the season but he is averaging 13.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.6 threes and 30 minutes in March.
3/13/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Suns guard Wesley Johnson has started each of the last four games and averaged 14.3 ppg.
Insight: Suns interim coach Lindsey Hunter wants to get a good look at Johnson so he has given him decent playing time since late February. Johnson mostly collected DNPs over the first three and a half months of the season.
1/17/2013 2:48:00 PM
Description: Suns coach Alvin Gentry has mentioned Wes Johnson by name in each of the last two days as a player he would like to get more playing time.
Insight: Johnson has only played 16 of Phoenix' 40 games this season and averaged just over 7 minutes per game in that time. The guard has been behind Jared Dudley, Shannon Brown and Michael Beasley on the depth chart all season. An increase in minutes for Johnson wouldn't be good for the fantasy values of those three players.
11/1/2012 10:51:00 AM
Description: Phoenix is expected to decline shooting guard Wes Johnson's option for next season according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.
Insight: Johnson didn't see the court for a second Wednesday in the Suns' season opening loss to Golden State. His upside was high coming out of college in 2010 but so far Johnson has been nothing more than a role player in the NBA.
Hot10/20/2012 11:23:00 AM
Description: Suns guard Wes Johnson's strong preseason continued with a 15-point effort Friday night against the Thunder.
Insight: He's averaging a team-high 14 ppg during the preseason and appears to have surpassed Shannon Brown as the team's best option at shooting guard. Johnson was a nonfactor during his time in Minnesota (7.7 ppg in 144 games) but he could be poised for a breakout year playing in Phoenix's fast-paced transition offense, a system he thrived under while playing his college ball at Syracuse University.
7/28/2012 9:00:00 PM
Description: Shooting guard Wes Johnson was sent to Phoenix Friday as part of a three-team trade between the Hornets, Timberwolves and Suns.
Insight: Johnson underachieved during his two-year stay in Minnesota (7.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg in 144 games). Don't expect him to show a whole lot of improvement with the Suns next season.
10/14/2010 9:05:00 PM
Description: Still only 85 to 90 percent healthy from a hamstring issue he's been dealing with during training camp, he has still managed to impress Kurt Rambis with his defense.
Insight: "I'm more impressed with how well Wes has performed at the other end," said Rambis. He is averaging 12 points in 21 minutes in the preseason and is a great late round pick in fantasy drafts. (RapidDraft.com)
10/4/2010 7:02:00 PM
Description: Wesley Johnson joined Luke Ridnour, Michael Beasley, Kevin Love and Darko Milicic in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason game against the Lakers.
Insight: Johnson's status is up in the air as far as starting on opening night goes, but it likely depends on how he performs in the preseason. (RapidDraft.com)
9/25/2010 3:02:00 PM
Description: Johnson (hamstring) practiced on Saturday but then sat out the Timberwolves' scrimmage.
Insight: There is clearly no rush with their prized rookie as they will work him into the mix slowly. He is poised to contribute immediately and we will monitor him throughout the preseason to see how he progresses. (RapidDraft.com)
9/21/2010 11:04:00 AM
Description: The Minnesota Star Tribune reports that the hamstring injury that kept Johnson out of summer league is still troubling him.
Insight: Hamstring injuries can linger, but eventually Johnson will get on the court for the Timberwolves and start shooting. It's not a good sign that the injury is still hurting him as training camp approaches, but he may make a nice waiver wire pickup. (RapidDraft.com)
