Detroit Pistons (23-35) at Houston Rockets (39-19), 8 p.m.
(SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Rockets will try to regroup from a tough
loss against one of the NBA's best when they host the Detroit Pistons Saturday
at the Toyota Center.
Houston suffered a 101-93 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, as
Dwight Howard led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds. One game after
scoring 43 points in a win at Sacramento, James Harden was held to 18 points
in the finale of a five-game western trek (3-2).
"They made a couple of big shots and we missed shots. We couldn't generate
anything. We didn't play a very complete game. We have to quit throwing the
ball to the other team," said Rockets coach Kevin McHale said.
Jordan Hamilton scored 16 points for the Rockets, who had won 10 of 11 games.
The Rockets will also host the Miami Heat on their quick homestand and have
won four in a row as the host. They have a 22-7 record in Space City and sit
fifth in the West standings.
Houston is averaging 106.2 points per game and will face a Detroit squad
allowing 103.5 ppg.
The Pistons will close out their Texas tour and dropped a 120-110 decision at
San Antonio on Wednesday, as Josh Smith led the way with 24 points, Will Bynum
added 18 and Rodney Stuckey scored 17 points. The Spurs shot 53.7 percent and
scored 19 points on 15 Detroit turnovers.
"That team is a great team, they know how to capitalize on another team's
mistakes," Smith said of the Spurs.
Andre Drummond ended with 16 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while Brandon
Jennings had no points in 13 minutes of action and left the game with a toe
injury. He is listed as questionable and leads the team with 16.9 ppg.
Drummond is second in the NBA with 42 double-doubles.
Detroit has lost three straight and six of seven games, and is winless in its
last six games away from The Palace of Auburn Hills. The Pistons have a 10-16
road ledger this season.
The Pistons suffered a 114-97 setback to Houston at The Palace on Dec. 21, as
Howard powered his way to 35 points and 19 rebounds. Houston has won six
straight and 11 of the previous 13 games against Detroit, losers in seven
straight and 17 of 20 trips to Space City.
