Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ray Allen scored a season-high 25 points to
help the Miami Heat to a 113-104 win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
Allen also moved up the NBA scoring list by passing Allen Iverson (24,368) by
two points to move into 21st place.
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each notched 24 points for the Heat, who snapped
their two-game losing streak. Wade added seven assists in the win.
James Harden netted a game-high 30 points, while Dwight Howard contributed a
21-point, 14-rebound double-double and Patrick Beverley chipped in 15 points
for the Rockets, who have dropped three straight.
"I think we stopped doing what we did the first three quarters to get in the
game. The fourth quarter we were stagnant with the ball," Howard said.
Beverley nailed a 3-pointer with 4:26 left in the fourth quarter to take a
102-98 lead before Allen sparked a game-winning 15-2 run.
Allen hit a layup to give the Heat a 103-102 lead and then followed that with
a 3 that essentially won the game.
"Ray is awesome, the guy just doesn't need much time or space. He has been
huge for us," Wade said.
Earlier, the Heat led by as many as five in the first and Allen hit a 3 to
give them a 32-28 lead at the end of the quarter.
A 12-2 run early in the second staked Miami to a 44-33 lead just past the
midway point of the frame.
Harden responded with a trey that began a 12-4 run to get the Rockets back
into the contest. Beverley's dunk with 1.7 seconds left before half trimmed
the deficit to 57-54 at the break.
Harden sunk a pair of free throws early in the third to help Houston to its
first lead of the game and led by as many as four in the quarter, taking an
81-79 lead into the fourth.
Miami shot 40-of-78 from the field ... Houston went 37-for-75 from the floor
... Houston edged Miami on the boards with a 34-31 margin ... The Rockets had
a 54-40 edge in the paint ... Houston turned the ball over 16 times, while
Miami had 14 turnovers.
