(SportsNetwork.com) - The Orlando Magic are on quite an impressive role of late and they'll try to keep it going Wednesday night when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Magic are in the midst of a three-game winning streak, the second such of the season for Orlando. All three came at home, but the level of opponent is what has made the Magic's streak so remarkable.
The Magic opened with a 14-point victory over the Detroit Pistons, then followed with wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers, the two best teams in the NBA.
"I think this is just the culmination of guys coming to work and being intent on trying to get better," said Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn. "Staying after practice, being in tune in practice and overall pulling for each other every single day. There's no secret to it. That's what it boils down to and you just have to be committed to it."
The Pacers victory was the most recent as rookie Victor Oladipo scored 13 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Magic to a 93-92 win over Indiana.
Nikola Vucevic recorded a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double and Tobias Harris added 13 points for Orlando, which has won five in a row at home. It was Harris who had the dunk that sealed the win against the Thunder.
The Grizzlies got back into the win column on Tuesday with a victory over the Washington Wizards. They've dropped three of their last five and two of three on the road.
Even in victory, Memphis struggled on Tuesday. The Grizz blew a 16-point, third-quarter lead, but hung on for a 92-89 win at FedExForum.
Nick Calathes and Marc Gasol each had 18 points and seven rebounds for Memphis. Calathes added six assists while going 8-of-12 from the field in another solid fill-in start for the injured Mike Conley, while Gasol came through with a key late basket to help the Grizzlies.
"What he's doing right now in leading this ball club is absolutely tremendous. I'm so proud of him and happy for him." Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger said on Calathes.
Zach Randolph posted 13 points and 10 rebounds to the victory. Courtney Lee and James Johnson also finished with 13 points for a Grizzlies team, which overcame 19 turnovers.
The Grizzlies defeated the Magic by nine in Memphis on Dec. 9. The Grizz have won five in a row against the Magic, but are 1-3 in their last four trips to the Magic Kingdom.
