James, Durant named NBA Players of the Week

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Heat's LeBron James and the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant were named the NBA's top players for the period ending Dec. 1.

James led the league with 29.0 points, while shooting over 60 percent from the field and 46.7 from beyond the arc to help the Heat go 4-0 on the week. He also contributed averages of 6.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.5 steals.

James started the week off with a dominant 35-point performance in a 107-92 win over Phoenix on Nov. 25. He tallied 28 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in a 95-84 win over Cleveland two nights later.

Durant helped the Thunder go 3-0 last week by contributing two double-doubles and a triple-double. Oklahoma City's 113-103 over Minnesota on Dec. 1 was fueled by 32 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds from Durant.

He ranked second in the conference with an average of 27.0 points and was fifth in rebounding with 12.0.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Denver's Ty Lawson, Detroit's Andre Drummond, Golden State's Stephen Curry, Houston's Chandler Parsons, Indiana's Paul George, and Washington's John Wall.
