Hawks' Williams cleared to play
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com)- Atlanta Hawks guard Lou Williams, sidelined since January with a knee injury that required surgery, has been cleared to play and is listed as day-to-day.
Williams suffered a torn ACL in his right knee on Jan. 18 in a game against Brooklyn. He had surgery to repair the injury on Feb. 7 and had been sidelined ever since.
"It's been a long, long journey," said Williams. "I've learned a lot about myself. I'm really excited to get back out there and play a game."
The Hawks host the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. The team hasn't announced if Williams will be playing.
In 39 games last season, Williams averaged 14.1 points and 3.6 assists per game. For his career, the 2011-12 Sixth Man Award winner when with the Sixers has averaged 11.6 points per game over eight seasons.
