Davis leads Pelicans past Bobcats

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Davis had the best game of his young career, filling the stat sheet in the New Orleans Pelicans' 105-84 rout of the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday.

Davis contributed 25 points, eight rebounds, six blocks, six steals and four assists in the triumph, the Pelicans' first of the season. Davis shot 9-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

"I'm just trying to hustle and everything I need to do to help my team win," Davis said.

Tyreke Evans chipped in 15 points and seven assists off the bench, while Jrue Holiday had 14 points and eight helpers.

Kemba Walker was the lone Charlotte starter in double figures with 14 points. Ramon Sessions paced the Bobcats with 22 points off the bench and Jeff Adrien had 13 rebounds.

The Pelicans jumped all over the visitors from the opening tip. Walker scored the first eight Charlotte points as New Orleans went up 22-8 midway through the opening quarter. It wasn't until the 3:49 mark when Sessions hit a pair of free throws that a Charlotte player besides Walker registered a point. New Orleans led 33-15 after the first.

Charlotte won the second period after the Pelicans shot just 8-of-21 from the floor, but the home team still led by 15 at intermission.

Davis' emphatic dunk early in the third period gave the momentum back to New Orleans, which managed to keep the lead in double figures for the remainder of the second half.

"The disappointing part to me was the beginning of the third quarter where we just came out with nothing," Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford said.

Game Notes

Brian Roberts had 13 points off the bench for New Orleans ... Davis recorded career-highs in blocks and steals while matching a career-best in assists. The Pelicans shot 7-for-13 from 3-point range.
