Sacramento Kings 2014 Draft Preview
Draft picks: 1st round (8th overall)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Sacramento Kings have yet another top-10 pick in the NBA Draft.
This is the sixth consecutive draft the Kings will be in the top 10. Improvement has not been there for Sacramento, but the Kings will try, try again.
With the eighth pick, it seems the Kings are targeting point guard help. Isaiah Thomas is a free agent and one the Kings would most likely try to retain him, but if they can't, then lead guard is where they'll look.
Australia's Dante Exum won't be there still at No. 8, but Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart could be. A fast riser in this draft, Louisiana Lafayette's Elfrid Payton will certainly be there at eight, but is that too high to draft him? He's a tall point guard and a top-notch defender already.
Smart is a proven leader and makes a lot of sense here.
A big issue in Sacramento's offseason could be the future of Rudy Gay. He has a player option for just over $19 million next season. Everyone in the universe expects him to exercise it.
Also, the Kings have been linked to Kevin Love reports, despite the seemingly small chance he'd sign in Sacramento long-term. It's another move to signal that the new Kings ownership is serious about winning.
