Clips, Jazz meet at Staples Center
(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers will try to rebound from a tough road loss on Saturday night when they welcome the Utah Jazz to the Staples Center.
The Clippers had a four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night against the Golden State Warriors. The Clips have won six straight at home where they play six of the next seven.
There were no fireworks between the Clippers and Warriors on Thursday, unlike their fight-tainted battle Christmas night.
Blake Griffin, who was ejected when these teams met on Christmas Day following an altercation with Andrew Bogut, paced the Pacific Division-leading Clippers with 27 points. He has scored 20-plus in seven straight.
Darren Collison followed with 22 points, while DeAndre Jordan pulled down 20 rebounds in the setback. J.J. Redick added 12 points for the Clips, who shot 40.8 percent from the field.
"We knew we were coming into a hostile environment and we didn't respond as a team," Clippers forward Matt Barnes admitted.
Los Angeles' night was summed up by its 1-for-15 showing from the field in an 11-point third quarter.
The Jazz had a two-game winning streak snapped on Friday in a 95-90 home loss to the Warriors.
Alec Burks scored a team-high 26 points for Utah, while Enes Kanter and Diante Garrett finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Jeremy Evans chipped in 10.
The Warriors trailed 77-68 after a pair of Rudy Gobert free throws with 10:11 left, but they opened up a 17-4 run to go up 85-81 with 4:24 left. Steph Curry hit three 3s during the run, while Bogut added a pair of buckets.
"He's an All-Star starter for a reason. He hit some shots and got in a rhythm. There's not much you can do about it," Burks said of Curry.
Jazz forward Derrick Favors (hip) missed the game.
Former Utah coach Jerry Sloan was honored at halftime, but it didn't help the Jazz.
The Clippers have won seven straight against the Jazz, including this season's only matchup, a 98-90 victory in LA on Dec. 28. The Clippers have taken four straight as the host in this series.
