Vogel, Stotts claim NBA Coach of the Month honors
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indiana Pacers' Frank Vogel and Portland Trail Blazers' Terry Stotts have been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in late October and November.
Vogel has guided Indiana to its best start in franchise history, amassing a league-best 15-1 record. The Pacers began the season 9-0 and have yet to lose in nine home tilts this season.
Indiana's defense has been tremendous to this point. The Pacers lead the league in points allowed (85.6 ppg) and opponent field goal percentage (38.7), and they are outscoring opponents by an NBA-best 11.4 points per game.
Stotts has led the surging Trail Blazers to a 13-3 record, which includes seven straight road wins. The Blazers swept a four-game road trip for the first time since Jan, 2003, with wins over Boston, Toronto, Brooklyn and Milwaukee.
Portland won 11 straight games overall, which is tied for the fourth longest winning-streak in franchise history.
The Pacers and Blazers will do battle on Monday night in Portland.
Other nominees for the award were Houston's Kevin McHale, the Clippers' Doc Rivers, Miami's Erik Spoelstra, Oklahoma City's Scott Brooks, and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich.
