Report: Rockets send Robinson to Portland
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets have dealt forward Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle on Sunday.
Robinson was the fifth overall selection in the 2012 draft out of Kansas but did not get much playing time during his rookie year with the Rockets and Kings, who traded the 6-foot-10 forward to Houston in a six-player deal last February.
He averaged just 4.8 points and 4.5 rebounds while logging just over 15 minutes per game.
If the trade goes through, it appears to be a salary dump for Houston, which will receive Kostas Papanikolau and Marko Todorovic -- a pair of second-round draft picks playing overseas who will not appear in the NBA this season -- as well as two future second-round picks from Portland.
The Rockets, who waived Aaron Brooks and Carlos Delfino on Sunday, are apparently building cap space to lure free agents, most notable Dwight Howard.
