Description: Padres starter Ian Kennedy threw his best start of the season Wednesday against Pittsburgh, going seven scoreless innings and striking out eight.

Description: Padres starter Ian Kennedy held the Reds to two runs on three hits Sunday at the Great American Ballpark.

Description: According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the deal sending Ian Kennedy to the San Diego Padres appears to be completed.
Insight: The Diamondbacks will receive lefty reliever Joe Thatcher, Double-A prospect Matt Stites and another prospect for Kennedy, who is 3-8 with a 5.23 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP this season. The right-hander has a 2.27 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP in 35 2/3 career innings at Petco Park, but he also had the luxury of facing the Padres in those starts. He needs to prove he still can get outs consistently before fantasy owners go near him.

Description: Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy walked four and gave up four runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings Saturday at Atlanta.
Insight: Kennedy was making his return from a 10-game suspension. The righty has been horrible this year, going 3-4 with a 5.36 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. He's been bad both on the road and at home too, so you can't even pick your spots if you own him. It's time to move on.

6/28/2013 11:10:00 AM
Description: Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy served his 10-game suspension and is available to start on Saturday.
Insight: Kennedy is 3-4 with a 5.21 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, though his last two outings before the suspension were decent six inning efforts.

6/18/2013 9:31:00 AM
Description: Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy dropped the appeal of his 10-game suspension and began serving it Monday.
Insight: Kennedy was able to start Sunday at San Diego and might only have to miss one start due to the suspension because Arizona has two off days over the next seven days.

6/14/2013 1:33:00 PM
Description: Arizona righthander Ian Kennedy has been suspended for 10 games due to his role in Tuesday night's bench clearing brawl against the Dodgers.
Insight: Dodgers righthander Zack Greinke plunked Miguel Montero after Kennedy threw at rookie Yasiel Puig and hit him in the face. Kennedy responded by nailing Greinke near the head in the next half inning, which led to the benches clearing. Kennedy figures to appeal the suspension until after his next start and thus will only cost fantasy owners one start.

Insight: He's got a solid excuse to never do the dishes again. We're still waiting for the Kennedy of 2011 (21-4, 2.88 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) to make an appearance. Hopefully he'll be able to start by Friday.

5/15/2013 7:46:00 PM

Description: Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy tossed his second career complete game Sunday in a losing effort against the Angels. Kennedy held Los Angeles to two runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in eight innings.
Insight: Kennedy (5-7, 4.13) was knocked around in his last start at Texas (5 1/3, 10 H, 6 ER, 4 K) but he was solid in the two starts prior to that (13 2/3, 10 H, 1 ER, 19 K) so he appears to be headed in the right direction.

5/31/2012 2:58:00 PM
Description: Ian Kennedy won for the first time since April 22 on Wednesday against San Francisco. Kennedy held the Giants to one run on five hits in 7 2/3 innings, He walked two and struck out seven.
Insight: Kennedy went 0-5 with a 6.00 ERA in his previous five starts so it's nice to see him bounce back against a divisional opponent. He already has more losses than he had all of last season, but hopefully he can revert to his 2011 form going forward.

5/26/2012 10:01:00 AM
Description: Ian Kennedy suffered another defeat on Friday, his fifth straight loss. Kennedy allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Insight: Kennedy (3-5) already has more losses this year than all of last season, when he went 21-4. He's been extremely hittable this season, as his .284 BAA indicates.

5/19/2012 10:36:00 PM
Description: Ian Kennedy was roughed up by Kansas City on Saturday to the tune of six earned runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Insight: Kennedy hasn't been anywhere close to the pitcher he was last season. The Diamondbacks RHP dropped to 3-4 after Saturday's miserable performance, and his 4.47 ERA is more than a run and a half higher than it was in 2011.

5/3/2012 9:56:00 PM
Description: Ian Kennedy suffered his first loss of the season Thursday night in the nation's capital.
Insight: The Nationals were able to steal the series finale from Arizona but it would be hard to place much blame on Kennedy, who was terrific on Thursday. The Diamondbacks ace logged seven innings, allowing just four hits and two runs over that span. He struck out four and walked one. Kennedy falls to 3-1 for the year with a 3.23 ERA.

4/6/2012 10:16:00 PM
Description: Ian Kennedy tossed 6 2/3 innings on Opening Day against the Giants, giving up three runs and striking out three to earn the win.
Insight: Kennedy gave up nine hits and two walks, but was able to work around the baserunners to record a quality start. Kennedy won 21 games last year so this was a nice start in his quest to match that total this season.

5/11/2011 5:17:00 AM
Description: Diamondbacks SP Ian Kennedy tossed 8 shutout innings against the Giants, allowing just 4 hits and 3 walks; he struck out 8. San Francisco won, 1-0, giving Kennedy a no decision.
