Description: Rangers starter Robbie Ross Jr. didn't make it out of the fourth inning Wednesday against Oakland.
Insight: Ross allowed 10 runs (six earned) on 11 hits in 3 1/3 after giving up eight earned in his first 29 1/3 this season. The 24-year-old may not be long for the rotation with Joe Saunders nearing a return from the DL.

Description: According to the Dallas Morning News, Robbie Ross will start Texas' third game of the season.
Insight: Yu Darvish (neck) was scratched from his Opening Day start and will be replaced by Tanner Scheppers. Neither Scheppers nor Ross has made a start in the majors. Ross had a 2.62 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP the last two seasons in 127 1/3 innings. The Rangers seemingly convert more relievers into starters than any other team.

Description: According to the Dallas Morning News, Rangers manager Ron Washington wants reliever Robbie Ross to stay in the bullpen.
Insight: Texas needs a starter with Alexi Ogando (groin) heading to the disabled list for 4-6 weeks and Derek Holland not yet ready to come off the DL. However, Washington thinks Ross has been too effective in relief to use him as a starter. This season, the lefty has gone 6-0 with a 1.30 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 34 2/3 ininngs. He threw four shutout innings of one-hit ball Sunday in relief of Ogando.
