He's given up four runs on 11 hits in 17 1/3 innings since he came off the disabled list and is 3-2 with a 1.95 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP and a 27/4 K/BB in 37 innings this season. The 25-year-old should be added in all leagues.

Description: In his first start since April 23, Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda (back) held the Orioles to one run on two hits in five innings.
Insight: Pineda was suspended for pine tar use after his start on April 23 and he strained a muscle in his upper back during his suspension. The Yankees limited him to 67 pitches Wednesday and New York's bullpen squandered a 2-1 lead.

Description: Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda (back) is expected to be activated for the Aug. 13 game in Baltimore, according to a New York Daily News report.
Insight: The Yankees pitching staff has been devestated by injury this season and if Pineda is ready to go it will give them a huge boost. When he last pitched (April 23), he was 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA and 1.017 WHIP.

Description: Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda (back) isn't likely to be activated for Friday's start, according to mlb.com.
Insight: The Yankees will need a starter that day after placing David Phelps on the DL Monday with elbow tendinitis. The two likely options are Esmil Rogers, who was claimed off waivers last week, and Chase Whitley. Pineda will throw 75 pitches in his next start, wherever it takes place. Even if he's not back Friday, he's nearing a return and should be added in all leagues.

Description: New York starter Michael Pineda is expected to throw about 45 pitches Tuesday in a simulated game.
Insight: Fantasy owners should have moved on a long time ago. With all the setbacks he's been having, it's unlikely we'll see Pineda (2-2, 1.83 ERA) on the mound before the third week in August ... at best.

Description: New York manager Joe Girardi believes starter Michael Pineda will be out longer than the team had originally expected. SOURCE: Jorge Castillo, Newark Star-Ledger
Insight: Pineda (2-2, 1.83 ERA) was supposed to miss 3-to-4 weeks with a strained back. Now we might not see him until June. Injuries have forced the Yankees to go with a starting rotation of Hiroki Kuroda, Masahiro Tanaka, David Phelps, Vidal Nuno and Alfredo Aceves.

5/6/2014 2:23:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Michael Pineda is expected to miss three-to-four weeks with a Grade 1 strain of his teres major muscle.
Insight: The Yankees waited until Tuesday to place Pineda on the 15-day disabled list because they wanted his 10-game suspension to run out. The right-hander suffered the injury while throwing a simulated game last week. It's the same injury that cost Clayton Kershaw more than a month of action.

Description: Yankees starter Michael Pineda stopped a simulated game Tuesday due to tightness in his right lat.
Insight: Pineda was suspended 10 days last week for using pine tar during a game, but his return may have to be pushed back due to the injury. He was supposed to be back Monday against the Angels. If he can't go, David Phelps would probably get the ball.

4/11/2014 8:47:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Michael Pineda will not be disciplined for having a brown substance on his right palm during Thursday's start against the Red Sox.
Insight: The Red Sox coaching staff didn't say anything about the substance, possibly because it dealt with a similar situation with Clay Buchholz last year. Pineda claimed the substance was dirt rather than pine tar. The 25-year-old has looked fantastic this season, going 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA and a 12/2 K/BB in 12 innings after missing all of 2012 and 2013 with shoulder issues.
