Description: Baltimore second baseman Alexi Casilla is a career .516 hitter (16-for-31) versus Yankees ace CC Sabathia.
Insight: The light-hitting second baseman has little fantasy value, so this might be his only chance to help a fantasy lineup all season. He did steal 21 bases last season in 299 official at-bats, but he's only gotten 106 at-bats this season.

6/15/2013 10:50:00 AM
Description: Baltimore second baseman Alexi Casilla is probable for Saturday's game against Boston while dealing with a torn ligament in right index finger.
Insight: The light-hitting second baseman has very little fantasy value. He did steal 21 bases last season, but he's a lifetime .249 hitter with a .636 OPS.

5/20/2013 10:05:00 AM
Description: Baltimore second baseman Alexi Casilla is a career .583 hitter (14-for-24) versus Yankees ace CC Sabathia, including 2-for-3 in an April 12 matchup.
Insight: The light-hitting second baseman has very little fantasy value, so this might be his only chance to help a fantasy lineup all season. He did steal 21 bases last season in 299 official at-bats, but he's a lifetime .249 hitter with a .635 OPS.

4/12/2013 10:10:00 AM
Description: Baltimore second baseman Alexi Casilla is a career .571 hitter (12-for-21) versus Yankees ace CC Sabathia.
Insight: The light-hitting second baseman has little fantasy value, so this might be his only chance to help a fantasy lineup all season. He did steal 21 bases last seasom in 299 official at-bats, but he's a lifetime .250 hitter with a .639 OPS.

4/5/2013 2:42:00 PM
Description: Baltimore second baseman Alexi Casilla should get the first shot at replacing Brian Roberts over the next month.
Insight: Alexi Casilla has little fantasy value. He's a career .250 hitter with a total of 11 homers and 71 SB over six seasons with Minnesota.

5/26/2012 9:15:00 AM
Description: Minnesota second baseman Alexi Casilla doesn't have fantasy-worthy statistics, but he's very successful against Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia (10-for-18) with a 1.222 OPS.
Insight: Casilla (.229, 1 HR, 29 RBIs, 18 SBs) only true fantasy value is his ability to steal bases, but on most days there are better options. Wednesday's matchup is worth taking a flier.

5/7/2012 9:17:00 PM
Description: Alexi Casilla didn't start Monday night against the Angels. Casilla has a sore shoulder.
Insight: Casilla (.247, 0 HR, 4 RBIs, 5 SBs) could make an appearance later on as a pinch-hitter if the Twins need him. Jamey Carroll (.208, 0 HR, 7 RBIs) started at second in Casilla's place.

4/17/2012 9:43:00 AM
Description: Sometimes hitters just have a pitcher's number and that seems to be the case involving the non-fantasy worthy Alexi Casilla and Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia.
Insight: Casilla has nine hits in 15 career at-bats (.600) against the Yankees lefty. If you are in a daily league, he's worthy a flier, but his overall production isn't worthy of a long-term roster spot.

3/30/2012 4:43:00 PM
Description: Alexi Casilla left Thursday's game against the Pirates with a right knee injury. Casilla was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday.
Insight: Casilla has never played more than 98 games in a season. That's not enough playing time to make much of an impact in fantasy. Casilla's lack of power (10 homers in 409 career games) and shaky batting average (.260 last season) are two more reasons not to touch him in fantasy.

6/5/2011 12:02:00 AM
Description: Alexi Casilla has to be close to regaining the starting shortstop gig in Minnesota. Casilla went four for five today, raising his average .254 on the season. Understand he's raised it from .215 to .254 since May 25. Casilla has also stolen four bases during that time.
Insight: Casilla has been a mild disappointment to this point in his career. The talent is there, keep an eye on this in AL only leagues.

Description: The Twins will use Alexi Casilla at SS and Tsuyoshi Nishioka at 2B this year. SOURCE: JOE CHRISTENSEN
Insight: The two players were always slated to be regulars but the Twins hadn't set their spots. This was the most expected outcome. It remains to be seen if either one will be able to escape the bottom of the batting order.

1/16/2011 4:19:00 PM
Description: Alexi Casilla avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year $865,000 deal. SOURCE: JON HEYMAN
Insight: He has the inside track on a starting job at either SS or 2B but he isn't a lock for either spot. Keep an eye on him in spring training. He can offer some cheap speed if he plays every day.

12/10/2010 10:00:00 AM
Description: With Thursday's trade of J.J. Hardy to the Orioles, Casilla is likely to open the 2011 season as the Twins' starting shortstop.
Insight: If he can hold down the starting job and get on base consistently, Casilla could be a cheap source of stolen bases for fantasy owners next season. (RapidDraft.com)

10/8/2010 4:00:00 PM
Description: Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports, via Twitter, that Twins' manager Ron Gardenhire said he is considering starting Casilla at shortstop in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees.
Insight: J.J. Hardy is just 1-for-7 in the first two games of the series, and Casilla could provide some needed speed to the Twins' lineup. (RapidDraft.com)

8/8/2010 10:02:00 AM
Description: Alexi Casilla will have an MRI on his injured ankle today. SOURCE: STAR TRIBUNE
Insight: He can be dropped in mixed leagues no matter what the MRI says because Orlando Hudson is coming off the DL.

7/27/2010 11:09:00 AM
Description: Casilla went 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBI against Kansas City on Monday night.
Insight: Casilla is hitting .315 this season, and could be worth a look in AL-only leagues while Orlando Hudson (oblique) is out. (SportsBuff.com)

7/27/2010 2:33:00 AM
Description: Alexi Casilla went 2-4, drove in three runs and scored three times last night.
Insight: He will play everyday and bat second in place of Orlando Hudson for the next couple weeks as long as he can hit reasonably well. That is enough to get him some attention in deeper leagues.

7/20/2010 12:52:00 AM
Description: 1500 ESPN.com reports Casilla (elbow) could be activated from the DL on Wednesday.
Insight: Casilla should go to the big leagues and serve as the Twins' utility man once he's activated. But it is possible he could go to Triple-A. (SportsBuff.com)

7/2/2010 12:39:00 AM
Description: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Casilla (elbow) will begin a 20-day rehab stint with Triple-A Rochester this weekend.
Insight: Casilla may be in Rochester to stay, if everyone in the Twins' infield is able to stay healthy. (SportsBuff.com)
