Description: Former Oakland starter Rich Harden has agreed to a minor league deal with the Twins.
Insight: Harden used to be a front of the rotation starter but injuries have driven his career trajectory off course. There's a small chance he could crack Minnesota's starting rotation but we're not holding out much hope. The 31-year-old missed all of last season while rehabbing a shoulder injury.

Description: Rich Harden threw a regular bullpen session today for the first time since February 15. SOURCE: SUSAN SLUSSER
Insight: We don't expect to see him on Oakland's active roster for about a month and even at that point it will likely be in a relief role. At this point it's hard to say if Harden will ever be fully healthy again.

Description: Harden is expected to throw off a mound by Monday.
Insight: In related news, he's expected to exhibit further injury by Tuesday. In all seriousness, Harden is far more risk than reward at this stage. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Rich Harden will be shut down for another week because of the stiffness in his lat area. SOURCE: SFGATE.COM
Insight: The A's think he is ready to go but they want to be cautious with him - not a bad idea considering his injury history. He will likely start the season in the bullpen.

2/25/2011 10:03:00 AM
Description: Harden told the AP on Thursday that he is "100 percent pain-free" in the sore lat that shut him down early this spring.
Insight: The oft-injured righty said he feels ready to return as soon as the trainers allow. Of course, it's always just a matter of time before the next ailment. Harden can pitch, so he's a quality pitch-or-ditch candidate for fantasy owners willing to employ that method with their rotation. Trusting him for any significant role is unwise, though. Description: Rich Harden has been shut down for a few weeks because of soreness in his lat area. SOURCE: SUSAN SLUSSER
Insight: Here we go. Harden has the most talent of the competitors for the fifth starter job in Oakland but likely won't be able to stay on the mound long enough to win the job. He isn't worth more than a $1 AL-Only pick.

Description: Rich Harden has finalized a one-year with Oakland. SOURCE: FANHOUSE
Insight: He will compete for a rotation spot against Brandon McCarthy. If he is healthy we expect him to have no problem beating McCarthy out. Harden wasn't good in 2010 but he has too much potential to ignore.

Description: The A's have signed pitcher Rich Harden to a one-year deal. SOURCE: NBC Sports
Insight: The A's tried this last year with Ben Sheets and it did not work out. At least this gamble is much cheaper.

Description: The Rockies are among a group of teams that are interested in Rich Harden as a possible reliver. SOURCE: Troy Renck via Twitter
Insight: If he moves to the bullpen and becomes a closer, Harden's value could increase, since he would have a decreased risk of injury with fewer innings to worry about.

Description: According to MLB.com, the Rangers have designated Harden for assignment on Wednesday.
Insight: Harden was left off the postseason roster after going 5-5 with a 5.58 ERA in 20 games, including 18 starts. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release, or outright Harden to the minor leagues. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Rangers SP Rich Harden made his first bullpen appearance for the Rangers on Saturday, allowing three runs in two innings; the Rangers used him even though Cliff Lee had not yet been scratched from Tuesday's start. SOURCE: MLB.com
Insight: With Harden destined to be a bullpen guy for the rest of the season, there is no reason to own him unless you play in leagues that count holds.

8/24/2010 8:14:00 AM
Description: Harden pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up no hits while walking five and striking out six.
Insight: Harden left the game in the seventh without giving up a hit after 111 pitches but was able to earn his fifth win of the season. The only hit of the game was a hit by Joe Mauer with two outs in the ninth inning. (SportsBuff.com)

8/24/2010 5:46:00 AM
Description: Rich Harden came off the DL last night to no-hit the Twins for 6 2/3 innings.
Insight: He walked five batters and stuck out six. No one has ever questioned Harden's stuff but his control and consistency are another issue. You can gamble on him later this week at home against Oakland.

8/23/2010 6:55:00 PM
Description: Rich Harden has been activated from the DL. SOURCE: AP
Insight: He will face the Twins tonight and make two starts this week. Fantasy owners shouldn't trust that he can make two good ones and should leave him on the bench in deep leagues.

Description: Rich Harden gave up an unearned run over six innings while striking out 10 in a minor league rehab start last night. SOURCE: Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Insight: A good sign for Harden owners, because of how badly his injuries have affected his pitching performances. He is eligible to return August 23 so if you don't have him, he is worth making a play for.

Description: Rangers SP Rich Harden had his rehab start postponed because the Rangers want to get a "better schedule" for him. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: With the playoffs looming, Texas needs Harden more in October than they do in August. Don't be surprised to see him with limited innings during the season as the Rangers prep for the playoffs.
