Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki has signed a two-year, $12 million contract extension with a vesting option for 2017, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Insight: Suzuki, who made the All-Star team this year, was reportedly on the trade block, but the Twins have decided to make a commitment to the 30-year-old rather than hand the catcher job to Josmil Pinto.

7/12/2014 3:38:00 PM
Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki is not in Saturday's starting lineup versus Tyler Matzek and the Colorado Rockies.
Insight: Suzuki is a .300 hitting catcher that almost no one is talking about. He's batting .306 with 18 doubles, two homers, 35 RBI, 25 runs and a .756 OPS.

Hot6/22/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki went 3-for-4 with a double Sunday against the White Sox.
Insight: Suzuki continues to be an undervalued fantasy asset. He's batting .321 with 15 doubles, two homers, 32 RBI, 20 runs and a .798 OPS.

6/22/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki could be in for a tough day Sunday against White Sox starter John Danks.
Insight: Suzuki (.313, 2 HR, 32 RBI) has only managed one hit against him in 15 career at bats. The veteran's eight-game hitting streak could be in jeopardy.

5/28/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: If you're selecting a catcher for Wednesday, don't pick Minnesota's Kurt Suzuki.
Insight: Suzuki is 2-for-31 (.065) against Rangers left-hander Joe Saunders. He's had a strong season, hitting .297 with two homers, 27 RBI and just 12 Ks, but he isn't likely to have a good day Wednesday against Saunders.

Hot5/18/2014 10:03:00 AM

Insight: Suzuki has gone 11-for-35 with four doubles and a homer against Hernandez, Sunday's scheduled starter against the Twins.

Hot5/15/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Minnesota catcher Kurt Suzuki (3-for-5) scored the game-winning run Thursday in a walkoff win over the Red Sox.
Insight: Suzuki is 10-for-23 with three RBI in his last five outings. His .325 average in 114 at bats this season leads all big league catchers.

5/4/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki drove in three runs Sunday against the Orioles.
Insight: Suzuki went 3-for-3 with two doubles and now has a .325 average and 22 RBI. No backstop has more RBI.

4/24/2014 6:09:00 PM
Description: Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki went 3-for-4 with three RBI Thursday at Tampa Bay.
Insight: Suzuki's 17 RBI rank first among backstops this year. The 30-year-old has struck out just six times and is hitting .310.

1/25/2014 9:27:00 PM
Description: According to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Twins GM Terry Ryan said Friday he wasn't sure who would back up Kurt Suzuki this season, effectively naming Suzuki the starter.
Insight: Suzuki will only be a fantasy option in AL-only leagues. The 30-year-old has a .253 average, 67 homers and a .684 OPS in 840 career games.

12/20/2013 11:23:00 AM
Description: Minnesota has agreed to terms with catcher Kurt Suzuki, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
Insight: He'll earn $2.75 million in 2014. Suzuki's offense has gone south of late, but he's a good defensive catcher and a nice guy to have in the clubhouse. The Twins hope that youngster Josmil Pinto (.314 at Triple-A Rochester) can grab the lion's share of the catching duties with Suzuki as his backup and Joe Mauer at first base.

8/23/2013 2:55:00 PM
Description: Oakland has re-acquired catcher Kurt Suzuki in a trade with Washington.
Insight: He'll fill in while Derek Norris and John Jaso are out with injuries. Suzuki will be more useful to the A's than to fantasy owners with his .223 batting average and .595 OPS.

6/6/2013 11:16:00 AM
Description: Washington catcher Kurt Suzuki hasn't had much success against Mets righthander Shaun Marcum.
Insight: He only has one hit in 11 career at bats against him. Catcher is a thin position in fantasy but you can probably do better than Suzuki (.237, 2 HR, 11 RBI). Definitely don't start him Thursday against New York.

4/17/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki had a triple, a homer and a sac fly Wednesday against the Marlins.
Insight: Suzuki will be the starting backstop while Wilson Ramos is sidelined by a hamstring strain. He has six extra-base hits (two HR) and a .360 average in 25 at-bats after hitting .267 with five homers in 146 at-bats with Washington last year.

9/21/2012 10:03:00 AM
Description: Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki is just 1-for-11 against Milwaukee right-hander Shaun Marcum.
Insight: Suzuki has been much improved in the Nationals lineup with more opportunities to produce in their better hitting lineup. He's batted .257 with 18 RBI in just 32 games which matches his RBI total for 75 games with Oakland. Still, sit him on Friday in this bad matchup.

9/8/2012 1:04:00 PM
Description: Kurt Suzuki has a .265 average, three homers, 14 RBIs and an 8/9 K/BB in 23 games with the Nationals after hitting .218 with one home run, 18 RBIs and a 53/9 K/BB in 75 games with the A's this season.
Insight: Suzuki is not in the lineup Saturday after catching all 10 innings Friday, but he's a decent pickup for those going with the hot hand at catcher.

8/3/2012 2:56:00 PM
Description: Newly acquired Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki hasn't been much of a fantasy factor since 2010, but his new team may provide for more RBI opportunities.
Insight: Suzuki's best season was in 2009 when he batted .274 with 15 HR and 88 RBI. He's shown almost no power this season with one homer and a .536 OPS, so at this point you should not rush to pick him up.

6/29/2012 2:11:00 PM
Description: Oakland catcher Kurt Suzuki hasn't been seeing consistent playing time since the A's deciced to call up Derek Norris last week but if he is in the lineup on Friday, you'll want to start him in fantasy. Suzuki is a .471 lifetime hitter against Texas lefty Matt Harrison.
Insight: This is one of the few times we'd recommend starting Suzuki, who has largely underachieved at the plate this season (.210, 0 HRs, 16 RBIs in 63 games).
