Description: Marlins left-hander Randy Wolf was designated for assignment on Monday.
Insight: Wolf, who has now pitched for six teams since 2008, lasted just six games in Miami, registering a 5.26 ERA in 25 2/3 innings. The 37-year-old may catch on elsewhere but his days of being a useful fantasy contributor are over.

6/2/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: Miami left-hander Randy Wolf won for the first time this season Monday against Tampa Bay.
Insight: If you want to get technical, it's actually his first win since September of 2012. Wolf looked sharp on Monday, surrendering just three hits and one earned run over six innings. The victory puts the Marlins one game over .500. Wolf's next outing will come Saturday against Chicago.

Description: The Marlins have agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal with left-hander Randy Wolf. SOURCE: Jayson Stark, ESPN
Insight: The team needed an extra arm with Jose Fernandez out for the season (torn UCL). Wolf was cut by the Mariners in spring training. At age 37 and coming off Tommy John surgery, he probably isn't your best fantasy option.

3/25/2014 7:07:00 PM
Description: Seattle released left-hander Randy Wolf on Tuesday.
Insight: Wolf missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He posted a 4.26 ERA in five starts this spring before getting cut.

Insight: His signing should become official in the next 24 hours. It's only a minor league deal so Wolf will have to prove himself in spring training if he hopes to make the team. The 37-year-old last pitched in the major leagues in 2012 (5-10, 5.65 ERA in 30 games with Baltimore and Milwaukee).

Cold8/22/2012 11:03:00 AM
Description: Milwaukee lefthander Randy Wolf not only lost his spot in the starting rotation, he's been released.
Insight: Wolf was 3-10 with a 5.69 ERA and a 1.574 WHIP, so this isn't likely to change many fantasy lineups.

Cold8/20/2012 10:36:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee lefthander Randy Wolf might lose his spot in the starting rotation when Shaun Marcum returns from the disabled list later this week.
Insight: Wolf went 13-10 with an impressive 3.69 ERA in 2011 but this year, it's been a different story. He's winless in his last three starts and the last time Wolf (3-10, 5.69 ERA) lasted longer than six innings in an outing was back in mid-June. Even if Wolf does manage to keep his job, there's no way you shouldn't be relying on him to carry your fantasy team.

6/12/2012 7:01:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Randy Wolf allowed one unearned run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings against the Cubs in his last start, but he doesn't make for a good streaming option tomorrow at Kansas City, even in deep NL-only leagues.
Insight: Wolf has a 5.45 ERA and 1.63 WHIP overall, but he actually hasn't been bad at Miller Park, going 1-3 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in seven home starts. It's been his starts on the road that have sunk his season. In five starts away from Miller, Wolf has gone 1-2 with an ERA of 8.28 and a WHIP of 2.04. His BAA on the road in .376. Stay far away from him Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium.

6/7/2012 6:13:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Randy Wolf allowed one unearned run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings against the Cubs Thursday. Wolf walked two and struck out six but had to take a no decision.
Insight: Too bad Wolf can't face the Cubs every start, as he hasn't allowed an earned run in 12 2/3 innings against Chicago this season. Against everyone else, Wolf has a 6.70 ERA. The lefty has been abysmal this season, but if you must start him do it when he pitches at home, as he has a 3.80 ERA in seven starts at Miller Park.

5/11/2011 3:27:00 PM
Description: Brewers SP Randy Wolf had a hard time against San Diego today, giving up 5 runs in 3 1/3 innings. San Diego has 12 hits and 2 walks against Wolf.
Insight: Despite the poor performance, Wolf did not receive the loss in the 13-6 game. He has been brutal over his last two starts, giving up 11 earned runs in 8 1/3 innings. Because of these last two starts he is a very risky play as a two-start pitcher next week.

4/20/2011 5:24:00 AM
Description: Brewers SP Randy Wolf worked 6 scoreless innings and the Brewers beat the Phillies, 9-0. Wolf gave up just 2 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 5.
Insight: Wolf has not allowed a run over his last 2 starts and has a 25:8 K:BB ratio on the season. He is worth considering in deeper mixed leagues right now that he is pitching well. However, batters are getting more than a hit per inning against him on the season and his career ERA is over 4.00, so he is not suddenly a Cy Young contender; use him carefully.

4/15/2011 7:33:00 AM
Description: Brewers SP Randy Wolf struck out 10 Pirates in 6 2/3 innings of work, picking up his 1st win of the year. He allowed no runs on 3 hits and walked just 2.
Insight: Wolf will probably top the "most added" list because of this performance. However, he is pitching way over his head, as his K/9 rate is much higher than his career average. He is also sporting a 1.62 WHIP, so performances like this are an anomoly. At best, he is a spot starter in NL-only leagues.

3/20/2011 3:02:00 AM
Description: Wolf delivered his sharpest start of the spring by far Saturday, allowing five hits, two runs and a walk while striking out three in 5.2 innings against the Dodgers.
Insight: Manager Ron Roenicke called Wolf's 5.2-inning outing "terrific," while Wolf says an altered grip on his cutter is helping him. The veteran sports a fugly 10.66 ERA for the spring but has trended down in runs allowed through his four starts. He's no more than a spot-starter option in most fantasy formats. (RapidDraft.com)

3/10/2011 6:10:00 AM
Description: Randy Wolf allowed five runs over two innings yesterday.
Insight: His spring training ERA is 30.00! Wolf will be locked into a spot in the Brewers rotation but it would be nice for fantasy owners to see something positive this spring before putting him in their rotations.

10/4/2010 1:02:00 PM
Description: Wolf allowed three runs over seven innings against the Reds on Sunday.
Insight: Wolf took the loss, and will finish 2010 at 13-12 with a 4.17 ERA. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.com reports, via Twitter, that Wolf will start for the Brewers against the Mets on Monday night.

Description: Randy Wolf will start tonight in New York and Dave Bush will start on Wednesday. SOURCE: ADAM RUBIN ON TWITTER
Insight: Wolf is now a fine option as a two-start pitcher this week while Bush becomes just a desperation NL-Only play.

9/23/2010 4:21:00 AM
Description: Randy Wolf held the Reds to one run over six innings in a win last night.
Insight: Wolf has been quietly effective this year and has been overshadowed by the Brewers disappointing season. He is a fine middle of the rotation starter.

Description: Wolf allowed one run on four hits over six innings against the Reds on Wednesday night.
