Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie beat his former team, the Baltimore Orioles, with six strong innings Thursday to improve to 5-0.
Insight: Guthrie's stats -- 5-0, 2.28 ERA -- scream regression, as he has a 93.2 percent strand rate and a .250 BABIP; his FIP is 4.59. However, he's a must-start while he's this hot.

5/4/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie threw his first career complete game shutout Saturday against the White Sox.
Insight: Guthrie is a perfect 4-0 through six starts and has a 2.40 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP this season. He has been a capable fantasy starter since joining Kansas City last July.

4/28/2013 5:35:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie improved to 3-0 with 6 2/3 coreless innings Sunday against the Indians.
Insight: Guthrie has been a capable fantasy arm in deeper mixed leagues this season, posting a 3.06 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP and 24 strikeouts over 32 1/3 innings this year. The right-hander has a 3.14 ERA over 123 1/3 innings since joining the Royals in the middle of last year.

4/16/2013 10:28:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie took a no decision Tuesday against the Braves after allowing a game-tying homer to Juan Francisco in the seventh inning. He allowed five hits, a walk and two runs in seven innings.
Insight: Guthrie also gave up a solo homer to Francisco in the second inning. The right-hander has been superb this year, going 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. He has allowed five homers, however, which could be an issue if he starts letting more runners on base.

4/4/2013 7:57:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie tossed six innings of one-run ball and struck out nine against the White Sox Thursday to pick up win No. 1.
Insight: The Royals rescued Guthrie from Colorado, where he was 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 90 2/3 innings. He went 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 91 innings in Kansas City and should be a solid deep mixed league starter.

11/20/2012 3:14:00 PM
Description: Kansas City has re-signed righthander Jeremy Guthrie for three years and $25 million.
Insight: Both sides made concessions in the deal. In the end, the Royals bulked up their offer from two years to three years while Guthrie received a bit less than the $34 million he had originally desired. Guthrie seems like a good fit in KC and should have a chance to be the club's Opening Day starter come April.

11/7/2012 5:39:00 PM
Description: Free agent righthander Jeremy Guthrie is hoping for three years and $34 million when he signs a deal later this offseason according to Bob Dutton from the Kansas City Star.
Insight: Guthrie was a disaster during his 19-game stint in Colorado at the start of the year (3-9, 6.35 ERA) but was much more successful after he was traded to the Royals (5-3, 3.16 in 14 starts). The veteran will turn 34 in April.

Hot9/15/2012 9:50:00 PM
Description: Kansas City starter Jeremy Guthrie turned in his second straight eight-inning performance in a no decision Saturday against the Angels.
Insight: Forget the train wreck Guthrie was with the Rockies; he's a different pitcher now. In his last nine starts, Guthrie has gone 4-1 with a 2.04 ERA in 61 2/3 innings. The right-hander was quality in eight of those nine starts and he allowed two runs or less in seven of them.

Hot9/9/2012 6:45:00 PM
Description: Kansas City righthander Jeremy Guthrie tossed eight scoreless frames Sunday as the Royals defeated the White Sox by a score of 2-1.
Insight: Guthrie is 2-0 with an impressive 1.21 ERA over his past three starts. He's fared much better with the Royals (4-3, 3.23) than he did with the Rockies earlier in the year (3-9, 6.35).

Hot9/4/2012 10:57:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie has six quality starts in his last seven turns.
Insight: Guthrie is 4-0 with a 2.36 ERA in his last seven starts, though six of his 12 earned runs came in his Aug. 25 start against Boston. Guthrie's resurgence is proof that anything is possible in fantasy baseball, especially when a pitcher leaves Colorado.

8/28/2012 7:53:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie returned to form in his last start after firing four straight quality outings.
Insight: Guthrie allowed six earned runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings against the Red Sox. The right-hander cannot be trusted in any formats.

Hot8/14/2012 10:59:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie tossed his second straight scoreless outing Tuesday against Oakland. He has also thrown three quality starts in a row.
Insight: Guthrie shut out Chicago over eight five-hit innings on Aug. 8 and he was equally as impressive Tuesday, three-hitting the A's over seven innings. Still, Guthrie's performance was so poor in his first 17 starts that it's difficult to find him appealing as a fantasy option, even in AL-only leagues.

8/8/2012 10:52:00 PM
Description: Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie shocked the baseball world with eight shutout innings of five-hit ball Wednesday against the White Sox. The performance ended a string of nine straight losing decisions for Guthrie.
Insight: Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and awhile, so the saying goes. Guthrie still shouldn't be touched in any leagues.

7/22/2012 6:04:00 PM
Description: Right-hander Jeremy Guthrie's first start with Kansas City went just as poorly as his previous 15 with Colorado. Guthrie surrendered five runs on four hits in five innings while walking three and striking out four.
Insight: Guthrie went just 3-9 with a 6.35 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 19 appearances with the Rockies before he was dealt to the Royals. However, don't expect him to suddenly become streamable now that he's out of Coors Field.

6/19/2012 5:57:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have moved righthander Jeremy Guthrie to the bullpen.
Insight: Guthrie went just 3-6 with a 7.02 ERA and a .339 BAA in 11 appearances as a starter this year, so now he'll try his hand as a reliever. There is no reason to own Guthrie in fantasy anymore.

6/17/2012 10:44:00 PM
Description: According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Rockies are actively shopping SP Jeremy Guthrie.
Insight: Guthrie (3-5, 6.91 ERA) has been atrocious, so he can only hope that some team will rescue him from Coors Field, where he is 1-3 with a 9.53 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in five starts. However, he hasn't been pitching like Cy Young on the road, going 2-2 with a 4.23 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP.

5/15/2012 9:29:00 PM
Description: Jeremy Guthrie has been activated from the disabled list and will get the start Tuesday night against the Giants. Guthrie missed a little over two weeks with a shoulder injury.
Insight: Guthrie's record is 2-1 but his ERA is an unimpressive 5.92 and so far in 2012, he has recorded twice as many walks (10) as strikeouts (5). Guthrie is only owned in 0.5 percent of fantasy leagues so it doesn't look like fantasy owners have much confidence in him.

6/21/2011 9:36:00 AM
Description: Baltimore SP Jeremy Guthrie was out on the field throwing for the second straight day and should make his start tomorrow despite suffering from a sore back. SOURCE: MLB BLOGS
Insight: Guthrie was forced from his last start due to a back issue, and although he's only 2-8 on the season... the Orioles still consider him one of their leaders in the rotation and desperately need him back. His season ERA is 3.56 and his WHIP is 1.18. He'll be matched up with the Pirates, a game he's more than capable of winning if he'll get some run support.

5/14/2011 7:21:00 AM
Description: Orioles SP Jeremy Guthrie allowed 3 runs through 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and walking 2; he struck out 5 in the loss to Tampa Bay.
Insight: Guthrie gave up two home runs and was out-pitched by Jeremy Hellickson. Despite the lack of wins, Guthrie has pitched fairly well this season. He is definitely worth using in all formats despite the lack of wins.

5/7/2011 2:33:00 PM
Description: Orioles SP Jeremy Guthrie lasted just 5 innings against Tampa Bay, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits and a walk; he did strike out 4.
Insight: Guthrie now has 3 bad starts this season, to go along with 4 excellent starts. It is tough to know when to use him, however, so his value is limited to AL-only or deep mixed leagues right now.
