Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon homered for the fourth time this season Tuesday against the Orioles.
Insight: It was a two-run shot off Orioles left-handed reliever Brian Matusz. Gordon is 21-for-48 (.438) with three homers and 14 RBI against lefties this season after hitting just .248 with three home runs in 230 at-bats against them last season.

Description: If you have an open outfield spot on Thursday make sure to use Royals leftfielder Alex Gordon. He's a .484 lifetime hitter against Rays righty Roberto Hernandez (formerly Fausto Carmona).
Insight: Gordon (.321, 3 HR, 18 RBI) has registered two or more hits in four of his last seven games. He could make it five out of eight with Hernandez (1-4, 5.28 ERA) pitching Thursday in the series finale.

Description: Hot-hitting Royals left fielder Alex Gordon has struggled against Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez with just two singles in 12 at-bats. He's struck out five times.
Insight: Gordon is batting .337 with three homers, 17 RBIs and 18 runs and is beginning to build on the promise of the past two seasons. Monday, however, isn't a favorable matchup.

Hot4/28/2013 7:40:00 PM
Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon went 2-for-4 with a walk and his third homer of the season Sunday against Cleveland.
Insight: Gordon hit just 14 homers in 161 games last season and didn't have a round-tripper in his first 16 games this season, but he has three over his last five games. The outfielder is batting .352 with 17 RBIs and 18 runs.

Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon is a career .407 hitter (11-for-27) with five extra base hits against Cleveland starter Justin Masterson.
Insight: Gordon is hitting .345 with six doubles, two triples, two homers, 15 RBI and 17 runs in 20 games this season. Hot hitter plus favorable matchup equals must start.

Hot4/25/2013 4:52:00 PM
Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon went 2-for-6 with a grand slam Thursday against the Tigers.
Insight: Gordon came in with poor numbers against Justin Verlander, but he hit the grand slam in the top of the 10th after Verlander had been removed. Gordon is hitting .337 with six doubles, two triples, two homers, 15 RBI and 16 runs in 19 games.

Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon misplayed two balls in the outfield in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader at Fenway Park but he made up for it by having a strong night at the plate.
Insight: Gordon (.342, 1 HR, 10 RBI) smacked a double off the Green Monster on the first pitch of the game before blasting a solo home run in the fifth. He scored on a bases loaded walk to win the game in the tenth inning.

4/14/2013 12:00:00 PM
Description: Kansas City left fielder Alex Gordon hasn't had much luck against Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow. He's only collected one hit against him in 11 previous at bats.
Insight: Gordon is currently on a 10-game hitting streak. If Gordon wants to extend the streak to 11 he may have to do it against one of the Blue Jays relief pitchers because he just can't seem to get a handle on Morrow.

3/14/2013 2:30:00 PM
Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon is hitting .516 with three homers in 31 at-bats this spring.
Insight: Gordon's homers slippd from 23 to 14 last season but he led the majors with 51 doubles. We think his decline in homers had to do with his fly-ball percentage going from 38.5 to 32.7percent and his HR/FB going from 12.6 to 8.5 percent. His career numbers in those categories are 40 percent and 10 percent, respectively, so we expect Gordon to finish closer to 20 homers in 2013. Consider him a strong sleeper.

2/26/2013 1:58:00 PM
Description: Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon has been dealing with a sore lower back, but is expected to return to the field on Wednesday, according to Royals beat writer Bob Dutton.
Insight: Gordon largely disappointed fantasy owners after an impressive showing in 2011, but rebounded in the second half to bat .294 with 93 runs, league-leading 51 doubles, 14 HR and 72 RBI. He's not the prototypical leadoff hitter as he's never stolen more than 17 bases in a season and has 20-plus home run power.

2/16/2013 4:30:00 PM
Description: Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon will move back to the leadoff spot, according to manager Ned Yost. Gordon started there last season, but was later dropped to the third spot.

Description: Royals left fielder Alex Gordon ended the 2012 campaign with a league-high 51 doubles in 642 at bats.
Insight: Milwaukee's Aramis Ramirez finished second with 50 two-baggers. This achievement comes on the heels of an excellent second half for Gordon, who hit .316 with 45 RBI after the All-Star break compared to just .274 for 27 RBI before the Mid-Summer Classic.

Insight: Yost said the outfielder could play but he's being given the night off. Unfortunately he'll miss a favorable matchup -- Gordon is a career .407 hitter versus Cleveland starter Justin Masterson with five extra base hits and a 1.132 OPS.

Description: Kansas City outfielder Alex Gordon is a career .407 hitter versus Cleveland starter Justin Masterson with five extra base hits and a 1.132 OPS.
Insight: Gordon hasn't hit the homers he did last season, but does lead the AL in doubles and is batting .293 with a .808 OPS. He's been a decent fantasy outfielder, just not as good as fantasy owners were expecting after he blew up last season. Friday is a favorable matchup.

9/16/2012 10:43:00 AM
Description: Kansas City outfielder Alex Gordon doesn't have a very good track record against Angels starter Dan Haren. He enters Sunday's game with a dismal .182 average in 11 lifetime at bats versus the Los Angeles righthander.
Insight: Expect a quiet fantasy day from the 28-year-old.

9/4/2012 11:02:00 PM
