Description: Angels right-hander Jered Weaver pitched 7 1/3 innings and allowed just one run on three hits to win his second game of the year, 3-1, versus the Orioles.
Insight: Weaver allowed a solo home run to J.J. Hardy in the eighth. That was the only run Baltimore scored in the game. Weaver isn't the same pitcher he used to be. His ERA is 4.44 and he doesn't strikeout a ton of people anymore, 24 on the season, but he is a serviceable fantasy starter in deeper leagues. He is 2-4 with a 1.18 WHIP in addition to his other numbers in 50 1/3 innings this season.

Insight: Weaver outdueled Jon Lester, who pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs. Believe it or not, this is Weaver's first start this year in which he did not yield a run. Better late than never. He is 15-7 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.

7/8/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: Angels starter Jered Weaver (back) played catch Tuesday and said he feels "a lot better," according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.
Insight: Weaver (9-6, 3.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) left Monday's game prior to the third inning due to lower back tightness. That he was able to play catch just one day later leaves the door open for him to make his next start.

7/7/2014 10:44:00 PM
Description: Angels starter Jered Weaver left Monday's start with lower-back tightness, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Weaver (9-6, 3.50 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) displayed obvious frustration after throwing a warm-up pitch prior to the third inning and he was removed from the game. The good news is that he doesn't have an arm injury. Matt Shoemaker, Wednesday's scheduled starter, came on to pitch in place of Weaver, so Hector Santiago is likely to start in Shoemaker's place.

Hot5/28/2014 9:31:00 AM
Description: Angels starter Jered Weaver has won six of his last seven decisions.
Insight: Weaver gave up five home runs and had a 5.79 ERA in his first three starts this season, but he's recorded a 2.01 ERA while giving up four home runs in 53 2/3 innings his last eight starts. Weaver's four-seam fastball sitting around 86 mph for the second straight season, but he's figured out how to cope with the velocity loss by using more two-seamers, curveballs and changeups.

Hot5/27/2014 2:11:00 PM
Description: Angels starter Jered Weaver has won five of his last seven starts to raise his record to 5-3.
Insight: The right-hander has yielded two runs or less in all seven of the starts to lower his ERA to 2.85 and his WHIP to 0.995. That's pitching at an extremely high level. He'll face a Seattle team on Tuesday averaging just 3.66 rpg over the past six contests.

Weaver's velocity is down again but he continues to limit hard contact (13.9 LD%).
