Description: Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz pitched eight innings and allowed one run on three hits in a no-decision on Friday.
Insight: The Red Sox finally received a stellar start from Buchholz, and they wasted it by scoring just one run. Buchholz struck out 11 and didn't walk a batter. Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come.

5/4/2015 10:37:00 PM
Description: Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz had another rough start on Monday as Boston continues to have problems with its starting pitching.
Insight: Boston has the second-highest starters ERA in the entire league, and Buchholz is a big part of the reason why. He is 1-4 with a 6.03 ERA this season. He pitched 6 1/3 innings on Monday versus the Rays and allowed five runs on nine hits. Simply put, he needs to get better, but for the Red Sox to be a serious contender, they may have to pull the trigger on the Cole Hamels trade.

4/23/2015 9:31:00 PM

Description: Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz pitched seven shutout innings versus the Phillies on Opening Day as Boston won, 8-0.
Insight: Buchholz allowed only three hits, struck out nine and walked one. It would be great for fantasy owners and Red Sox fans if Buchholz can return to his 2013 form where he went 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA. Last season, Buchholz was 8-11 with a 5.34 ERA.

3/7/2015 5:12:00 PM
Description: Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz pitched well on Saturday afternoon.
Insight: He pitched three innings, and faced the minimum. Buchholz did walk one, but that was erased on a double-play. He has also had the ability, and if Buccholz can put it together, he will be a worthy fantasy option.

Description: Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz will have surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Insight: Buchholz should be ready to go by February. He wasn't very good this season, going 8-10 with a 5.31 ERA and 1.40 WHIP to the disappointment of fantasy owners who remember he went 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA and 1.025 WHIP in 2013.

Hot9/17/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: After a dreadful start to the season, Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz has been on fire of late.
Insight: He is 3-0 with 1.66 ERA and 0.83 WHIP over his past three starts. Even with a tough matchup in Pittsburgh, Buchholz could be worth a flier for a daily fantasy play.

Hot9/7/2014 9:21:00 AM
Description: Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz pitched six and 1/3 innings, allowed two runs on four hits, struck out five and walked two in a victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Insight: Buchholz has come on strong to end the season, which is nice to see because he had much stronger first halves to the season the last two years. Buchholz is 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA in his last three starts. For the season, however, Buchholz has been pretty disappointing, going 7-8 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 146 1/3 innings.

Hot8/31/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: Boston starter Clay Buchholz pitched a complete game shutout, allowing three hits, striking out six and walking none as the Red Sox beat the Rays, 3-0, on Sunday.
Insight: Buchholz may be coming off the best two starts of his season. He threw eight and 1/3 innings against Toronto last week and allowed three runs on four hits in a no-decision. Buchholz out did himself, completing the shutout for his sixth victory on Sunday. He is 6-8 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.42 WHIP this year.

8/25/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Boston starter Clay Buchholz took a shutout and a 3-0 lead into the ninth inning Monday at Toronto, but he loaded the bases with one out and closer Koji Uehara allowed the Blue Jays to tie the score.
Insight: Buchholz continues to be incredibly inconsistent. He's given up at least six runs three times in his last six starts but allowed three or less and lasted seven or more innings in the other three during that span.

Cold7/28/2014 10:31:00 PM
Description: Since he struck out 12 in a three-hit shutout on July 13, Boston starter Clay Buchholz has given up 23 hits, eight walks and 15 earned runs in his last 17 innings. The Blue Jays had seven hits, four walks and seven runs against him in five innings Monday night.
Insight: Buchholz posted a 23/1 K/BB, a 2.73 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP in his first 29 2/3 innings after returning from the disabled list, but his struggles from earlier this season have returned. He's 5-7 with a 5.87 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP in 96 2/3 innings.

Hot7/13/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz threw his seventh career complete game and fifth career shutout Sunday at Houston.
Insight: Buchholz (4-5, 5.42 ERA, 1.51 WHIP) struck out 12, walked none and allowed just three hits. He appears to have figured out what was wrong with him earlier this season while he was on the disabled list. The right-hander has posted a 23/1 K/BB, a 2.73 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP in 29 2/3 innings since he returned.

7/1/2014 10:45:00 PM
Description: Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz gave up one run on five hits and didn't walk a batter in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Cubs.
Insight: In his first start back from the knee injury that kept him out for a month, Buchholz went 7 1/3 innings and allowed four runs at Seattle, but he also gave up three home runs. Tuesday's start was much more encouraging, but we still don't recommend owning the 29-year-old outside of deep AL-only leagues.

Description: Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz will take the hill Wednesday against Seattle. SOURCE: MLB Network
Insight: He missed about a month with a hyperextended knee. Though Buchholz (2-4, 7.02 ERA) has struggled most of the season, he pitched very well in his last rehab outing for Triple-A Pawtucket (6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 K's, 2 BB).

Cold6/19/2014 9:26:00 PM
Description: Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz's next start will be in the majors, according to Tim Britton of the Providence Journal. The date is yet to be determined.
Insight: While Buchholz is officially listed as out with a hyperextended knee, his struggles likely have more to do with him being on the disabled list. In 10 starts, Buchholz posted a 7.02 ERA, allowed 75 hits in 50 innings and struck out 39 while walking 24. Buchholz will replace either Brandon Workman or Rubby De La Rosa in the rotation.
