Description: Chicago outfielder Ryan Sweeney has gone 3-for-7 with two homers and five RBI his last two games and he's mashed against Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright.
Insight: Wainwright is one of the best in the game, but Sweeney is 5-for-12 (.417) with three doubles and a homer against him. He's only hitting .224 with a .588 OPS, but is a decent fantasy option Sunday.

7/25/2014 9:34:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Ryan Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI Friday against St. Louis.
Insight: Sweeney has hit his only two homers this season in his last 10 games. He's batting .221 with a .566 OPS this year and isn't a fantasy option.

6/13/2014 3:12:00 PM
Description: Chicago outfielder Ryan Sweeney will bat second and play center field in Friday's series opener against Philadelphia.
Insight: Its a bad matchup to come back to as Sweeney is just 2-for-17 lifetime against Phillies starter Roberto Hernandez.

6/6/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: Chicago outfielder Ryan Sweeney was supposed to return in mid-May, but a setback has left his return up in the air and we have no timetable to report.
Insight: Sweeney (.200, 0 HR, 6 RBI) has little power or speed and in nine seasons has never provided much fantasy value.

Insight: He's headed for an MRI. Don't be surprised if Sweeney (.200, 0 HR, 6 RBI) lands on the disabled list.

6/23/2013 8:27:00 PM
Description: Cubs outfielder Ryan Sweeney drove in a career-high six runs Sunday against Houston.
Insight: Sweeney went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer and two runs. The outfielder had seven RBI in 89 at-bats coming into Sunday's game and isn't likely to become a fantasy option.

8/1/2012 3:04:00 PM
Description: The Red Sox have placed outfielder Ryan Sweeney on the disabled list with a broken pinkie. Sweeney injured the pinkie after he punched a door in frustration following a bad at bat Monday night against Detroit.
Insight: It's doubtful that Sweeney (.260, 0 HRs, 16 RBIs) will be able to return this season. This injury usually sidelines players for about eight weeks.

7/23/2012 9:45:00 AM
Description: Red Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney is a career .421 hitter (8-for-19) against Texas starter Scott Feldman with five of the eight hits being for extra bases.
Insight: Sweeney has batted .175 since June 1 and is just 2-for-20 in July. It's a favorable matchup, but for a guy with an extremely cold bat.

7/5/2012 10:13:00 AM
Description: According to the Boston Globe, Red Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney (toe) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Portland.
Insight: Portland's starting outfield of Sweeney, Carl Crawford and Jacoby Ellsbury may be the Red Sox starting outfield by the end of the month.

6/17/2012 11:14:00 AM
Description: Less than three weeks after coming off the disabled list, Boston outfielder Ryan Sweeney is already going back on it. The Red Sox have placed Sweeney on the 15-day DL with a toe injury.
Insight: Sweeney had been just two for his last 15 (.133). He's hitting .292 for the season but has yet to steal a base or hit a home run in 2012.

5/28/2012 7:27:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney enjoyed a smashing return to the Boston lineup on Monday. He collected three hits in four at bats, including a double to center field off of Doug Fister in the second inning.
Insight: Sweeney's been doing this all season (.325 average in 126 at bats). His fantasy value is hurt somewhat by the fact that he doesn't hit homers or steal any bases but if you're looking for a guy who can give you a solid batting average, look no further.

5/27/2012 10:10:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney has recovered from his concussion and is expected to be activated from the 7-day DL on Monday.
Insight: This poses an interesting challenge for Bobby Valentine. Does he move Adrian Gonzalez (who has been playing right field in Sweeney's absence) back to first base and not play either Kevin Youkilis or Will Middlebrooks? Or does he keep Gonzalez in right and sit either Daniel Nava or Scott Podsednik? We'll see what happens on Monday when Boston hosts Detroit.

5/22/2012 8:19:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney (mild concussion) has been placed on the 7-day DL. The move is retroactive to May 20th, so Sweeney will be eligible to return on Sunday.
Insight: Expect Adrian Gonzalez to play right field for the Red Sox until Sweeney is healthy enough to resume playing.

5/21/2012 5:50:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney will sit again Monday night against the Orioles. Sweeney missed Sunday's game as well after suffering a mild concussion Saturday against Philadelphia.
Insight: The starting outfield for Boston Monday night will feature Marlon Byrd, Che-Hsuan Lin and Daniel Nava. There's not a whole lot of fantasy value right there.

5/20/2012 7:06:00 PM
Description: Despite suffering what is believed to be a mild concussion in Saturday's game against the Phillies, Ryan Sweeney expects to be back in the lineup Monday night when the Red Sox travel to Baltimore.
Insight: Sweeney got the day off Sunday with Adrian Gonzalez playing right field in his place. Major League Baseball instituted a new 7-day DL for concussions this season but it doesn't look like Sweeney will need it. He's hitting .311 with 12 RBIs in 34 games so far in 2012.

5/5/2012 12:58:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney was originally expected to hit leadoff on Saturday, with Mike Aviles batting fifth, but manager Bobby Valentine has made a late change, moving Sweeney to sixth.
Insight: Will Middlebrooks was a late scratch from the lineup. Nick Punto will now leadoff and play third base.

4/24/2012 11:12:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney had two hits on Tuesday and is now 20-for-51 (.392) on the season.
Insight: Sweeney doesn't provide much in the way of power, as he is yet to hit a home run, but he does have nine doubles on the year. He's worth a look if you need outfield help.

5/5/2011 8:23:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney went 5 for 6 with two RBI on Thursday's 12 inning loss to the Indians.
Insight: Sweeney doesn't really have any fantasy value right now, but when someone gets five hits you have to mention it.

2/15/2011 4:29:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney said that both his knees are feeling good. SOURCE: JOE STIGLICH
Insight: He battled knee problems all of last season. He is a good bet to win a backup job in Oakland but he doesn't have enough power or speed to help fantasy owners in a limited role.

7/19/2010 5:12:00 PM
Description: Ryan Sweeney will have surgery on both knees and will miss the rest of the season. SOURCE: WILL CARROLL ON TWITTER
Insight: This will clear up the logjam in Oakland's outfield even after Conor Jackson returns.
