Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI Monday against Tampa Bay.
Insight: Wieters is having an excellent April, hitting .366 with three homers, eight RBI and eight runs in 41 at-bats. The 27-year-old is a career .256 hitter and has hit 22-23 homers in each of the last three years.

Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters will get Saturday night off, with Steve Clevenger starting behind the plate.
Insight: Wieters has a .333 batting average with a couple of homers through his first nine games. Clevenger, a career .208 hitter, has little-to-no fantasy value.

Hot4/8/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters has a .379 batting average against Yankees starter Ivan Nova with four homers and a 1.351 OPS.
Insight: Wieters had two more hits on Monday to push his batting average up to .391. Now he faces the pitcher who he has hit the most homers off of over his career and the wind blowing out to center. Make him a must start.

4/6/2014 9:21:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters owns a .158 average in 19 at-bats against Tigers starter Justin Verlander.
Insight: Wieters has picked up three hits, all for extra bases, and struck out four times against Verlander.

4/4/2014 11:45:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters will get Friday afternoon off with Steve Clevenger getting the start behind the plate.
Insight: Clevenger batted .472 this spring, but this will be his first regular season action.

4/3/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is a career .063 hitter against Boston left-hander Felix Doubront (1-for-16).
Insight: This might be a good day to give backup Steve Clevenger a few at-bats. Clevenger batted .472 this spring and has a hit in his only at-bat versus Doubront.

3/14/2014 5:39:00 PM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters (ankle) will be out of the lineup until Monday, according to Roch Kubatko of masnsports.com.
Insight: Wieters is still dealing with swelling in his ankle from the sprain he suffered earlier this week and the team is being cautious. The O's backstop has hit 22 or 23 homers in three straight seasons but hit just .235 with a .704 OPS last season. He struggled mightily against right-handed pitchers, batting .214 with 11 home runs and a .628 OPS in 360 at-bats. He hit .282 with 11 homers and an .872 OPS in 163 at-bats against lefties.

Insight: The Orioles are also said to be shopping shortstop J.J. Hardy. Wieters (.235, 22 HR, 79 RBI) hasn't quite lived up to the hype but he's still one of the more productive catchers in fantasy baseball.

9/29/2013 11:38:00 AM
Description: Orioles catcher Matt Wieters will sit out the final game of the season Sunday.
Insight: Five years into his career, it looks like we know what type of hitter Wieters is going to be. In the last three seasons, he hit 22 homers twice and 23 once. He batted .235 with a .704 OPS and 79 RBI this season and has averaged .249/.315/.434 with 77 RBI per season since 2011.

Description: O's catcher Matt Wieters won't be available for Saturday's game against the Rays. SOURCE: Roch Kubatko, MASN
Insight: Wieters (.230, 21 HR, 75 RBI) needed a day off after catching all 18 innings on Friday. Steve Clevenger will get the start behind the plate.

9/13/2013 5:42:00 PM
Description: Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is getting the night off Friday against Toronto.
Insight: Steve Clevenger, who is appearing in his first game for the Orioles since April 13th, will get the start behind the plate. Wieters (.229) hasn't hit for a high average this season, but then again, he never really has (.254 lifetime average). The power is still there (21 HR, 71 RBI) and for most fantasy owners, that's good enough.

9/10/2013 11:04:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters "owns" Yankees starter Ivan Nova, batting .423 (11-for-26) with four homers and seven RBI.
Insight: He'll once again finish with decent home run (21) and RBI numbers (70), but a lousy batting average (.232). Today's matchup might help all three categories.

9/7/2013 1:01:00 PM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: Wieters isn't hury, just typical day game off after a night game. He'll once again finish with decent home run (21) and RBI numbers (67), but a lousy batting average (.233).

9/2/2013 9:09:00 PM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters had a big day at the plate Monday against Cleveland. He went 4-for-5 with a homer and two RBI.
Insight: Wieters had that many hits in his previous 33 at-bats (.121). He'll once again finish with decent home run and RBI numbers but a lousy batting average.

8/31/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is 10-for-23 (.435) with four home runs and an 1.605 OPS against Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova.
Insight: Wieters is 0-for-19 over his last six games, but perhaps a favorable matchup can get him back into the hit column.

Cold8/29/2013 11:18:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is 14-for-39 (.359) with four extra-base hits and an .892 OPS against Boston starter Jon Lester.
Insight: Wieters is 0-for-14 over his last four games and 14-for-92 (.152) over his last 27. Perhaps a matchup with Lester Thursday can wake up his bat.

8/27/2013 11:08:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is 1-for-13 (.077) versus Boston left-hander Felix Doubront.
Insight: Wieters' batting average in August is just .203, but he's already hit five homers, the most of any month this season. He's blasted 19 homers this season with 63 RBI, but Tuesday's matchup should be avoided.

8/20/2013 10:52:00 PM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters has hit five home runs in his last 14 games (11 starts).
Insight: Wieters is hitting .250 with 11 RBI and eight runs in that span. The catcher is batting .236 with a .728 OPS this season, but he should set a career high in homers eventually. He has 19 after Tuesday's game, four away from his career-high 23.

Cold8/18/2013 11:40:00 AM
Description: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters won't play Sunday against the Rockies.
Insight: Wieters has had a tough go of it in August. In 47 at bats this month, he's hitting just .170 with four extra-base hits. With Wieters getting the afternoon off, Taylor Teagarden will get the start behind the plate.

8/14/2013 2:10:00 PM
Description: Orioles catcher Matt Wieters is not in Wednesday's starting lineup against Arizona.
Insight: No injury, just the normal day game after a night game day off for the catcher. He's batting .233 with 16 HR and 56 RBI this season.
