Description: Former Giants closer Brian Wilson worked out with the Mets on Saturday.
Insight: Wilson missed most of the 2012 season after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery. He became a free agent after the Giants non-tendered him earlier this offseason.

Description: One day after being non-tendered by the Giants, closer Brian Wilson reportedly has "zero interest" in returning to the team. SOURCE: Henry Schulman, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: ESPN's Jim Bowden noted via Twitter that a source said Wilson has interest in the Giants, Dodgers, Angels and Red Sox. Schulman responded saying he was told Wilson feels disrespected by the Giants, adding that one person who knows the right-hander said he's "pouting" and could change his mind. There's no guarantee the Giants even want him back coming off his second Tommy John surgery. Sergio Romo locked down the closer role down the stretch in 2012 after taking the reigns from Santiago Casilla.

Description: Scott Lauber from the Boston Herald says the Red Sox could target reliever Brian Wilson if San Francisco doesn't tender him a new contract.
Insight: Wilson grew up in the Boston area so there could be a little incentive to work out a deal if he becomes available. The Red Sox already have a capable closer in Andrew Bailey and still need to fill holes at first base, shortstop and both of the corner outfield positions so signing Wilson probably won't be a top priority for them this winter.

Description: Brian Wilson's elbow injury is being classified as a moderate UCL sprain.
Insight: Wilson's ulnar collateral ligament actually isn't torn, so already the injury isn't as severe as we thought. Wilson is set to visit Dr. James Andrews later this week for a second opinion and though it's possible that Wilson could opt for rehab instead, it's pretty likely that he'll choose to have Tommy John surgery.

4/15/2012 3:30:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2012 season.
Insight: Fantasy owners should be sprinting to the waiver wire to pick up Santiago Casilla now that Wilson's season is officially over.

4/14/2012 8:06:00 PM
Description: John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Brian Wilson has structural damage in his elbow and could require season-ending surgery. Wilson will meet with Dr. James Andrews tomorrow.
Insight: Uh-oh. It doesn't look good for Wilson. The bearded one dealt with a sore elbow all spring and gave up runs in his first two appearances of the season. Sergio Romo seems like the obvious choice to replace Wilson, although Giants manager Bruce Bochy did drop the dreaded "by committee" line when asked about who would take over as the SF closer.

4/13/2012 12:30:00 PM
Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson will miss Friday's game against Pittsburgh with a sore left ankle.
Insight: Jeremy Affeldt will likely close in the interim, with Wilson probably ready to go on Saturday.

4/12/2012 6:50:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson recorded his first save of the season on Thursday.
Insight: It wasn't clean for Wilson, as the righty gave up three hits, a walk and a run in one inning. Wilson struggled with elbow discomfort in the spring and didn't appear in the Giants first four games. He gave up a run on Wednesday in his first appearance of the season. Wilson started out by giving up five runs in his first 1 1/3 innings last season before going on to save 36 games, but he allowed a ton of baserunners (1.47 WHIP). It appears he may repeat that feat in 2012.

3/29/2012 4:43:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson was not scratched from his appearance Wednesday: he was never scheduled to pitch on Wednesday in the first place.
Insight: Apparently yesterday's news was a false alarm. It looks like everything is a-okay with Wilson. Expect the bearded wonder to be at full-strength for the Giants' season opener next week.

3/28/2012 4:28:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson will not make his scheduled appearance today against the Dodgers.
Insight: This news is a bit of a head-scratcher. Wilson dealt with some arm soreness about a week ago but it looked like he was past all of that. It could just be that Wilson is pitching in a minor league game instead so don't be too alarmed until we know more.

3/23/2012 9:37:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson didn't feel any pain pitching in a minor league game on Thursday. He is expected to make another minor league appearance on Saturday and if he feels good, Wilson could pitch again Monday against Kansas City.
Insight: Wilson was dealing with some soreness in his arm but if he makes it through his next couple of outings without pain, all injury concerns should be set aside. If Wilson can stay healthy for all of 2012, he'll be a lock for 40 saves.

4/28/2011 8:13:00 PM
Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson allowed just a walk, striking out 3, in his 1-inning save against the Pirates.
Insight: Wilson has been solid since he early-season meltdowns. He appears to have worked out the kinks and should still finish the year as a top-5 closer.

4/27/2011 6:07:00 AM
Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless inning against the Pirates, picking up his 6th save of the season.
Insight: Wilson struggled in his last start, so this outing was a good sign. He is a #1 closer in fantasy and should finish the season with 40+ saves.

4/25/2011 9:00:00 AM
Description: Brian Wilson gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in the Giants loss on Sunday against the Braves.
Insight: Wilson's ERA is now just a tick under 10 runs per game and his shortened spring training is really starting to show. Hopefully he finds his form in May.

4/13/2011 5:46:00 AM
Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson picked up his first save in dominating fashion, striking out the side against the Dodgers.
Insight: It appears that Brian Wilson and his beard are back to normal. Enjoy the ride if you own him.

4/9/2011 7:13:00 AM
Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson blew the save against the Cardinals, though the Giants did manage to rally and beat St. Louis. Wilson allowed 2 runs on 2 hots and 2 walks in 2/3 of an inning.
Insight: Wilson is struggling to regain his form after returning from the DL, as he has posted a WHIP of 5.25. Look for him to return to form quickly.

Description: Giants closer Brian Wilson should be back in action in Wednesday, when he is eligible to be activated from the DL. SOURCE: San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: With saves being blown all throughtout the majors this weekend, look for Wilson to quickly regain his form and be an elite closer.

4/2/2011 5:16:00 PM
Description: Brian Wilson could be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday when he is eligible. SOURCE: Andrew Baggarly on Twitter
Insight: Limited time on the DL is good news for Wilson owners. Keep him deactivated in weekly lineup leagues in case he doesn't see immediate action.

Description: The Giants have confirmed that Brian Wilson will start the season on the DL. SOURCE: JAIMEE SIRE
Insight: He only has to serve a minimum of five games. The team will likely use a committee of relievers to close in the meantime.
