Description: Astros manager Bo Porter said he will enter the season with a closer by committee, according to Brian McTaggart of mlb.com.
Insight: Chad Qualls will most likely get the first crack, with Matt Albers factoring in until Jesse Crain returns from biceps surgery in May. Fantasy owners should avoid this situation entirely if possible.

Description: Chad Qualls has agreed to a one-year deal with San Diego. SOURCE: JON MOROSI
Insight: He won't have any shot at saves there, so he doesn't have any mixed league value. After a poor 2010 season, Qualls will be focused on improving his overall numbers with the aid of Petco Park.

Description: After SP James Shields got shelled, the Rays called on RP Chad Qualls, who was worse. Qualls allowed 4 hits in just 1/3 of an inning, allowiing 2 runs.
Insight: The Rays' pitching picked a very bad time of the season to falter, with both starters (Shields and David Price) struggling against Texas.

Description: Chad Qualls will miss tonight's game in Oakland because of a death in the family. SOURCE: St. Petersburg Times
Insight: He has struggled since coming over from Arizona, so maybe the time off will allow him to clear his head. He cannot be trusted right now in almost any format, so stay away from him.

Description: Chad Qualls has been traded to the Rays for a player to be named later. SOURCE: STEVE GILBERT ON TWITTER
Insight: He will be one of the worst arms in Tampa's strong bullpen. We don't recommend adding him in AL-Only leagues.

Description: Chad Qualls is drawing interest from the Mets who would like to upgrade their shaky bullpen. SOURCE: Jeff Fletcher on Twitter
Insight: He has not done well this year, although not all of his struggles are his fault. He has lost his opportunity to save games, making his value in the deepest of NL-only formats until he can work things out.

Steady7/5/2009 3:52:00 AM
Description: Qualls recorded four outs to record his 14th save of the season in Saturday's win over the Colorado Rockies.
Insight: Qualls, who lowered his ERA to 4.05, had allowed runs in two of his past three outings. He isn't the most reliable closer out there, but you could do a lot worse. Keep him in your lineup, as he will likely notch 30 saves if he keeps the job all season. (SportsBuff.com)

Steady5/24/2009 6:16:00 AM
Description: Qualls finished for his 11th save in 12 chances, but not before giving up two runs and four hits on Saturday.
Insight: Qualls' ERA jumped from 2.50 to 3.32, but owners shouldn't be alarmed. It was just a bump in the road. In 19 innings this season, he's struck out 22. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot4/18/2009 10:17:00 PM
Description: Qualls worked the ninth for his second save in three opportunities in Saturday's 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants. He struck out the side.
Insight: Qualls, who has struck out eight in four innings, has strong job security right now - considering Jon Rauch has struggled. Tony Pena has pitched well, but Qualls is a lot more consistent and should be a 30-save guy this season. (SportsBuff.com)
