Description: Former Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair will join the Indians for spring training.
Insight: LaHair made the NL All-Star team in 2012 but was phased out after Anthony Rizzo emerged as the Cubs' best power hitter. Even if he ends up making the 25-man roster, we don't anticipate LaHair having any fantasy value in 2014.

11/20/2012 8:34:00 PM
Description: The Cubs designated first baseman Bryan LaHair for assignment on Tuesday.
Insight: LaHair had a miserable second half (.202, 2 HR, 10 RBI) and eventually lost his starting gig to up-and-coming first baseman Anthony Rizzo (.285, 15 HR, 48 RBI). We need to see where LaHair ends up first before we can properly evaluate his fantay value heading into 2013.

9/18/2012 9:50:00 AM
Description: Cubs first baseman/right fielder Bryan LaHair is 5-for-8 with a home run against Reds right-hander Homer Bailey.
Insight: After a fantasy-worthy first half (.286, 14 HR, 30 RBI), LaHair has become a non-factor. The arrival of youngster Anthony Rizzo to take over first base and a nose dive in LaHair's batting average (.187 since the break) have him sitting on fantasy benchs or released. If you still have him on your roster, today is the day to play him.

Cold9/4/2012 10:07:00 AM
Description: Cubs first baseman/right fielder Bryan LaHair is hitless in seven at-bats against Nationals starter Edwin Jackson.
Insight: After a fantasy-worthy first half (.286, 14 HR, 30 RBI), LaHair has become a non-factor. The arrival of youngster Anthony Rizzo to take over first base and a nose dive in LaHair's batting average have him primarily as a bench player in the Cubs rotation. He's gotten just 81 at-bats after the All-Star break and is batting .173 in that span.

Cold8/6/2012 9:17:00 PM
Description: Cubs first baseman/right fielder Bryan LaHair will take a seat Monday against San Diego.
Insight: He's barely hitting over the Mendoza Line since July 1 (.211, 1 HR, 3 RBI). It's safe to say that LaHair's brief reign of fantasy relevance has come to an end.

Cold7/30/2012 7:51:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman/right fielder Bryan LaHair won't be on the field Monday night against the Pirates.
Insight: LaHair (.267, 14 HRs, 31 RBIs) has struggled to a .154 average in 39 at bats since his trip to Kansas City for the MLB All-Star Game earlier in the month. He's hitless in his last 19 trips to the plate (0-for-17, two walks).

7/23/2012 6:13:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman/right fielder Bryan LaHair won't be on the field Monday night against the Pirates.
Insight: Jeff Baker (.289, 4 HRs, 19 RBIs) will play right field for the Cubs with Anthony Rizzo (.329, 4 HRs, 10 RBIs) getting the start at first base.

7/19/2012 1:47:00 PM
Description: Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair will get the afternoon off Thursday against the Marlins.
Insight: LaHair has been playing mostly right field since Chicago decided to call up Anthony Rizzo (.338, 4 HRs, 10 RBIs) from Triple-A Iowa. LaHair opened the season on a tear (.390, 5 HRs, 14 RBIs in April), but since May he's hitting just .241 with 9 HRs and 17 RBIs.

7/14/2012 11:55:00 AM
Description: Chicago first baseman Bryan LaHair is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona due to a strained left groin injury.
Insight: In his first full season, LaHair is putting up solid statistics - .281, 14 HR, 31 RBI. With rookie Anthony Rizzo playing well since being called up, it appears that LaHair will become an everyday outfielder.

7/1/2012 1:31:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Bryan LaHair will watch Sunday's game against Houston from the sidelines.
Insight: LaHair's name has been floating around in trade rumors ever since Anthony Rizzo was called up from Triple-A. The one good thing to come from Rizzo's promotion is that LaHair (.284, 13 HRs, 28 RBIs) is close to gaining outfield eligibility now that Rizzo plays first most nights.

6/25/2012 7:54:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Bryan LaHair will not start Monday night's game against the Mets.
Insight: LaHair (.286, 13 HRs, 28 RBIs) is in a difficult position now that stud first base prospect Anthony Rizzo (.342, 23 HRs, 62 RBIs in 70 games for Triple-A Iowa) is set to make his season debut on Tuesday. LaHair may have to move to the outfield or split time with Rizzo at first base, which would greatly reduce his fantasy value.

6/18/2012 7:44:00 PM
Description: Chicago first baseman Bryan LaHair is starting in right field Monday in the Cubs' series opener against the White Sox.
Insight: LaHair started nine games in right for the Cubs last season but this will be his first start there this season. LaHair could find himself playing the outfield a lot more often if the team decides to call up first base prospect Anthony Rizzo. Rizzo has hit .364 with 23 HRs and 59 RBIs in 63 games for Triple-A Iowa this season.

6/16/2012 6:37:00 PM
Description: Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
Insight: LaHair (.298, 12 HRs, 26 RBIs) went 0-3 in Chicago's series opener on Friday afternoon.

6/10/2012 1:53:00 PM
Description: First baseman Bryan LaHair is not in the starting lineup for Sunday afternoon's game with the Twins.
Insight: With LaHair (.310, 12 HRs, 25 RBIs) sidelined, Jeff Baker (.250, 1 HR, 6 RBIs) will get his 15th start of the year at first base today. He'll be going up against Minnesota lefthander Francisco Liriano (1-6, 6.46 ERA).

6/7/2012 12:44:00 PM
Description: You don't have to worry about starting Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair on Thursday. Chicago manager Dale Sveum is giving LaHair the afternoon off.
Insight: LaHair's 0-4 performance Wednesday ended a seven-game hitting streak. He's hitting .307 with 11 HRs and 23 RBIs for the year.

5/31/2012 1:42:00 PM
Description: Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair went 1-for-30 from May 16-25, but he's rebounded to collect five hits in his last 13 at-bats.
Insight: LaHair hit .390 in April but he was due for a major correction due to a sky-high BABIP. He still is hitting .398 on balls in play, so his average should fall some more, but since this has seemingly been the norm for LaHair in his career -- he's never posted a BABIP lower than .327 in any professional season -- the fall may not be that dramatic.

5/29/2012 11:52:00 AM
Description: Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against San Diego.
Insight: LaHair has been very good this season (.312, 10 HR, 22 RBI), but he's just 3-for-22 against lefthanders with a .569 OPS. If this trend doesn't change, LaHair could end up in a platoon situation.

5/27/2012 12:04:00 PM
Description: Cubs first baseman Bryan LaHair is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. Its a rest day.
Insight: LaHair has great season-long numbers (.299, 10 HR, 21 RBI), but he's struggled over the past two weeks batting just .189. The day off could help get him going again.

Hot5/3/2012 8:54:00 PM
Description: Bryan LaHair bashed another home run Thursday in Chicago's 4-3 loss to Cincinnati.
Insight: LaHair is feasting on National League pitching right now. LaHair's fourth inning blast was his third in as many games and his fifth in his last eight contests. At .388 with seven dingers and 16 RBIs through 22 games, LaHair might be the biggest fantasy surprise we've seen since Jose Bautista started tearing it up in 2010.

Hot4/25/2012 6:17:00 PM
Description: Bryan LaHair went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Wednesday afternoon against the Cardinals.
Insight: LaHair, a 29-year-old first baseman with 3136 career minor league at-bats under his belt, is keeping prospect Anthony Rizzo in Triple-A with his hot bat. LaHair is batting .364 with four homers and 11 RBIs on the year, and he'll likely continue to hold onto the cleanup spot in the Cubs' batting order for now.
