Description: Giants starter Tim Hudson pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, struck out five and walked none in Game 3 of the NLCS.
Insight: Manager Bruce Bochy made his first big playoff mistake in a long time when he left Hudson in for a seventh inning. The Giants jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, and the Cardinals slowed chipped away at the lead. In the seventh with a one-run lead, Bochy left Hudson in the game to face the bottom of the Cardinals order. Eight hitter Randal Grichuk hit a solo home run to tie the game. Despite the blown lead, San Francisco won, 5-4, in the 10th.

Description: Giants starter Tim Hudson could not best Clayton Kershaw, throwing five 1/3 frames and allowing three runs on five hits.
Insight: Hudson struck out four and walked one in another below average start for the right hander. Hudson has pitched awful in September, going 0-4 with a 9.92 ERA. The 39-year-old has been complaining about a sore hip in the last week, and since before the month started, Hudson's season ERA was 2.90, it is not inconceivable to believe his hip as been bothering him all month.

Description: Giants right-hander Tim Hudson lasted one inning, yielding six runs on eight hits to the Dodgers on Saturday.

The bad news is that after lowering his ERA to 1.81 through 13 starts, he's been shaky in two of his last three, including two weeks ago against the Padres in a game where he allowed six runs (four earned) over 5 2/3 innings.
