Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has crushed Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey for nine hits in 18 at-bats.
Insight: Four of those hits were doubles, and one was a homer. With Dickey on the mound Thursday against Atlanta and Freeman swinging a hot stick, make sure the first baseman is active.

Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman is just 1-for-11 (.091) against Mets starter Dillon Gee.

Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman (strained right oblique) is expected to be activated for Monday when Atlanta opens a series in Colorado.
Insight: Freeman said his oblique "felt fine" and fantasy owners will want to get him in the lineup immediately as he'll be playing three games in the light air of Colorado. He's a career .406 hitter with a 1.349 OPS at Coors Field.

Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman (strained right oblique) took swings Tuesday for the first time since being placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 7. SOURCE: AJC.com
Insight: Freeman said the oblique "felt fine" while taking 30 swings. He actually suffered the injury during a workout before Opening Day but played in five games before the team shut him down. The team opted to go that route because it didn't want to risk Freeman tearing the muscle. He should be able to return next week.

4/7/2013 11:10:00 AM
Description: Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Insight: Freeman says he suffered the oblique strain last Sunday but has played through it and is upset the Braves have opted to place him on the DL. Oblique strains can linger for 3-4 weeks, but this one should only keep Freeman out for the minimum amount of time. He is 7-for-17 with one homer and seven RBIs this season and should resume his expected breakout season in two weeks. Chris Johnson will handle first base duties in the interim.

Hot4/3/2013 10:53:00 PM
Description: Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman torched the Phillies for two more hits Wednesday in a 9-2 victory.
Insight: Freeman's bases clearing double in the bottom of the fourth put the Braves ahead 7-0. He also had three base knocks in the season opener on Monday. We wouldn't expect him to hit .714 for the rest of the season but it's definitely good to see Freeman get off to a nice start.

4/3/2013 12:40:00 PM
Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman is a career .467 hitter against Phillies ace Roy Halladay (7-for-15) with three homers, nine RBI and a 1.567 OPS.
Insight: He went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in the season opener while Halladay has struggled to find his game for most of spring training. Freeman is a must start on Wednesday.

3/20/2013 6:00:00 PM
Description: After going 4-for-4 with two homers Wednesday, Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman now leads the majors with seven spring homers.
Insight: Freeman had 23 homers, 94 RBIs and 91 runs last season so he already has been a valuable fantasy first baseman but he should be in line for a career year in his third full season.

9/28/2012 10:36:00 PM
Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has three homers in his last six games.
Insight: Freeman went deep Friday against the Mets, his 23rd of the season. The first baseman needs six RBIs in his final five games to reach 100 for the first time.

9/11/2012 7:33:00 PM
Description: Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will sit out Tuesday's game against Milwaukee.
Insight: Freeman's benching is probably the result of his current 2-for-24 slump. Lyle Overbay (.287, 2 HR, 10 RBI) will start at first tonight for Atlanta.

9/1/2012 12:28:00 PM
Description: Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman is just 2-for-13 against Phillies lefty Cliff Lee.

Hot8/12/2012 10:54:00 PM
Description: Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman is hitting .330 with four homers, 26 RBIs and an impeccable 11/18 K/BB ratio since the All-Star break.
Insight: Freeman whiffed 71 times and walked just 21 in 72 games in the first half while batting .264, so this is a major improvement all around. The first baseman also had a strong second half in 2011, hitting .292 with eight homers and 33 RBIs, though he still struck out 61 times against 21 walks. We may see a season-changing performance from Freeman over the final weeks of 2012.

8/12/2012 3:46:00 PM
Description: Atlanta first baseman Freddie Freeman hasn't faced Mets starter Jonathon Niese many times in his career, but when he has, it's gone well for him. So far he is batting .400 in 10 career at bats against the New York lefthander.
Insight: Freeman (.281, 14 HR, 74 RBI) will look to add to those strong numbers when he faces Niese (8-6, 3.82 ERA) again Sunday in the final game of a three-game set.
