Description: Atlanta relief pitcher Jordan Walden (hamstring) is throwing off a mound.
Insight: His fantasy value is limited as long as Craig Kimbrel is healthy, but he's always going to be a high strikeout-per-inning guy. He's got a 2.92 ERA. 1.14 WHIP and 19 Ks in 12 1/3 IP this season.

Description: Atlanta relief pitcher Jordan Walden took a line drive off his right hand last Saturday and may still need time to heal.
Insight: He hasn't recorded a save yet in 2013 and won't as long as Craig Kimbrel is healthy.

5/17/2013 7:08:00 PM
Description: Atlanta relief pitcher Jordan Walden has been moved to the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Walden has inflammation in his right shoulder. He hasn't recorded a save yet in 2013. Even when Walden is healthy, there's no reason to own him in fantasy.

Description: Braves reliever Jordan Walden will pitch batting practice over the weekend and hopes to get in a game next week.
Insight: Walden and his 100 m.p.h. fastball was suppose to be the closer for the Angels for many years, but despite 32 saves in 2011, could not keep the job. In Atlanta he has no shot to close with the league's best closer in Craig Kimbrel and setup man Jonny Venters ahead of him.

Description: Braves reliever Jordan Walden was scratched from his appearance Wednesday because of a sore back.
Insight: This shouldn't be an issue by the time the regular season opens. Walden could close for a lot of teams but in Atlanta's deep pen, he's not even a setup man. Look elsewhere for fantasy relief help.

11/29/2012 11:22:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Angels are looking to trade reliever Jordan Walden.
Insight: With Ryan Madson locked in as the closer and Ernesto Frieri as the setup man, Walden would appear to be the odd man out in the Los Angeles bullpen. Walden was inconsistent last season (3.46 ERA in 45 appearances) but he's still young (25) and has an electric fastball. We're guessing the Angels will receive plenty of calls about him during the offseason.

4/27/2012 7:26:00 PM
Description: Angels manager Mike Scoscia has moved Jordan Walden out of the closer's role.
Insight: Walden's ERA is north of eight right now and he just hasn't been effective at all this season for the Angels. We're not sure if this move is a permanent one, but for now, it's safe to drop the 24-year-old.

4/26/2012 4:05:00 PM
Description: Jordan Walden served up a walk-off homer to Brandon Allen of the Rays in the bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday.
Insight: Walden came in throwing 97 mph heat and Allen was right on it. The Angels' 24-year-old righty hasn't been used consistently this season due to his team's struggles, and it showed on Thursday.

3/31/2012 8:37:00 PM
Description: Jordan Walden is ready to go for the Angels' regular season opener. Walden threw on back-to-back days for the first time this spring on Thursday and Friday, and awoke to no soreness on Saturday.
Insight: Expect there to be plenty of save chances for Walden this season, as the Angels go five deep in the rotation. Albert Pujols will improve the Angels' offense dramatically, but it won't be so much of a juggernaut that Walden will lose save opportunities. Expect 35-40 saves and more than a strikeout per inning from the 24-year-old flamethrower.
