Burdi comes from an athletic family and his brother, Drew, played football at Western Michigan ... A big fan of Los Angeles Dodgers veteran right-hander Josh Beckett, Burdi is also a righty and has similar size to his pitching idol. Beckett recently tossed a no-hitter in Philadelphia ... Burdi has a reputation of being a hard thrower, as his fastball can top out at 96-100 mph. He is Louisville's all-time saves leader and could become a starter one day, but Burdi works better in relief ... Burdi, who was drafted by Minnesota in the 24th round back in 2011 out of high school, also has a slider and needs to develop more pitches if he plans on being in a five-man rotation ... Burdi will most likely be a two-pitch reliever and his fastball will take him places. His 6-foot-3 frame and chiseled 220-pound body is what scouts drool over ... Burdi's chances of reaching the big leagues are better in a relief role.
