Campbell's hit helps Mets drop Marlins
Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Eric Campbell's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth lifted the New York Mets to a 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins in the second game of three from Citi Field.
The Mets worked a two-out rally in the eighth to secure their sixth win in seven games. Travis d'Arnaud doubled to left off Mike Dunn (7-5) to set up Campbell, who pinch-hit for Kirk Nieuwenhuis and poked the game-winning hit into center.
Vic Black (2-2) earned the win for a scoreless inning of relief and Jenrry Mejia closed the door in the ninth for his 10th save of the season.
Chris Young homered in the win, while Ruben Tejada and Juan Lagares each knocked in a run.
Christian Yelich hit a solo home run for the Marlins, who have lost four of their last five. Marcell Ozuna, Donovan Solano and Garrett Jones each had an RBI in the setback.
