NOTES:The European Tour travels to China this week for the BMW Masters
at Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai. Two of the top six players in the world are in the field -- Henrik Stenson (4) and Rory McIlroy (6). This tournament is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Chinese Golf Association.

Stenson is playing for the first time since capturing the FedExCup on the PGA Tour. He won two playoff events on his way to the title. Stenson has seven top-10 finishes in his last nine events, including six top-3 finishes.

McIlroy has not played well this season and has seen his ranking drop from No. 1 in the world to No. 6. He has not won in 2013 and only has four top-10 finishes worldwide this year.

The event is being played on the Masters course at Lake Malaren Golf Club, which was designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 2011. McIlroy won the 2011 Shanghai Masters at Lake Malaren, defeating Anthony Kim in a playoff.

This is the second European Tour event to be played in China in 2013. Brett Rumford won the Volvo China Open in April at Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin. This is the seventh different European Tour event to be played in China, joining the Volvo China Open, WGC-HSBC Champions, UBS Hong Kong Open, BMW Asian Open, TCL Classic and Johnnie Walker Classic. China has also hosted the World Cup five times.

Last year, Peter Hanson bogeyed the final hole, but managed to hang on and win. Hanson carded rounds of 66-64-70-67 to beat then world No. 1 McIlroy by a single stroke. Hanson finished his sixth European Tour title at 21-under-par 267.

The European Tour remains in China next week for the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shenzhen, where Ian Poulter will defend his title.
