Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Fantasy quarterbacks dominated Week 6 action in the early going, with three "one o'clock start" signal callers throwing for more than 300 yards and four others having good statistical days.
Matt Schaub led his Texans team and all fantasy QBs with 379 yards, one touchdown in the air and the game winner on the ground. His primary target was Andre Johnson who posted 178 yards and one score.
Drew Brees, who cracked the 300-yard mark for the fifth time in six weeks, put up 320 yards and three scores on 26-for-30 passing in a 34-3 rout of the Oakland Raiders. And he did it once again without his top receiver in Marques Colston and his top tight end in Jeremy Shockey.
Rookie Matt Ryan was the third member of the "One O'clock Club" to throw for 300 yards and the final 26 were the most important as he hit Michael Jenkins with one second left to set up a game-winning, 48-yard, Jason Elam field goal to beat the Chicago Bears.
And there could easily have been more 300-yard throwers. Gus Frerotte had 301 yards until a late-game screen pass to Adrian Peterson resulted in a five-yard loss. Peyton Manning would have joined the group but his Colts blew out the Baltimore Ravens and he didn't have much of a reason to throw the ball in the second half after his three first-half TD passes ended any suspense as to who would win the game.
Kyle Orton ended the day with 286 yards and what he thought was a game-winning TD pass to Rashied Davis until Ryan came up with his end-of-the-game heroics.
Meanwhile, Chad Pennington had 284 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Dolphins' loss to Houston. Patrick Cobbs was a surprise primary target with 138 yards and both touchdowns on three catches. If you started Cobbs, you are a fantasy genius, should quit your day job, and join fantasy leagues for a living.
In the late session, four quarterbacks led the way. Tony Romo had 321 yards and three scores in a losing effort in Arizona. Donovan McNabb had 280 yards and two touchdowns in a win over San Francisco and David Garrard posted 276 yards and one TD in a win at Denver. Aaron Rodgers had only 208 yards, but threw two touchdowns and ran for a third.
All told, 11 quarterbacks had good fantasy point days.the most of them. He has five TDs including two last week against a good Buffalo defense. Expect more of the same in the coming weeks. He is ranked 28th on the fantasy points list for running backs.
