Start T-Rich in Week 3?
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - When you hear Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano say that Trent Richardson "is like a rolling ball of butcher knives," there are two immediate thoughts that pop into your head.

The first is that Pagano has a way with words.

The second is that Richardson is going to be a fantasy monster now that he has donned Colts' blue in place of Cleveland Browns', well, brown.

But what about Week 3?

T-Rich will be active, that much is guaranteed. But he'll be playing on the road against the San Francisco 49ers, one of the toughest run defenses in the league. He'll also be playing in an offense he had about three days to learn.

All logic says you should bench him. But since when has fantasy football been logical?

While Richardson isn't likely to play every down Sunday and probably will struggle to reach 100 yards rushing, he'll still be involved enough to make him worth using.

The most you can realistically expect to get out of a backup plug-in is about 10 points. And even if Richardson rushes for 60 yards on 16 carries, all he'll need to do is force one in the end zone to provide owners with a double-digit game.

The Colts will need all hands on deck to upset the 49ers after Seattle embarrassed San Francisco Sunday night, so there's even a chance Richardson touches the football 20 times.

When asked what kind of workload he expected out of Richardson Sunday, Pagano said, "As much as he can handle."

Richardson has touched the football an average of 21 times in his 17 career games, so I'd say he can handle a lot. Especially when he won't be facing many nine-man fronts with Andrew Luck at quarterback instead of Brandon Weeden.

The 49ers have allowed four touchdowns to running backs over the first two games, including three to Seattle's Marshawn Lynch last week, so it's not like they are invincible.

And based on how few holes he had to run through in Cleveland, the 49ers are going to look like the softest defense he has faced since he was in college.
