Insight: It was a power-play goal, and Karlsson now has five goals on the season. He has 14 points through 19 games, but is also -4 overall.

Description: Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is off to a really poor start.
Insight: The season is nearly a quarter of th way done, and Pietrangelo has just seven points after scoring 51 in 81 games last season. He is also minus-five after posting a plus-20 rating a season ago. Hopefully he can turn it around starting Saturday.

Insight: Boston won on its seventh shootout attempt. Seidenberg has three goals and four assists this season.

Description: Devils defenseman Jon Merrill will not play Friday versus Edmonton while still dealing with an arm/hand injury.
Insight: He hasn't played since Nov 1, but should be back soon as he is practicing. He's tallied a goal and three assists in 11 games.

Description: Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is doing some agility drills, but has yet to return to the ice, according to D.J. Bean of WEEI,com.
Insight: Chara tore his posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in late October and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Even at age 37, he is a huge part of the Bruins and his fantasy teams' defense. It looks like it will be closer to the larger six week timetable.

Description: Predators defenseman Shea Weber scored an early power play goal on Thursday versus the Senators.
Insight: Unfortunately for Nashville, they did not score again until early in the third period and lost, 3-2. Weber has six goals and six assists this season with a tremendous plus-11 rating.

Description: Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman scored two goals in Tuesday's shootout win against the Ducks.
Insight: He also had four shots on goal and was +2 on the night. Wideman now has seven goals and 11 points this season, which is very solid for a defenseman.

Insight: He had one goal and two assists, along with two shots on goal and a -1 rating on the night. Vatanen has been productive, and now has five goals and 16 points through 20 games.

Insight: It was his third goal of the season, and he now has 10 points overall. While the point toal is nice, Ekman-Larsson is a dreadful -9 on the season.

Insight: He was also +3 on the night, and now has 11 points through 18 games, and is +11 overall. Owners should be pleased.

Description: Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman is one month into his 4-6 week timetable and all is progressing about as planned.
Insight: Hedman's broken hand had the cast removed and he's been working on his skating conditioning, according to a Tampa Tribune report. He's still about two weeks away which would put him at the six-week mark of the timetable. Hedman had started strong with seven points in the first five games after posting a career-high 55 points last season.

Description: Arizona defenseman Keith Yandle had three points in Friday's victory against the Canucks.
Insight: He had a goal and two assists, along with four shots on goal and +2 ratingon the night. Yandle has been great this season, with 14 total points in 17 games.

Insight: Campbell has only four points on the season, and should be considered a relevant fantasy option.

Insight: He also had two shots and a +1 rating on the night. Girardi is as solid as a blueliner as they come, and he now has five points and a +3 rating on the season.

Description: Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (shoulder) has been activated from the injured reserve.
Insight: Spurgeon (2 G, 4 A, plus 7 rating) makes has been a viable fantasy option this season, so should be back in lineups tonight.

Description: Penguins defenseman Kris Letang exited Monday's game and went into the locker room during the first period. UPDATE: Letang returned to the ice early in the second period.
Insight: Letang had a big collison with a Rangers player and looked to be experiencing some pain in his leg. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Letang has not returned to the ice since the hit. Stay posted for updates.
