Chris Stewart, RWHot12/16/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: St. Louis right wing Chris Stewart netted two goals in Monday night's loss to Ottawa.

Description: St. Louis left wing Alex Steen (illness) will be a game-time decision Saturday against the Ducks, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Alexander Steen, LWHot11/28/2013 12:19:00 PM

Insight: Steen looked to be going into a regression period when he had zero points in three games from Nov. 17-21, but he has rebounded with four points in the last three. There's no way anyone can be skeptical at this point, as Steen has 20 goals and 30 points in 24 games.
Kevin Shattenkirk, D11/25/2013 8:33:00 PM
Description: St. Louis defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk missed Monday's game against Minnesota because of the flu. SOURCE: Jeremy Rutherford, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Description: Blues center David Backes scored his ninth goal of the season Thursday against the Bruins.
Insight: Backes only had six goals in 48 games in 2012-13, but he already has three more than that in 21 games this season. The Backes-T.J. Oshie-Alexander Steen line has been one of the most successful lines in the NHL this season.

Description: Blues forward Patrik Berglund is expected to miss Thursday's game against Boston with an upper body injury.

Brenden Morrow, LW11/19/2013 9:38:00 PM

T.J. Oshie, C11/16/2013 11:04:00 PM
Description: St. Louis center T.J. Oshie scored his first goal since Oct. 26 Saturday against Carolina.
Insight: Oshie was coming off a four-assist game Thursday against Colorado and now has three goals and 17 points in 18 games. The David Backes, Alex Steen and Oshie line is really clicking and providing ridiculous fantasy production for all involved.
Alexander Steen, LWHot11/16/2013 11:00:00 PM
Description: St. Louis left wing Alex Steen had a goal and one assist Saturday against Carolina, giving him 17 goals in 18 games.
Insight: It was easy to be skeptical of Steen's production at first -- he's 29 and has never had more than 24 goals or 51 points in a season -- but there's been no slowing his roll so far. He's also taking more SOG lately than he was earlier in the season, which should help him maintain some of his scoring even when his .266 scoring percentage dips. Even if you're selling high, there's no reason to accept anything other than a proven star player in return at this point.
Brian Elliott, G11/16/2013 5:32:00 PM
Description: St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott will be back in net Saturday against Carolina.
Insight: Elliott is one of the top backup goalies in the NHL but he has rarely received the chance to play this season. Saturday will be just his fourth start of the season. If he plays well, he could get more starts, as Jaroslav Halak has posted an .887 SV% in November.

Description: St. Louis center T.J. Oshie played the role of master distributor Thursday in a win over Colorado.
Insight: Oshie finished the night with a season-high four assists. It's been a while since Oshie scored a goal of his own but he does have six assists this month.
Alexander Steen, LWHot11/14/2013 10:42:00 PM
Description: St. Louis left wing Alex Steen lit the lamp twice in Thursday's blowout win over Colorado.
Insight: It's already Steen's third multi-goal effort of the season. With 16 goals in his first 17 games, Steen is as hot as any skater in the league right now.
Jordan Leopold, D11/12/2013 2:11:00 PM
Description: Blues defenseman Jordan Leopold is on injured reserve and will miss at least two months after hand surgery.

Alexander Steen, LWHot11/10/2013 11:24:00 AM

Description: St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott will get the start Thursday against the Flames.

Alexander Steen, LWHot11/5/2013 10:47:00 PM
Description: Blues winger Alex Steen scored his 13th goal of the season Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Insight: Amazing. Steen now has 13 goals and 19 points in 13 games this season. While it's doubtful he can keep this up -- he's 29 years old and his career high in points is 51 -- fantasy owners also shouldn't sell him unless they can get back a proven star in return.
Jason Arnott, C11/5/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Jason Arnott has announced his retirement from the NHL.
Insight: The 39-year-old will walk away with 417 goals in 1,244 career games. He last played for the Blues in 2012.

Description: Blues winger Magnus Paajarvi was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 26 due to an upper body injury.

Description: Blues winger Brenden Morrow will miss Friday's game against Florida after suffering a rib injury in Tuesday's game with Winnipeg.
Insight: He'll be re-evaluated on Monday. Morrow produced 25 points in 44 games last season and has two goals and one assist in nine games this season.
Brenden Morrow, LW10/30/2013 7:00:00 PM
Description: Blues winger Brenden Morrow is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, according to Lou Korac of NHL.com.
Insight: Morrow suffered the injury Tuesday when he took a cross check in the third period. St. Louis' next game is Friday at Florida, so we should know by Thursday if Morrow traveled with the team.
Chris Stewart, RW10/29/2013 1:28:00 PM
Description: Blues winger Chris Stewart is probable for Tuesday's game against Winnipeg while recovering from an upper body injury.
Insight: Stewart's 18 goals and 18 assists in 48 games exceeded what he produced the previous season in 79 games, but his mediocre two points through the first nine games might mean he's returning to a lower production level.
Alex Pietrangelo, D10/29/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo had a goal and an assist for the second straight game Tuesday against the Jets.
Insight: The 23-year-old blueliner has two goals and 10 points in his first 10 games. He should approach 50 points this season.

Barret Jackman, D10/25/2013 11:59:00 AM
Description: Blues defenseman Barret Jackman is probable for Friday's game against Vancouver due to an upper body injury.
Insight: Jackman has little fantasy value as he's usually posting less than 20 points a season.
Alex Pietrangelo, D10/25/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is dealing withan upper-body injury, but is probable for Friday's game against Vancouver
Insight: The 23-year-old blueliner has six assists and a +4 in his first seven games this season. In his last two full seasons he's averaged 47 points.
Matt D'Agostini, RW10/24/2013 1:50:00 PM
Description: Penguins winger Matt D'Agostini is expected to be activated from the injured reserve for Saturday's game against Toronto.
Insight: D'Agostini is on IR with an upper-body injury. Even when he returns his role may not allow him to be useful to fantasy owners.
Alex Pietrangelo, D10/20/2013 3:25:00 PM
Description: Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo suffered an upper-body injury while blocking a shot Saturday against Winnipeg.
Insight: Pietrangelo could practice Monday, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The 23-year-old blueliner has six assists and a +4 in the first seven games this season.

Description: Blues winger Alex Steen has seven goals and 11 points in his first seven games this season.
Insight: Steen had two goals Friday night against the Jets. The 29-year-old has attempted 20 SOG in seven games and scored at a .350 clip, well above his .095 career percentage. Even if that regresses, he should still top his career-high 51 points this season.
Brian Elliott, G10/18/2013 4:46:00 PM
Description: Blues goaltender Brian Elliott will make his first start of the season Friday at Winnipeg. Elliott wasn't need the first four games but the Blues had to pull Jaroslav Halak Tuesday against San Jose after he allowed four goals in two periods.
Insight: The 28-year-old Elliott had a tumultuous start to the 2012-13 season, going 3-7-1 with a 3.65 GAA and an .851 SV% in the first three months, but went 11-2-0 with a 1.28 GAA, a .948 SV% and three shutouts in April. If he can play well Friday, he could earn more playing time, as Blues coach Ken Hitchcock has showed the tendency to play the hot hand.
Brenden Morrow, LW10/18/2013 4:32:00 PM
Description: Blues winger Brenden Morrow (upper body) will miss Friday's game due to an upper-body injury.
Insight: The 34-year-old Morrow had some neck pain after being hit by Brent Burns Tuesday, but he was able to play Thursday night so it's unclear if Friday's injury is related.

Description: St. Louis winger Vladimir Tarasenko has scored a goal in four straight games.
Insight: The 21-year-old gave us a glimpse of his potential early last season before suffering a concussion and getting inconsistent playing time when he returned. He's off to another flying start with four goals and five points in the first five games.

Jaroslav Halak, GHot10/12/2013 2:55:00 PM
Description: St. Louis netminder Jaroslav Halak will make a fourth straight start Saturday against the Rangers.
Insight: Halak has started out 3-0-0 with a 1.34 GAA and a .948 SV%. The Blues have not had to play Brian Elliott for a single minute yet.
Matt D'Agostini, RW10/11/2013 10:18:00 AM
Description: Penguins winger Matt D'Agostini is not expected to return to practice until the middle of next week.

Insight: The 21-year-old started off his rookie season red hot with five goals and 10 points over his first eight games, but he slowed down before suffering a concussion in February and finished with eight goals and 19 points in 38 games. He should see more ice time as a sophomore and has the talent to be a standout player.
Brenden Morrow, LW10/5/2013 11:06:00 PM
Description: Winger Brenden Morrow had his first Blues goal and assist Saturday against the Panthers.
Insight: The 34-year-old Morrow was quiet in his debut with the team Thursday. He spent his entire career with Dallas, racking up 528 points in 835 games before being traded to the Penguins last March. He had six goals and 14 points in 15 games with the Penguins, but don't expect that kind of production with the Blues, who are stocked with capable forwards.
Jaroslav Halak, G10/5/2013 11:03:00 PM
Description: St. Louis netminder Jaroslav Halak needed to make just 19 stops to shut out the Panthers Saturday night.
Insight: Being a Blues goaltender is great. For several years St. Louis has ranked near the top of the league for fewest SOG allowed, and Halak and Brian Elliott have not had to do much to post excellent GAAs.
Jaroslav Halak, G10/3/2013 6:03:00 PM
Description: St. Louis netminder Jaroslav Halak will start the season opener Thursday against the Predators.
Insight: Halak had a subpar .899 SV% last season but since the Blues didn't allow many SOG he still had a strong 2.14 GAA. Injuries limited him to 16 games (15 starts), however, and he sat behind Brian Elliott in the playoffs. The two will be in a timeshare again in 2013-14, with Halak getting 55-60 percent of the starts. Jake Allen, who went 9-4-0 with a .905 SV% and a 2.46 GAA as a rookie, could be back up with the big club if either Halak or Elliott struggles.
Brenden Morrow, LW10/2/2013 7:13:00 PM
Description: Newly acquired Blues left wing Brenden Morrow is having difficulty obtaining a work visa. SOURCE: St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Brenden Morrow, LW9/23/2013 9:52:00 PM
Description: St. Louis signed veteran left wing Brenden Morrow to a one-year deal on Monday. SOURCE: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Insight: It's Morrow's third stop in the last six months after spending his first 12 and a half years with Dallas. In 44 games last year, the 34-year-old produced 12 goals, 13 assists and a -3 rating.
