New York Rangers Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Rick Nash, LW5/26/2015 11:05:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Rick Nash had a goal and three assists in the, 7-3, victory in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday.
Insight: The top line of the New York Rangers was just outstanding. Derick Brassard has a hat trick with two assists, J.T. Miller had a goal and three assists and Nash had his four points. Nash started the playoffs slowly, but he has seven points in the last three games. Game 7 is on Friday.
Derick Brassard, C5/26/2015 11:02:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derick Brassard had a hat trick in the, 7-3, rout in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday.
Insight: Brassard just had a massive stat line with three goals, two assists, 10 shots on net and a plus-five rating. He also won seven faceoffs. Brassard has nine goals and six assists with a plus-nine rating in 18 postseason games.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/26/2015 10:57:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had an off night, allowing three goals on 38 shots, but it was enough to force Game 7.
Insight: That's because New York scored seven goals, which is the most for the Rangers this postseason. Lundqvist wasn't bad as he actually made some really nice saves in key situations, but his final stat line was just ok. He has a .921 save percentage in what was his 11th victory this postseason. Game 7 is Friday.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/18/2015 10:59:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had, by far, his worst game of the postseason as he allowed six goals in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Lightning.
Insight: Lundqvist didn't play as bad as the final stat line suggests, but he only made 20 saves on 26 shots. Three of the six goals came on the power play and another one was on a breakaway opportunity that Tampa Bay generated despite being down two men. Lundqvist is now 9-5 this postseason. The series is tied, 1-1.
Derek Stepan, C5/18/2015 10:55:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan extended his point streak to five games, but the Rangers lost Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, 6-2.
Insight: Stepan tied the game at one with a power-play goal in the first period, but Tampa Bay played with one fewer active forward, which really seemed to confuse the Rangers and their line changes. Stepan finished with five shots and a minus-two rating. The series is tied 1-1.
Derek Stepan, C5/16/2015 3:44:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan had another key point in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Lightning on Saturday.
Insight: Stepan scored the first goal of the game with 13 seconds remaining in the second period. That was Stepan's four goal of the playoffs and fourth point in the last three postseason games. New York leads the series, 1-0.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/16/2015 3:40:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist stopped 23 shots in the, 2-1, victory over the Lightning in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday.
Insight: Lundqvist only allowed one goal, which came with the Lightning on their deadly power play. Lundqvist and the Rangers, however, killed the final two penalties and scored with under three minutes to go in regulation. Lundqvist is 9-4-0 this postseason.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/13/2015 11:09:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 35 saves in the Game 7 overtime victory over the Capitals in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Insight: Lundqvist only allowed a goal to Alex Ovechkin in the first period, which was an unstoppable shot. New York controlled much of the game in the third period, but Lundqvist had to make some nice saves in the beginning of overtime to keep the Rangers in it. This series was one of the best goaltending battles of recent memory. Lundqvist allowed more than two goals just once in this series. In the playoffs, he is 8-4 with a 1.60 GAA and .944 save percentage.
Derek Stepan, C5/13/2015 11:02:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan scored the game-winner in overtime of Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Capitals.
Insight: Stepan won the faceoff and then slipped to the left side of the goal. The puck made its way to defenseman Keith Yandle, who took a slap shot from the point. Stepan pounced on the rebound and buried his shot passed a diving Branden Holtby. New York won, 2-1, and won the series, 4-3. The Rangers will face the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Ryan McDonagh, D5/8/2015 10:54:00 PM
Description: Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonaugh was the hero Friday against Washington.
Insight: After Chris Kreider scored with under two minutes left in the thirsd to send the game into overtime, McDonagh lit the lamp to force a Game 6. The goal has his second of the postseason.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/4/2015 10:12:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 21 saves on 22 shots in Game 3 versus the Capitals, but it wasn't enough as Washington edged New York, 1-0.
Insight: The only goal Lundqvist allowed was a bad angle shot taken from Jay Beagle. The Capitals center just put the puck on goal from behind the net, and it bounced off Lundqvist's stretched out skate and into the net. Lundqvist is 5-3 with a .934 save percentage this postseason, but Washington leads the series, 2-1.
Derick Brassard, C5/2/2015 3:54:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derick Brassard scored the eventual game-winner Saturday versus Washington.
Insight: He also had three shots and a plus-one rating in the game. Brassard now has four goals this postseason. Dan Boyle and Chris Kreider also lit the lamp for the Rangers.
Henrik Lundqvist, G4/30/2015 10:21:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist played well in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals versus the Capitals, but he allowed a bad goal that cost New York the game.
Insight: With 1.3 seconds left, Joel Ward slipped the pick right below Lundqvist's pad to win, 2-1. Ward was wide open right in front of the net, but Ludnqvist usually stops that shot. Capitals take a, 1-0, series lead.
Henrik Lundqvist, G4/22/2015 9:59:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist came up big during Wednesday's Game 4 win over the Penguins.

Chris Kreider, LW4/20/2015 10:08:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Chris Kreider scored the game-winning goal in Monday's Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals versus the Penguins.
Insight: It didn't count as a power-play goal, but the Pittsburgh penalty had just ended, and they still didn't have five skaters defending. Marc Staal made a tremendous pass off the end boards behind Marc-Andre Fleury. The puck bounced to Kreider's skate, which he buried in the back of the net. New York leads the series, 2-1.
Henrik Lundqvist, G4/20/2015 10:03:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist didn't get a ton of work, but he stopped all the ones he had to in order for New York to win Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Monday versus the Penguins, 2-1.
Insight: Pittsburgh didn't get a shot on goal in the first 15 minutes of the game, and the Penguins only had 11 shots through the first two periods, but they turned it on in the third to record 13 shots on Lundqvist in the period. The Rangers netminder let one slip by with six minutes to go in regulation, but that was it. New York regains home ice and leads the series, 2-1.
Ryan McDonagh, D4/16/2015 10:08:00 PM
Description: Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonaugh scored the game-winning goal in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Penguins.
Insight: McDonaugh took a shot from the point on the power play, and it just beat Fleury on his stick side. The shot didn't appear to deflect off anything, so it was probably a save Fleury should have made. The goal put the Rangers ahead, 2-0, at the end of the first period. Fleury and Pittsburgh responded, but the comeback fell short. The Rangers took Game 1, 2-1.
Henrik Lundqvist, G4/16/2015 10:02:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 24 saves in the Game 1 victory in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Penguins on Thursday.
Insight: Lundqvist didn't get much consistent work, but he made some quality saves when the Penguins turned up the heat in the second and third periods. The Rangers defense in front of Lundqvist is so good that Pittsburgh really didn't get a ton of great scoring chances.
Henrik Lundqvist, G4/11/2015 6:32:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist won his 30th game of the season on Saturday as New York beat Washington, 4-2.
Insight: Lundqvist made 22 saves in the victory to improve his record to 30-13-3. Fantasy owners were a bit disappointed with Lundqvist's numbers this season, but it wasn't his fault he missed so much time with his neck injury. Lundqvist and the Rangers appears poised for another deep playoff run.
Carl Hagelin, LW4/7/2015 9:37:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Carl Hagelin was everywhere as he amassed seven shots on net in the, 4-2, victory over the Devils on Tuesday.

Kevin Hayes, RWHot4/7/2015 9:34:00 PM
Description: Rangers rookie winger Kevin Hayes had a goal and two assists in the, 4-2, victory over the Devils on Tuesday.

Henrik Lundqvist, G4/6/2015 10:06:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 29 saves in the, 4-3, overtime victory ove the Blue Jackets on Monday.
Insight: Lunqvist did allow three goals in the victory, so his save percentage was just .906 and the GAA was just under three. Don't be surprised if the Rangers rest Lundqvist once or twice with three games remaining the Rangers pretty much guaranteed to be the top seed in the east.
Derek Stepan, C4/6/2015 10:00:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan scored the game-winner in overtime versus the Blue Jackets on Monday.
Insight: Stepan scored on a pass from Keith Yandle with 50 seconds to go in overtime. Henrik Lundqvist, G4/2/2015 10:44:00 PM

Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist did not do well in his return to the ice on Saturday.

Chris Kreider, LW3/26/2015 10:06:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Chris Kreider scored twice during Thursday's win over the Senators.
Insight: He also had an assist, five shots, and a plus-three rating on the night. Kreider now has 20 goals, 40 points, 86 penalty minutes, and a plus-19 rating overall.

Henrik Lundqvist, G3/25/2015 3:11:00 PM
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist will dress for Thursday's game versus the Senators according to the Bergen Record.
Insight: Normally third-string goaltender Mackenzie Skapski has been sent back to the AHL, so that means the Rangers are making a spot for Lundqvist. He will probably be the backup on Thursday and then start on either Saturday or Sunday.

Description: Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot made 36 saves in the, 7-2, victory over the Ducks on Sunday.
Insight: Talbot has just been tremendous for the Rangers. With this victory, New York appears to be the front runner for the President's Trophy. New York, Montreal and Ahaheim all have 99 points, but New York has played the fewest amount of games. Talbot is 19-7-4 this season, and owners should continue to start him until Henrik Lundqvist returns.

Insight: Talbot allowed just one goal in the third period. New York appeared to score a goal in the first period, but it was disallowed. Description: Rangers backup goaltender Cam Talbot continued to fill in nicely for the injured Henrik Lundqvist.
Insight: Talbot allowed just one goal and 26 total shots, and improved his record to 13-6-3 in a win Monday over Nashville. Talbot should be active everywhere until Lundqvist returns.

Insight: He had the game-winning goal in New York's 3-2 victory over the Blues. Nash had three total points (2 goals, 1 assist), four shots on goal, and a +2 rating on Thursday. Solid start to the 2014-15 season.
Chris Kreider, LW10/9/2014 10:46:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Chris Kreider had two points in the season opener against St. Louis.
Insight: This is a strong start for Kreider, who registered a goal and an assist, along with two shots and a +1 rating. With Kreider on New York's top line, he could be in line for a breakout season.
Carl Hagelin, LW9/30/2014 8:15:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Carl Hagelin will top last year's 15 goals and 16 assists numbers.
Insight: We expect a lot from Hagelin, who is one of the fastest players in the NHL. There is a chance that he will play with Mats Zuccarello and Derick Brassard this year. If that happens, we like the combination of Haelin's speed and Zuccarello's grittiness to score a bunch of goals.
Mats Zuccarello, LW9/30/2014 8:11:00 PM
Description: Rangers left wing Mats Zuccarello had a breakout season last year, so now fans are wondering if he can repeat that success.
Insight: Zuccarello scored 19 goals and had 40 assists playing with Benoit Pouliot and Derick Brassard last season. He will again play with Brassard, but Pouliot left via free agency. The pair will likely be a part of the Rangers second line, but stay tuned because they could also end up in a checking-line role. Either way, Zuccarello is worth stashing on your team.
Ryan McDonagh, D9/30/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonaugh really surprised fans with the amount of offensive production last season.
Insight: McDonaugh scored 14 goals and 43 points while adding another four goals and 17 points in the playoffs a year ago. He had the opportunity to play more offense and he took advantage. Veteran free agent signee Dan Boyle will likely take a part of that role away from McDonaugh this season, but McDonaugh is still expected to about 13 goals and 30 assists.
Martin St. Louis, RW9/30/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Martin St. Louis' fantasy value will greatly depend on linemate Rick Nash.
Insight: St. Louis disappointed Rangers fans with just eight points in 19 games after the trade deadline move last year. He then scored 15 points in 25 playoffs games. Not bad, but considering St. Louis has averaged a point per game over the course of seven seasons, it's not particularly good. St. Louis misses playing with Steven Stamkos and will need Nash to reemerge as a great scorer to make St. Louis a top fantasy forward.
Rick Nash, LW9/30/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Rick Nash should be a player owners can pick late on draft day.
Insight: Nash had a below average regular season which turned into a horrible playoffs last year. He had 39 points in 65 games and then just three goals in 25 playoffs games. We believe Nash can bounce back, but owners should not be picking him early. Take the upside he offers late in the draft.
Chris Kreider, LW9/30/2014 7:43:00 PM
Description: Rangers winger Chris Kreider is poised for a breakout fantasy season in 2014-2015.
Insight: Kreider has had problems staying on the ice, but when playing, he might be the best offensive force the Rangers have. He scored 13 points in 15 playoffs games despite missing time with injuries. Kreider will miss Stepan the first part of the season, but he is still a guy owners want in their lineup.
Derek Stepan, C9/30/2014 7:40:00 PM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan played three fewer minutes per game under first-year head coach Alain Vigneault last season.
Insight: Stephan fractured his fibula last week, so his fantasy value has already taken a huge hit, but even before the injury, his value was slightly dipping. Stepan really struggled last season, and there were questions about the Rangers depth chart coming into training camp. The injury certainly does not help Stepan's cause.
Derek Stepan, C9/25/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan fractured his fibula and will be out four-to-six weeks according to the Bergen Record.
Insight: Stepan will likely miss the first seven games of the regular season, but it should take much longer for him to get back into the swing of things. Missing training camp is never a good thing. Even if he returns in four weeks, his fantasy value has taken a hit.
Brad Richards, C6/21/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Brad Richards has been bought out by the Rangers. SOURCE: Nick Kypreos, Sportsnet
Insight: It's not unexpected and the move frees up nearly $7 million in cap room for New York. Richards was productive during his three-year stay in Manhattan, generating 56 goals and 95 assists in 210 games for the Blue Shirts. This season marked Richards' second trip to the Stanley Cup after winning it with the Lightning in 2004.
Daniel Carcillo, LW6/10/2014 3:20:00 PM
Description: New York Rangers left wing Daniel Carcillo is eligible to play in Game 4 after serving his suspension.
Insight: Whether he does, is another story. Carcillo only contributed in one fantasy category this season. He had 100 penalty minutes in 57 games.
Daniel Carcillo, LW6/3/2014 7:47:00 PM
Description: On appeal, New York left wing Daniel Carcillo had his suspension reduced from ten games to six. SOURCE: NHL.com
Insight: He made contact with an official in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals and sat out the rest of the series. Carcillo is eligible to return in Game 4 of the upcoming Stanley Cup Finals against the Kings.
Henrik Lundqvist, G5/29/2014 10:56:00 PM
Description: Henrik Lundqvist shook off a brutal outing in Game 5 to shut out Montreal in the Rangers' series-clinching win Thursday at Madison Square Garden.
Insight: New York is headed to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1994. Lundqvist has saved a remarkable 92.2 percent of the shots he's faced this postseason. The Rangers will face the winner of the Blackhawks/Kings series that resumes tomorrow night in Los Angeles.
J.T. Miller, C5/29/2014 11:23:00 AM
Description: Rangers rookie center J.T. Miller is doubtful for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final Tuesday against Montreal due to an upper body injury (shoulder).
Insight: He didn't travel with the team to Montreal for Game 5 and its unclear whether he'll be ready for this game. Miller has posted six points in 30 regular season games and two points in four playoff games.
John Moore, D5/28/2014 8:21:00 PM
Description: New York defenseman John Moore has been suspended for the last two games of the Eastern Conference Finals. Moore received a game misconduct for a high hit on Montreal right wing Dale Weise Tuesday in Game 5. SOURCE: NHL.com
Insight: If the Rangers clinch in Game 6, Moore will be suspended for the opening game of the Stanley Cup Finals. Moore has averaged 14 minutes of ice time per game in the postseason.
Chris Kreider, LWHot5/28/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Rangers winger Chris Kreider had a goal and three assists in New York's loss to Montreal in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday night.
Insight: Kreider has eight points in the series and 10 points in nine postseason games.
Derek Stepan, C5/28/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Rangers center Derek Stepan (jaw) had two goals in his return to the lineup for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Insight: Stepan broke his jaw in Game 3 when he took a high hit from Brandon Prust. He's produced nine points in his last six playoff games.
