New York Giants Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Josh Freeman, QB4/16/2014 12:38:00 PM
Description: The Giants have agreed to terms with Josh Freeman on a one-year contract, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
Insight: Freeman will compete with Curtis Painter and Ryan Nassib for the backup job. Freeman had an abysmal .429 completion percentage, 761 yards, two touchdowns and four picks in four starts last year (0-4). He was released by the Buccaneers and only made one start with the Vikings, a Monday Night disaster against the G-Men in which he went 20-of-53 for 190 yards.
Eli Manning, QB4/10/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: New York QB Eli Manning had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Thursday. He expects to be able to run again in approximately six weeks.
Insight: Manning hurt his ankle in Week 17 and has felt discomfort since. We're still waiting for Manning to find his form from 2011 (4,933 yards, 29 TDs).
David Wilson, RB4/4/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Giants coach Tom Coughlin said he expects running back David Wilson (neck surgery) to play in 2014, according to New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano.
Insight: The Giants protected themselves by signing Rashad Jennings and still have Peyton Hillis on the roster. Don't be surprised if they draft an RB in the mid-to-late rounds.
Mario Manningham, WR3/18/2014 7:11:00 PM
Description: Mario Manningham has returned to the Giants on a one-year deal.
Insight: Injuries limited Manningham to only six games last season. Manningham is probably best known for the sideline catch he made against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. The 27-year-old hasn't been a fantasy option since 2010 when he racked up 944 yards and nine touchdowns for the G-Men.
Walter Thurmond, CB3/16/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Cornerback Walter Thurmond has reached a one-year deal with the Giants. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL.com
Insight: The Legion of Boom has lost another member. In 12 games for Seattle last season, Thurmond racked up 33 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception. New York gave up 6.3 yards per passing attempt last season which was actually among the best in the league. Thurmond is likely to start alongside Prince Amukamara in the Giants' secondary.
Jon Beason, LB3/12/2014 2:38:00 PM
Description: Linebacker Jon Beason will re-sign with the Giants. SOURCE: Aditi Kinkhabwala, NFL Network
Insight: He was acquired by New York in a trade with Carolina last season. Beason has made three Pro Bowl appearances since entering the league in 2007.
Peyton Hillis, RB3/11/2014 6:08:00 PM
Description: The Giants have agreed to re-sign backup running back Peyton Hillis. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News
Insight: It's a two-year deal worth $1.8 million. Hillis was mostly a nonfactor last season, producing just 247 yards in seven appearances. At 6-foot-1 and 245 pounds, Hillis does carry some vulture potential. It will be interesting to see who the Giants give the rock to around the goal line next season.
David Wilson, RB1/9/2014 9:05:00 PM
Description: Giants running back David Wilson is scheduled to undergo neck surgery on January 16th. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News
Insight: The Giants know the operation is serious so they're not banking on him to be healthy for Week 1. Wilson has collected 504 rushing yards and five touchdowns in his first two years in the league.
Brandon Jacobs, RB1/3/2014 9:10:00 AM
Description: Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has announced his retirement.
Insight: Jacobs has been slow to recover from a knee injury and has not been a factor since 2011. His best season was in 2008 when he rushed for 1,089 yards and 15 touchdowns. The Giants are still hoping that David Wilson can play in 2014.
Jerrel Jernigan, WR12/29/2013 6:39:00 PM
Description: Giants wideout Jerrel Jernigan was the team's go-to receiver again in Week 17.
Insight: He recorded six catches for 90 yards and a score in New York's 20-6 victory over the Redskins. Jerrigan also added 57 yards rushing with 49 coming on a touchdown at the end of the third quarter. Jerrigan could play a pivotal role in the Giants' passing attack next season if Hakeem Nicks leaves in free agency as he's expected to.
Hakeem Nicks, WR12/29/2013 2:38:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks left Sunday's game against Washington with an ankle injury. His return is questionable.
Insight: The Giants aren't playing for anything and Nicks likely won't be back with the team so there isn't much incentive for him to return. He caught two balls for 50 yards in the first half.
Rueben Randle, WR12/29/2013 2:29:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Rueben Randle left Sunday's game against the Redskins with a knee injury and will not return.
Insight: He had been questionable heading into the game with a bad knee. With Victor Cruz out for the season and Randle now sidelined, we expect a heavy dose of Jerrel Jernigan.
Rueben Randle, WR12/29/2013 11:29:00 AM
Description: New York wideout Rueben Randle is active for Sunday's season finale against Washington.
Insight: He had been questionable with a knee injury. With Victor Cruz out for the season, Randle should see plenty of targets in Week 17. He had three catches for 20 yards against the Redskins earlier this month.
Rueben Randle, WR12/27/2013 1:00:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Rueben Randle (knee) practiced Friday, according to Jordan Raanan of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Insight: Randle's knee "flared up" and caused him to miss practice the last two days, but he insisted Thursday that he'll play in Week 17 against the Redskins. The second-year receiver has 41 catches, 611 yards and six scores this season. He saw nine targets in Week 16 with Victor Cruz out but only had four catches for 40 yards. Fantasy owners shouldn't trust any Giants receivers in Week 17.
David Wilson, RB12/26/2013 6:15:00 PM
Description: From the looks of it, injured Giants halfback David Wilson has his work cut out for him if he wants to resume his career in the NFL. SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: Wilson is having trouble getting clearance following his latest neck injury and some doctors are recommending that he retire. Injuries and poor play have limited the 2012 first round pick to just 115 rushing attempts in his first two seasons.
Andre Brown, RB12/26/2013 2:50:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (concussion) returned to practice on Thursday, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime against Detroit this past week and ended up losing a fumble on the play. He should be the primary ball carrier Sunday with Peyton Hillis as his backup.
Peyton Hillis, RB12/25/2013 4:46:00 PM
Description: Peyton Hillis has passed his concussion tests, according to Paul Schwartz of the NY Post.
Insight: Hillis should resume his role as backup to Andre Brown. Hillis has little to no fantasy value as long as Brown is over his head trauma.
Andre Brown, RB12/22/2013 7:53:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime against Detroit and ended up losing a fumble on the play. The call was upheld even though the replay showed Brown appeared to be down. He was carted to the locker room soon thereafter and his status for Week 17 is now in question. New York may have to sign Tiki Barber out of retirement.
Andre Brown, RB12/22/2013 7:33:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown was carted to the locker room to be checked for a concussion Sunday against the Lions.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime and ended up losing a fumble on the play. The call was upheld even though the replay showed Brown appeared to be down. He's done for the day.
Victor Cruz, WR12/19/2013 3:42:00 PM
Description: New York receiver Victor Cruz will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: He had an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee. Sunday against Detroit will be the first game Cruz has missed in three NFL seasons. He'll finish the year with 73 catches, four touchdowns and 998 receiving yards.
Victor Cruz, WR12/16/2013 10:43:00 AM
Description: According to a New York Daily News report, Giants receiver Victor Cruz (concussion, sprained knee) could miss the final two games of the season
Insight: If true, Cruz will finish the season two yards short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard season. The Giants have little to play for and probably won't take any chances with their best offensive weapon.
Victor Cruz, WR12/15/2013 3:37:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz is done for the day against the Seahawks with a concussion and a knee sprain, according to NFL.com.
Insight: Cruz started off the season with three 100-yard efforts and four touchdowns in the first four games, but hasn't done much since. Sunday, he collect two balls for 25 yards before the injury.
Victor Cruz, WR12/15/2013 3:26:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz went to the locker room in the third quarter to be checked out for a concussion.
Insight: Cruz started off the season with three 100-yard efforts and four touchdowns in the first four games, but hasn't done much since. Sunday, he collect two balls for 25 yards before the injury.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE12/13/2013 8:14:00 PM
Description: New York defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will be out against Sunday against the Seahawks.
Insight: Pierre-Paul's shoulder isn't improving and at this point, he might be better off sitting out the rest of the season. He hasn't played since Week 12 against the Cowboys.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE12/6/2013 1:53:00 PM
Description: The Giants are going to again be without defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul Sunday against San Diego.
Insight: Pierre-Paul is battling a shoulder injury. It's the second game Pierre-Paul has missed in four NFL seasons. Pierre-Paul recorded 16.5 sacks two seasons ago but is only on pace for three in 2013. Still, he's a good pass rusher and his absence should help Philip Rivers and the Chargers passing offense.
Hakeem Nicks, WR12/1/2013 7:17:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (abdomen) is active Sunday night against the Redskins.
Insight: Nicks was a surprise inactive last Sunday against Dallas but he practiced in full on Friday. The receiver has yet to hit paydirt this season.
Brandon Jacobs, RB11/29/2013 4:09:00 PM
Description: Brandon Jacobs won't be available Sunday when the Giants take on the Redskins.
Insight: He's out with a knee injury. With Jacobs sidelined, Andre Brown is firmly entrenched as a fantasy RB2.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE11/29/2013 3:18:00 PM
Description: The Giants are going to be without defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul Sunday against the Redskins.
Insight: Pierre-Paul is battling a shoulder injury. It's the first game Pierre-Paul has missed in four NFL seasons. Pierre-Paul recorded 16.5 sacks two seasons ago but is only on pace for three in 2013.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/27/2013 4:49:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (abdomen) was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to espnny.com.
Insight: Nicks got in a couple of limited practice sessions last week but was a surprise inactive Sunday at Dallas. He's on pace for 63 catches and 930 yards but hasn't hit paydirt yet.
Jim Cordle, C11/25/2013 2:38:00 PM
Description: Giants center Jim Cord;e has a partially torn patellar tendon in his left knee, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: It might cost him a game, but he should be able to play through it. Make Cordle questionable for Week 13.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/24/2013 2:58:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Hakeem Nicks won't play Sunday against the Cowboys.
Insight: Nicks is out with a strained abdominal muscle. Rueben Randle (29 catches, 460 yards, 6 TD) will be a must-start in fantasy leagues as long as Nicks is out of the lineup.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/24/2013 12:07:00 PM
Description: Hakeem Nicks' status appears to be in doubt for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Nicks' groin injury makes him a huge question mark. If Nicks does sit out, it should mean more targets for Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle. Keep in mind, Nicks has played all season without scoring a touchdown.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/21/2013 1:38:00 PM
Description: According to Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News, Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) was back on the practice field Thursday.
Insight: Nicks missed practice Wednesday. The receiver has racked up 620 yards this year but hasn't found the end zone yet. If he plays, he'll be a flex option this week against the Cowboys.
Brandon Jacobs, RB11/21/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (knee) was back on the practice field Thursday.
Insight: Andre Brown will get the majority of the workload, but Jacobs could steal some red zone and goal line carries.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/20/2013 9:26:00 PM
Description: According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks' groin injury is not considered serious.
Insight: Nicks missed practice Wednesday. The receiver has racked up 620 yards this year but hasn't found the end zone yet. If he plays, he'll be a flex option this week against the Cowboys.
Hakeem Nicks, WR11/20/2013 4:29:00 PM
Description: New York receiver Hakeem Nicks didn't practice on Wednesday. SOURCE: Dan Graziano, ESPN
Insight: He's dealing with some sort of groin issue. Nicks has racked up 620 yards this year but hasn't found the end zone yet. If he plays, he'll be a flex option this week against the Cowboys.
Victor Cruz, WR11/17/2013 7:19:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz had his first 100-yard game since Week 4 Sunday against Green Bay.
Insight: Cruz started off the season with three 100-yard efforts and four touchdowns in the first four games but averaged 57.8 yards and didn't have a touchdown over the last five games.
Andre Brown, RB11/10/2013 6:58:00 PM
Description: New York halfback Andre Brown got a huge workload Sunday in his first game back from a broken leg.
Insight: Brown produced 115 yards on 30 carries. He even added a touchdown from a yard out late in the third quarter. New York's backfield conundrum may finally be solved. If Brown is still available, be sure to put in a waiver claim for him next week.
Peyton Hillis, RB11/10/2013 1:54:00 PM
Description: Even with Andre Brown returning from a broken leg, Peyton Hillis has been tabbed as the starter for New York's game Sunday against Oakland. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News
Insight: The distinction of starter doesn't necessarily mean that Hillis will receive more carries. As bad as the Raiders' secondary is, their run defense has been solid. Even in a week with four teams on bye, Hillis and Brown are unlikely to draw much fantasy interest.
Victor Cruz, WR11/10/2013 11:41:00 AM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz is officially active for Sunday's contest against Oakland.
Insight: Cruz's status was in question earlier this week after sitting out Wednesday's practice with a neck injury. He returned to the field for Thursday and Friday's practice sessions, however, and should be a top-ten wideout this week versus a porous Raiders secondary.
Brandon Jacobs, RB11/10/2013 11:32:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's game with Oakland.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis and just activated Andre Brown were going to get all the rushing attempts anyway, so this shouldn't change any lineups.
Victor Cruz, WR11/8/2013 12:38:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz (neck) returned to a full practice Friday, according to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com.
Insight: Cruz wore a red non-contact jersey at practiceThursday, but not on Friday. As long as he doesn't suffer a setback, Cruz will be active in Week 10 against the Raiders and is a must-start against a secondary that just allowed seven passing touchdowns to the Eagles.
Andre Brown, RB11/8/2013 12:33:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg and on reserve/designated for return list) is expected to share time with Peyton Hillis in Week 10.
Insight: Brown says he feels "great" and is "ready to go." Meanwhile Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) missed Friday's practice. It will be interesting to see what kind of wokload distribution the team comes up with and which, if any, of the backs can be fantasy worthy assets. Our guess is a pretty even split with Hillis slightly ahead of Brown.
Victor Cruz, WR11/7/2013 4:47:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz (neck) returned to a limited practice Thursday, according to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com.
Insight: Cruz wore a red non-contact jersey at practice but should take contact Friday, coach Tom Coughlin said. As long as he doesn't suffer a setback, Cruz will be active in Week 10 against the Raiders and is a must-start against a secondary that just allowed seven passing touchdowns to the Eagles.
David Wilson, RB11/7/2013 4:17:00 PM
Description: The Giants placed David Wilson (neck) on injured reserve Thursday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
Insight: The Giants released a statement saying that Wilson had made "significant" progress in his recovery from a herniated disc in his neck, but evidently they didn't think the running back would be able to return this season. Wilson is expected to avoid surgery and will enter a make-or-break year in 2014 after disappointing in each of the last two seasons.
Peyton Hillis, RB11/6/2013 5:16:00 PM
Description: Giants coach Tom Coughlin says he will go into Week 10 against the Raiders with a "set plan" at running back, according to NJ.com.
Insight: Andre Brown will return from his fractured leg Sunday, but NJ.com expects Peyton Hillis to be the primary running back option with Brown and Brandon Jacobs mixed in. Coughlin isn't ready to turn Brown loose. "He’s ready to help," Coughlin said. "But there is a big difference between game day and practice." Brown should be owned in all leagues but shouldn't be started Sunday, while Hillis is a desperation flex option.
Victor Cruz, WR11/6/2013 11:46:00 AM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz won't practice on Wednesday. SOURCE: Jordan Raanan, NJ.com
Insight: He's still battling a neck injury. It's a little concerning because Cruz is coming off a bye and had all of last week to recover. If he can't go Sunday versus the Raiders, Reuben Randle may have to be in the WR2/flex discussion.
David Wilson, RB11/4/2013 8:42:00 PM
Description: Even though the Giants released a statement Monday regarding David Wilson's excellent progress in his recovery from a neck injury, it doesn't appear that he's close to returning. SOURCE: Giants.com
Insight: The good news is, it doesn't look like Wilson will need surgery. He's week-to-week. Andre Brown should take over as the lead back after the team's bye.
David Wilson, RB11/4/2013 11:08:00 AM
Description: Giants running back David Wilson will have another MRI this week to compare with the one he got right after his neck injury. The results will determine whether he plays again this season. SOURCE: ESPN New York
Insight: With Andre Brown scheduled back and Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs on the roster, the Giants have weathered the injury storm winning their last two games. Things are looking up for the offense.
Andre Brown, RB10/28/2013 5:41:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg and on reserve/designated for return list) says he'll play in Week 10 against the Raiders. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, NY Daily News.
Insight: Brown says he feels "great" and is "ready to go." While Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) also is expected to return in Week 10, Brown should be the workhorse. Peyton Hillis, who is on his last legs, managed to produce 166 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 46 touches the last two games, so Brown will be a definite starting fantasy option in Week 10. New York has a bye in Week 9.
Josh Brown, K10/27/2013 7:13:00 PM
Description: Giants kicker Josh Brown booted five field goals in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
Insight: Three of his kicks went for 40 yards or more. Brown hasn't missed a kick since Week 4 against the Chiefs.
Victor Cruz, WR10/27/2013 3:25:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz has returned to Sunday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: He left earlier with a neck injury but it wasn't serious. The Giants hold a 15-0 advantage in the fourth quarter and will probably be looking to run out the clock. Cruz has five grabs for 64 yards.
Victor Cruz, WR10/27/2013 3:12:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz exited Sunday's game against the Eagles after hurting his neck.
Insight: He went to the locker room for X-rays. With only a quarter left to go, he's a longshot to return. Cruz had five catches for 64 yards before the injury.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/27/2013 11:32:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's game with Philadelphia.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis will be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. He's worthy of a start, particularly in a week with six teams on a bye.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/25/2013 4:41:00 PM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis will be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. He's a flex consideration this week.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/25/2013 10:12:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and it appears unlikely that he'll be ready for Week 8 against Philadelphia.
Insight: Peyton Hilliis would be the primary back against the Eagles after posting 81 yards from scrimmage and a TD Monday night versus Minnesota. Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Hillis and Michael Cox.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/24/2013 11:31:00 AM
Description: New York running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't play Monday night against the Vikings and wasn't promising anything for Week 8, according to a New York Daily News report.
Insight: Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox. He's a low-end RB2 at best.
Hakeem Nicks, WR10/23/2013 10:06:00 PM
Description: Dan Graziano of ESPN.com notices that Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks can't get any separation from defenders this sesaon, likely because his legs are not the same due to multiple injuries the past few years.
Insight: Nicks dropped three passes, including a touchdown, Monday against the Vikings, but his trouble separating is the bigger concern. He's had to out-fight defenders to make most of his catches and has just 27 receptions on 56 targets (48.2%). That includes six catches on 18 targets the last two games. However, Nicks had nine catches for 142 yards on 12 targets in Week 5 against the Eagles, his opponent this Sunday. With six teams on bye, Nicks is a WR3 this week.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/22/2013 11:13:00 AM
Description: New York tailback Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) didn't play Monday night against the Vikings and will likely be a game-time decision in Week 8.
Insight: Even if Jacobs makes it back onto the field, expect him to share time with Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox. He's a low-end RB2 at best.
Peyton Hillis, RB10/22/2013 11:10:00 AM
Description: Giants running back Peyton Hillis was suddenly pushed into a primary role Monday night just days after signing with the team, when Brandon Jacobs couldn't play.
Insight: Hillis ran the ball 18 times for 36 yards and a score and caught five balls for 45 yards. it would be better for all if he doesn't see that big a workload and the hope is that Jacobs returns to be the primary ball carrier with Hillis the third-down receiving back.
Hakeem Nicks, WR10/22/2013 11:05:00 AM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks had a finger x-ray after Monday night's game.
Insight: Nicks dropped a few passes and this could have been the cause. It isn't likely to keep him out of the next game against Philadelphia, but if he keeps dropping passes fantasy owners will have to consider not starting him down the road.
Brandon Jacobs, RB10/21/2013 7:10:00 PM
Description: New York halfback Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) won't play Monday night against the Vikings.
Insight: Jacobs will hand over the backfield duties to Michael Cox, who is making his first career start. Veteran Peyton Hillis should also be in the mix for carries. The Giants are second-to-last in the NFL in rushing yards per game this season (67.8).
Corey Webster, 10/21/2013 10:41:00 AM
Description: Giants cornerback Corey Webster (groin) is probable for Monday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Webster's return to the lineup comes at a good time with the Giants facing Greg Jennings, Jerome Simpson and talented rookie Cordarrelle Patterson.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE10/21/2013 10:36:00 AM
Description: Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is questionable for Monday's game against Minnesota due to illness.
Insight: Saturday's missed practice session was the second in a row and he'll be a true game-time decision. He has 15 tackles and one sack this season and apparently isn't the same guy who posted 16.5 sacks and 93 tackles in 2011.
Andre Brown, RB10/17/2013 2:32:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg and on reserve/designated for return list) has begun practicing this week.
Insight: The Giants have a bye in Week 9 and Brown could return for Week 10. Given the state of the Giants running game, he should step in and be the workhorse option. If Brown is available and you have space on your roster, now is the time to stash him.
Peyton Hillis, RB10/16/2013 11:17:00 AM
Description: The journey continues for running back Peyton Hillis. The Giants will be Hillis' fourth team in the last three seasons. SOURCE: Mike Garafolo, Fox Sports 1
Insight: The G-Men are looking for as much depth as they can get at running back with David Wilson (neck injury) out for the foreseeable future. Hillis hasn't been the same player since making the cover of Madden in 2011 (896 yards in 26 games). The curse strikes again.
David Wilson, RB10/14/2013 10:01:00 PM
Description: It looks like New York halfback David Wilson will avoid season-ending surgery on his injured neck. SOURCE: Mike Garafolo, Fox Sports 1
Insight: There's an outside chance he'll be able to play next week against the Vikings though it's probably a longshot. Brandon Jacobs had a good game in his absence last Thursday (106 rushing yards) and he could be worth a start again in Week 7.
David Wilson, RB10/11/2013 4:35:00 PM
Description: Giants running back David Wilson said that doctors fear he has spinal stenosis and is worried that his neck injury is season-ending. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News
Insight: Spinal stenosis could be a long-term concern for Wilson. He'll have a second opinion on his neck and spine Monday. Brandon Jacobs ran better than he has in years Thursday at Chicago, putting up 106 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, and would be the starter for the rest of the season if Wilson is out.
David Wilson, RB10/9/2013 10:21:00 PM
Description: New York running back David Wilson's neck injury is disc-related and should keep him out for "several weeks." SOURCE: New York Daily News
Insight: That leaves the backfield chores to Brandon Jacobs and Da'Rell Scott. Wilson was doing poorly before the injury (just 146 yards on 44 touches) so this shouldn't affect many fantasy rosters.
David Wilson, RB10/9/2013 8:22:00 PM
Description: Giants halfback David Wilson may miss multiple games with his injured neck. SOURCE: Art Stapleton, Bergen Record
Insight: He's already been ruled out for Thursday's contest and now his status for next week's game against the Vikings is also in question. Neither of Wilson's backups, Da'Rell Scott or Brandon Jacobs, have much fantasy appeal.
David Wilson, RB10/8/2013 2:00:00 PM
Description: New York running back David Wilson will miss Thursday's game against Chicago due to his neck injury, according to coach Tom Coughlin.
Insight: Wilson left Sunday's game early and now says that he feels tingling in his neck. The Giants re-signed Da'Rell Scott on Monday and he along with Brandon jacobs will make up the Giants' patchwork backfield.
David Wilson, RB10/7/2013 8:09:00 PM
Description: New York running back David Wilson missed practice on Monday and isn't expected to play Thursday night against Chicago. SOURCE: Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News
Insight: Wilson left Sunday's game early and now says that he feels tingling in his neck. The Giants re-signed Da'Rell Scott on Monday in case Wilson can't play.
Da'Rel Scott, RB10/7/2013 8:03:00 PM
Description: The Giants re-signed halfback Da'Rell Scott on Monday. SOURCE: Mike Garafolo, Fox Sports 1
Insight: He was waived a little less than a week ago. Scott should see a decent workload this week if David Wilson (neck injury) can't play against the Bears.
David Wilson, RB10/6/2013 6:57:00 PM
Description: Giants starting running back David Wilson (neck) tweeted that he left Sunday's game as a precaution.
Insight: Wilson rushed for 19 yards and his first touchdown of the season Sunday against the Eagles but had to leave with a neck injury. The running back claims he'll back back in Week 6, but that might be tough since the Giants play Thursday against the Bears.
Hakeem Nicks, WR10/6/2013 5:38:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks caught nine of his 12 targets for 142 yards Sunday against the Eagles.
Insight: Despite getting shut out in Week 3 and catching three passes for 33 yards last week, Nicks is averaging 74.4 receiving yards and 4.2 receptions per game this season. However, he's yet to catch a touchdown while Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle have combined for six.
David Wilson, RB10/6/2013 3:08:00 PM
Description: Giants starting running back David Wilson will not return to Sunday's game against the Eagles due to a neck injury.
Insight: Wilson has rushed for 19 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Brandon Jacobs will likely see the majority of the snaps at running back the rest of the way.
David Wilson, RB10/6/2013 2:12:00 PM
Description: Giants starting running back David Wilson is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Eagles due to a neck injury, reports the Newark Star-Ledger.
Insight: Wilson has rushed for 19 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Brandon Jacobs would see the majority of the snaps at running back if Wilson cannot return.
David Wilson, RB10/6/2013 1:48:00 PM
Description: Giants starting running back David Wilson left the field in the second quarter for an undiclosed reason.
Insight: Wilson has rushed for 19 yards and his first touchdown of the season. We await further word.
Jon Beason, LB10/4/2013 8:56:00 PM
Description: The trade sending linebacker Jon Beason from the Panthers to the Giants is official.
Insight: Beason was traded for a late-round draft pick in 2014. The 28-year-old is a three-time Pro Bowler but he hasn't been the same in recent years after an Achilles injury and microfracture knee surgery.
Da'Rel Scott, RB10/1/2013 4:56:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Da'Rel Scott has been waived.
Insight: The Giants will go with David Wilson and aging veteran Brandon Jacobs until Andre Brown returns from injury.
Hakeem Nicks, WRCold9/29/2013 5:58:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks saw nine targets Sunday after getting shut out in Week 3, but he caught just three of them for 33 yards.
Insight: Nicks was frustrated after last week's zero-catch effort, saying he has no control over who Eli Manning throws the ball to. Manning threw it to Nicks more often on Sunday but it did not yield the desired results. Nicks has just 12 catches for 230 yards and zero touchdowns this season.
Victor Cruz, WR9/29/2013 5:50:00 PM
Description: Giants QB Eli Manning only had 217 yards Sunday against the Chiefs, but he completed 10 passes for 164 yards and his lone touchdown of the day to Victor Cruz.
Insight: Cruz has three 100-yard games over the first four contests. He should continue to post WR1 numbers since the Giants cannot run the ball and are not playing well defensively.
Henry Hynoski, FB9/23/2013 3:04:00 PM
Description: Giants fullback Henry Hynoski left Sunday's game against Carolina with a fractured and is out indefinitely.
Insight: As if the Giants didn't have enough problems in the running game and blocking for quarterback Eli Manning.
Eli Manning, QB9/22/2013 6:01:00 PM
Description: New York QB Eli Manning had a miserable game Sunday at Carolina, throwing for 119 yards and a pick on 12-of-23 passing.
Insight: Facing a secondary ravaged by injuries, Manning was expected to go wild. However, the Panthers sacked the QB seven times. Manning has a 5-8 TD-INT ratio this season.
Henry Hynoski, FB9/22/2013 1:32:00 PM
Description: Giants fullback Henry Hynoski has left the game against Carolina with a shoulder injury.
Insight: As if the Giants didn't have enough problems in the running game, add this to the list. Expect Eli Manning and company to throw more often than in the original game plan if Hynoski isn't there to be the lead blocker.
Hakeem Nicks, WR9/16/2013 10:58:00 AM
Description: New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks had an X-ray on his hand after he caught a pass awkwardly leaving him in pain.
Insight: Nicks missed much of preseason as a precaution, but has caught nine balls for 197 yards over the first two contests. He's yet to reach the end zone, however. The finger injury didn't keep him from finishing the game.
Brandon Myers, TE9/16/2013 10:54:00 AM
Description: Giants tight end Brandon Myers suffered a rib injury in Sunday's loss to Denver.
Insight: Myers will have an MRI on Monday, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. He's posted solid tight end numbers through two games with 13 receptions for 140 yards and one touchdown as the Giants No. 3 option behind Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.
David Wilson, RBCold9/16/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Giants starting running back David Wilson played just 24 of 79 plays against Denver and rushed for just 17 yards on seven attempts. At least he didn't fumble.
Insight: Part of the reason for the poor outing is that the team fell behind and he's not currently part of the passing package. But Brandon Jacobs' 1-yard run in the third quarter is a nightmare for David Wilson's fantasy owners. Apparently coach Tom Coughlin trusts his just- signed veteran running back more than young Wilson.
Da'Rel Scott, RB9/13/2013 2:59:00 PM
Description: Despite the addition of Brandon Jacobs to the Giants roster, Da'Rel Scott is still the handcuff for David Wilson.
Insight: Scott was solid in his time on the field against the Cowboys in Week 1 with five rushes for 23 yards and 5 receptions for 51 yards. It's still Wilson's job to lose, but should he continue to struggle or fumble, Scott could be of value.
Prince Amukamara, CB9/13/2013 1:10:00 PM
Description: Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara, who left Sunday's game with a concussion, returned to practice on Friday.
Insight: Facing a Broncos' team with Peyton Manning throwing to Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker and tight end Julis Thomas the Giants will need every defensive back they can get. The return of Amukamura would be a huge boost to the New York's chances of slowing Manning & Co. down.
David Wilson, RB9/12/2013 3:46:00 PM
Description: Giants coach Tom Coughlin did not go as far as naming David Wilson the starter at running back Wednesday, saying "We'll see." SOURCE: NYDailyNews.com
Insight: Coughlin also reiterated that the Giants "need" Wilson and called him "necessary." The Giants coach wants Wilson to follow the carrying technique he has been taught. "And we'll see under pressure if he can continue to do that. . . . He can do a good job of covering the ball up. He was careless and it cost us dearly. But I'm confident he's going to learn from it." Wilson is a shaky RB2 until we see what amount of trust Coughlin still has in him.
David Wilson, RB9/10/2013 5:24:00 PM
Description: Giants coach Tom Coughlin stressed that David Wilson will continue to be a factor in the offense, according to the NY Daily News. "David Wilson’s a very talented young man that we need on our football team to be productive," Coughlin said. "We’ve been down this road before. We think we can have an impact on him being a better ball-carrier."
Insight: After receiving a reduced role as a rookie due to a Week 1 fumble against the Dallas Cowboys last year, Wilson lost two fumbles in the opener Sunday night, again against the Cowboys, and was benched for the second half. While Wilson is still the Giants most talented running back by far, fantasy owners cannot trust him in Week 2 against the Broncos in what could very well be a shootout.
Prince Amukamara, CB9/9/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara left Sunday's game with a concussion. SOURCE: Ohm Youngmisuk, ESPN New York
Insight: That makes him questionable for next week's game against the Broncos. Amukamara made four tackles before exiting on Sunday.
David Wilson, RB9/9/2013 9:17:00 AM
Description: Giants running back David Wilson fumbled twice and landed in coach Tom Coughlin's doghouse ... again.
Insight: Wilson was benched for the second half and Da'Rel Scott came on to rush five times for 23 yards and catch five balls for 51 yards. In his rookie season Wilson fumbled on opening night and it took until Week 13 for him to become part of the offense again. It probably won't take as long this time, but we hope he's learned the lesson - don't fumble.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE9/8/2013 2:10:00 PM
Description: Fox's Jay Glazer expects Giants right end Jason Pierre-Paul to play Sunday against Dallas.
Insight: He missed all of New York's preseason games while recovering from back surgery. Pierre-Paul collected eight tackles and a sack in two games against the Cowboys last season.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE9/8/2013 10:25:00 AM
Description: Giants RE Jason Pierre-Paul (back) is "truly a game-time decision" for Sunday night's game at Dallas.
Insight: Pierre-Paul had back surgery three months ago and missed all of camp. The Giants D/ST is not a good fantasy play; New York has a no-name linebacking corps, Stevie Brown is out for the season and Pierre-Paul is not yet in game shape.
David Baas, C9/6/2013 3:57:00 PM
Description: The Giants offensive line will be without two starters for opening night - center David Baas and tackle David Diehl. Bass has a knee injury and Diehl a thumb injury.
Insight: Missing two starters from the line will make it tough to protect Eli Manning for the deep throws and open holes for David Wilson to run.
Victor Cruz, WR9/4/2013 5:51:00 PM
Description: According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said both Victor Cruz (heel) and Jason Pierre-Paul (back) "are full speed ahead."
Insight: Both players practiced Wednesday ahead of New York's Week 1 game against the Cowboys Sunday night. Cruz should be inserted in all fantasy lineups.
Andre Brown, RB9/3/2013 2:30:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg) has been placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list.
Insight: The injury had a 4-6 week timetable, but this extends that schedule He'll be eligible to return after missing New York's first eight games. The Giants have a bye in Week 9 meaning he could first return for Week 10.
Victor Cruz, WR9/2/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz was back at practice on Monday. He missed time with a bruised heel. SOURCE: Dan Graziano, ESPN
Insight: It was Cruz's first practice in two weeks. He should be a go for Sunday's season opener against Dallas.
Andre Brown, RB8/30/2013 11:50:00 AM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown, who broke his leg Thursday in an exhibition game against New England, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, according to a ProFootballTalk report.
Insight: Obviously, the injury will help starter David Wilson, who will see a much bigger workload, but apparently it won't be a season-long change, just the half.
David Wilson, RB8/30/2013 9:42:00 AM
Description: Giants running back David Wilson, already named the starting running back, will get a boost in workload after the injury to teammate Andre Brown (broken leg).
Insight: We believed Wilson and Brown were going to get nearly an even split in work, but with the only other current options being Da'Rel Scott, Ryan Torain and Michael Cox, Wilson figures to take on a huge workload and be a high-value fantasy option.
Andre Brown, RB8/29/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Giants halfback Andre Brown broke his leg Thursday in an exhibition game against New England. SOURCE: Ohm Youngmisuk, ESPN New York
Insight: Brown could wind up missing most of the season. In all likelihood, Brown only cost fantasy owners a late round flier so it's not the end of the world. He would have been a nice handcuff for David Wilson and a candidate for goal line carries but that's about it. Mostly, the injury helps Wilson, who may have just risen to RB2 status.
Victor Cruz, WR8/27/2013 8:21:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Victor Cruz (heel) said his goal is to return to practice Monday, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
Insight: "Absolutely. That's definitely a date that, a target date for me," said Cruz. "I want to come out get some days of practice in as well, once the doctors let me and the training staff lets me do so. We're just taking it one day at a time." Cruz also says he plans to play Week 1 against the Cowboys.
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE8/26/2013 5:48:00 PM
Description: New York right end Jason Pierre-Paul has been activated from the active/PUP list.
Insight: He missed most of training camp while recovering from offseason back surgery. There's a good chance Pierre-Paul plays Week 1 against the Cowboys.
Victor Cruz, WR8/26/2013 2:20:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz is out of the walking boot as he progresses from his heel injury.
Insight: Barring a setback, Cruz is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Cowboys.
Stevie Brown, S8/25/2013 3:56:00 PM
Description: Giants safety Stevie Brown is done for the season with a torn left ACL, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
Insight: Brown suffered the injury without contact during Saturday's preseason game. He had eight picks, 76 tackles, two forced fumbles and 11 passes deflected last season and is a major loss for New York's defense.
David Wilson, RB8/23/2013 2:15:00 PM
Description: Giants GM Jerry Reese stated in a Friday radio interview that David Wilson was the starting running back, but noted that Andre Brown would have a significant role.
Insight: We never believed that Wilson would be a workhorse back and have gone under the assumption that the distribution of work would be close to 50-50 no matter who was names the official starter.
Victor Cruz, WR8/20/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz was seen with crutches and a walking boot, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Cruz suffered a bruised heel on Sunday and is not expected to play in the final preseason games, but is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Cowboys. No need to panic ... yet.
Victor Cruz, WR8/19/2013 9:09:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Victor Cruz won't play again this preseason. SOURCE: Art Stapleton, The Record
Insight: Cruz suffered a bruised heel on Sunday. He's in no danger of missing Week 1 against the Cowboys.
Victor Cruz, WR8/18/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Giants WR Victor Cruz was diagnosed with a bruised heel after leaving Sunday's preseason game.
Insight: Cruz's X-rays came back negative. The receiver will probably be day-to-day going into the third preseason game.
Hakeem Nicks, WR8/16/2013 4:57:00 PM
Description: New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) will play in the team's second preseason game Sunday against the Colts. Nicks suffered a groin injury early in training camp and missed the first preseason game.
Insight: The receiver missed three preseason games last year due to a broken foot and then dealt with a knee injury for most of the year. He had just 692 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. Nicks has WR1 upside but is better drafted as a WR2.
Ramses Barden, WR8/13/2013 1:25:00 PM
Description: Wideout Ramses Barden has been placed on injured reserve by the New York Giants.
Insight: At 6-foot-6, 224 lbs Barden was supposed to develop into a big-time threat, but lacked the speed to get away from NFL defenders. Rueben Randle and Louis Murphy will back up Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz.
Hakeem Nicks, WR8/10/2013 2:42:00 PM
Description: New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) will not play in Saturday's first exhibition game.
Insight: Nicks has played sparingly in OTAs and training camp, but is expected to be ready when the season opens. He's entering a contract year, so expect his best after battling injuries all last season and posting a well-below-expectation 53 receptions for 692 yards and three scores. Still, we would like to see him running around the field before spending a high draft choice for him (fantasyfootballcalculator.com ADP 50).
Brandon Myers, TE8/7/2013 9:58:00 PM
Description: Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger says Giants tight end Brandon Myers "seems to be the perfect fit for Eli Manning."
Insight: The two have been connecting on some long passes and have developed chemistry in goal-line drills already. Myers will likely experience a dropoff from his production last year with the Raiders when he caught 79 passes for 806 yards and four touchdowns, but he could exceed the numbers posted by Martellus Bennett in 2012. Bennett had 55 catches for 626 yards and five scores with the Giants before signing with the Bears this offseason.
Hakeem Nicks, WR8/6/2013 11:08:00 AM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) says he's ready to go and will practice on Tuesday, according to new York Daily news reporter Ralph Vacchiano.
Insight: Nicks has played sparingly in OTAs and training camp, but is expected to be ready when the season opens. He's entering a contract year, so expect his best after battling injuries all last season and posting a well-below-expectation 53 receptions for 692 yards and three scores.
Hakeem Nicks, WR8/1/2013 9:40:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) sat out practice Thursday, the first full practice he has missed so far in training camp, according to ESPNNY.com.
Insight: Nicks injured his groin Sunday and practiced in a limited capacity the next two days before the team had a day off Wednesday. "It's a day-to-day type thing," coach Tom Coughlin said. The injury is not serious, but it isn't encouraging for a player with a checkered injury history.
David Wilson, RB8/1/2013 6:21:00 PM
Description: According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the Giants' first unofficial depth chart lists both David Wilson and Andre Brown as the starting running backs.
Insight: We're not sold that the team is ready to hand over the reigns to Wilson and expect Brown to be heavily involved, especially in the red zone. Wilson's 3.09 ADP on fantasyfootballcalculator.com is too high. Brown (7.09 ADP) has serious 10-touchdown potential.
Hakeem Nicks, WR7/28/2013 9:04:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks is already injured. He's missed time with groin tightness this week, according to ESPN New York.
Insight: The injury isn't serious, but it isn't an encouraging sign for a player who has a history of getting banged up. Nicks has missed nine games in his four-year career and was plagued by a knee injury for most of last season that limited his production even when he was on the field.
Rueben Randle, WR7/24/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: Early indications are that wide receiver Rueben Randle has grabbed the upper hand as the Giants No.3 receiver, according to a New York Daily News report.
Insight: Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride has been praising his work. Given the injury-prone status to Hakeem Nicks over the past two seasons, the No. 3 spot could have significant fantasy value. Randle is battling with Ramses Barden abd Louis Murphy for the role.
Will Hill, S7/20/2013 5:16:00 PM
Description: Giants safety Will Hill has been suspended for the first four games of the season.
Insight: He violated the league's substance abuse policy. Hill logged 38 tackles and two forced fumbles as a rookie last season.
David Wilson, RB7/11/2013 9:51:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN New York, Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said running back David Wilson has shown "significant" improvement from last season, but added that the second-year back "is still not 100 percent" where the team wants him to be.
Insight: "He still makes mistakes but there has certainly been some significant [growth]," Gilbride added. "Now until you get the pads on -- and he has to show that he, as a smaller guy, can do the things necessary that other small backs in this league have done -- you are still kind of holding your breath when you see him." As a 2012 first-round pick, Wilson has the inside edge to the starting job, but we think Andre Brown will get his fair share of carries, especially around the goal line.
Victor Cruz, WR7/8/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Fox's Jay Glazer is reporting that the Giants and Victor Cruz have agreed to a six-year deal that should leave the receiver smiling from ear to ear.
Insight: The deal is worth $45.879 million with $15.6 million in guaranteed money. A happy Cruz and a healthy Hakeem Nicks would make both Eli Manning and fantasy owners very excited about the possibilities. If all three are playing well, Manning is capable of 4,800 passing yards and the receivers could both reach 1,200 yards
Victor Cruz, WR7/2/2013 1:37:00 PM
Description: Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Giants and Cruz have the basic terms of a deal in place.
Insight: A happy Cruz and a healthy Hakeem Nicks would make both Eli Manning and fantasy owners very happy. If all three are playing well, Manning is capable of 4,800 passing yards and the receivers are each 1,200 yard guys.
David Wilson, RB6/18/2013 1:16:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN New York, Giants running backs coach Jerald Ingram said David Wilson has improved with his pass protection, but he wants to see how Wilson does in full pads once training camp starts.
Insight: Ahmad Bradshaw is gone, so Wilson and Andre Brown will be competing in camp for the starting job. As a 2012 first-round pick, Wilson has the inside edge, but Brown rushed for 5.3 yards per carry and eight touchdowns last season and certainly has a shot if Wilson's fumbling or pass protection issues return.
Victor Cruz, WR6/14/2013 8:29:00 PM
Description: The Victor Cruz saga is over ... for now. The wide receiver reluctantly accepted his one-year, $2.879 million restricted free agent tender on Friday. SOURCE: NBC Sports
Insight: Cruz might still hold out, though he'd lose a year toward unrestricted free agency if he doesn't report to camp by August 6th. Right now, the Giants have all the leverage in contract negotiations.
Hakeem Nicks, WR6/12/2013 6:30:00 PM
Description: Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks has resumed practicing, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Nicks reported to Giants minicamp Tuesday to avoid being fined, and confirmed that he won't stage a holdout. Nicks skipped all of New York's voluntary OTAs.
Hakeem Nicks, WR6/10/2013 8:48:00 PM
Description: Hakeem Nicks was nowhere to be found Monday at Giants mini-camp. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Nicks is playing a dangerous game right now. If he doesn't report to camp tomorrow he could be facing a hefty fine. No reason was given for why Nicks wasn't in attendance but we're guessing it has something to do with the new contract extension he's been hoping for.
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB6/6/2013 12:39:00 PM
Description: Free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw is working out with the Colts on Thursday. SOURCE: NBC Sports
Insight: Bradshaw has rushed for at least 1,000 yards twice in the last three seasons. The Colts had one of the league's weakest rushing attacks in 2012 so adding Bradshaw to the fold would make plenty of sense. We'll see how his workout goes.
Victor Cruz, WR6/5/2013 10:58:00 PM
Description: According to the New York Daily News, both the Giants and Victor Cruz's camp remain optimistic that a deal will be reached.
Insight: The News said that "it's a pretty good bet" that the two sides will agree before June 17, when the Giants can reduce Cruz's tender offer from $2.879 million to $630,000.
Victor Cruz, WR5/31/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: The Giants have reached a stalemate in contract talks with wide receiver Victor Cruz. SOURCE: Ed Werder, ESPN
Insight: Hopefully the two sides can work something out quickly so that Cruz doesn't have to miss training camp. Cruz has hauled in 19 touchdown catches over the last two seasons.
Rueben Randle, WR5/31/2013 1:55:00 PM
Description: The battle for the No. 3 receiving spot with the Giants could have fantasy significance.
Insight: Rueben Randle, Ramses Barden or Louis Murphy could end up with significant fantasy value if Nicks can't play (he's never played a full 16-game schedule) or the Giants and Victor Cruz can't come to an agreement that keeps him on the field.
Hakeem Nicks, WR5/22/2013 1:39:00 PM
Description: New York wideout Hakeem Nicks, who had a knee scope earlier this offseason, told Ralph Vacchiano he's "feeling as good as I've felt in awhile."
Insight: That's great news for Nicks' fantasy owners and Eli Manning owners too. A healthy Nicks is a top-10 fantasy receiver. Now if the Giants can just get the Victor Cruz situation under control they can have one of the league's best passing offenses.
Ryan Nassib, QB4/27/2013 5:59:00 PM
Description: Once thought to be a first-round pick, Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib wasn't taken until the fourth round of this weekend's NFL Draft. The Giants drafted him 110th overall.
Insight: In a stunning move, Nassib's college coach Doug Marrone (now the head coach of the Bills) passed on Nassib and took Florida State's E.J. Manuel with the 16th pick of the first round. Nassib was the fifth quarterback selected. He'll back up Eli Manning and shouldn't have any fantasy value unless the two-time Super Bowl MVP gets injured.
Victor Cruz, WR4/24/2013 2:11:00 PM
Description: Giants restricted free agent receiver Victor Cruz was reportedly given a new offer from the team which according to a New York Daily News report is for around $7 million a year.
Insight: Cruz wants to be paid like a No. 1 receiver and looking at what Dwayne Bowe received in the offseason, Cruz hasn't gotten that level of offer. Although we expect that the two sides will eventually work out an agreement it might take Cruz sitting for a while. Don't let that change your value of Cruz, who has caught 168 balls for 2,628 yards and 19 TDs over the past two seasons.
