Description: The Titans continue to indicate that they will go with quarterback Zach Mettenberger as their starter in 2015, according to a Nashville Tennessean report.
Insight: They could have whichever rookie Tampa Bay doesn't select, likely Marcus Mariota, but it appears they are happy with Mettenberger. The Titans have added Harry Douglas to their wide receiver corps, but Mettenberg still doesn't figure to be worthy of fantasy starter status.
Description: Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was 24-of-35 for 287 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against Jacksonville.
Insight: Whitehurst still can't throw the deep ball, but played well. Of course, "Charlie Checkdown's" leading receiver was running back Leon Washington with seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright is active on Thursday against Jacksonville.
Insight: Wright did not play last week due to a hand injury. Delanie Walker is also active, so this limits Nate Washington's value a little bit. Wright is the better play, but he isn't much better than a WR4.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker (dislocated shoulder) was placed on injured reserve.
Insight: His season is over, and Locker will be a free agent during the offseason. He will likely sign a deal to compete for a backup job. If Zach Mettenberger is healthy, he will likely start. If not, Charlie Whitehurst will get the nod. Jordan Palmer was signed to take Locker's roster spot.
Description: Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger is likely done for the season after suffering a separated AC joint.
Insight: Jake Locker will be the de facto starter for the final three games and a trip into the world of free agency after the season. The Titans will need to draft a quarterback very early next spring.
Description: Titans receiver Justin Hunter (lacerated spleen) has been placed on injured reserve ending his season.
Insight: We were expecting big things from Hunter, but they never materialized. He'll finish his second season with 28 receptions for 498 yards and three scores, but posted double-digit fantasy points just twice in 12 games.
Description: Titans receiver Nate Washington had five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.
Insight: It should be noted Washington's touchdown came from Jake Locker, who replaced the injured Zach Mettenberger. However, Mettenberger will return to quarterback next week as long as he is healthy.
Description: Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger expects to play in Week 14 even though he suffered a Grade 1 AC joint sprain according to The Tennessean.
Insight: Before Mettenberger left, he was 13-of-19 with a touchdown and pick. As long as he is healthy, there is no way Ken Whisenhunt turns back to Jake Locker, who threw two more interceptions after Mettenberger left.
Description: Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger left Sunday's game against the Texans in the third quarter.
Insight: The CBS telecast showned Mettenberger favoring his right arm with either a hand or shoulder injury. Check back for more details. Meanwhile, Jake Locker has checked in and promptly threw an interception.
Description: Titans receiver Justin Hunter scored a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia.
Insight: He had four receptions for 64 yards on 10 targets. Kendall Wright was unimpressive on the other side, going for one catch and 28 yards, while Nate Washington had four receptions for 63 yards. There is too much inconsistency among Titans' wideouts.
Description: With teammate Delanie Walker sidelined, Chase Coffman took over as the TE weapon against Pittsburgh Monday night.
Insight: Coffman caught three of four targets for 32 yards and a touchdown. The TD catch was impressive going above the defenders to haul in the score. He's not normally thought of as a receiver, but he did come up big Monday night.
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey ran well on the first drive, but doesn't see enough work to be fantasy worthy.
Insight: The Titans run Dexter McCluster and Shonn Greene in and out of the lineup too often. Sankey ended up with aa carries and one reception for a combined 45 yards and a touchdown. Until he sees more work, he has limited upside.
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene was arrested on Friday night in Franklin, Tennessee according to the Nashville Tennessean.
Insight: Greene was parked in a handicap spot in Franklin. While a parking enforcement officer was writing a ticket for Greene, the running back decided it would be a great idea to flee the scene. Greene eventually turned himself in after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was charged with handicap parking violation, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and resisting stop/halt/frisk. He is out on bail, but his status for Sunday is unknown. Fantasy owners should drop him just for his stupidity.
Description: The Titans will start sixth-round rookie Zach Mettenberger at quarterback coach Ken Whisenhunt said Thursday.
Insight: Jake Locker is in a contract year and is too injury prone to commit to long-term. Charlie Whitehurst is not the answer at quarterback either. Everyone should jump on the Houston Texans defernse, particularly if Jadeveon Clowney returns.
Description: The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans will start sixth-round rookie Zach Mettenberger at quarterback against the Texans in Week 8.
Insight: Coach Ken Whisenhunt has officially given up on the season. Jake Locker is in a contract year, and he is too injury prone to commit to long-term. Charlie Whitehurst is not the answer at quarterback either. So Whisenhunt is getting a look at the rookie from LSU.
Description: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports teams have been calling the Titans about Nate Washington.
Insight: This likely just means the Titans would like to trade their wide receiver. Justin Hunter is the team's new No. 2 WR, and Washington is taking up cap and roster space. It is unlikely that Tennessee gets anyone to bite on his 4.8 million base salary since he can't even earn a starting role on the Titans.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker (thumb) got in a limited practice during Wednesday's session.
Insight: Coach Ken Whisenhunt expects Locker to return for Week 8, but that will depend on the amount of reps he is able to handle the rest of the week. We should have more clarity on his status after Thursday's practice.
Description: The Titans have signed running back Antonio Andrews from their practice squad.
Insight: He'll be behind both Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene so has little fantasy value. The move could have been made to protect him from getting signed by another team with multiple running back injuries.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker had a disappointing game against the Redskins.
Insight: Walker had two catches for 17 yards. Unfortunately, the magic Walker had at the beginning of the season seems to have faded. Walker also seems more productive when Jake Locker is under center.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins in Week 7.
Insight: Wright has frustrated fantasy owners this season, but if owners have remained patient with him, he put up a solid fantasy day in Week 7. With this performance, Wright, at the very least, has kept his bench spot on your roster.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker had a disappointing game against the Jaguars.
Insight: Walker still caught three passes for 57 yards, but against arguably the worst defense in the league, Walker had one of his worst statistical days so far in 2014. He seems to be more productive with Jake Locker while Charlie Whitehurst favors Justin Hunter.
Description: Titans receiver Justin Hunter led the team with 77 receiving yards in Week 6 against the Jaguars.
Insight: Hunter seems to have some chemistry with backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst. The pair hit a big touchdown against the Browns in Week 5 and Hunter led the Titans in Week 6. Hunter is a viable WR3 in deep leagues with Whitehurst at quarterback.
Description: Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey should lead the team in carries with Shonn Green out with a hamstring injury.
Insight: Where have we heard this before? Even with Greene in the lineup, coach Ken Whisenhunt has said Sankey will be more involved but that hasn't happened yet. Tennessee might be forced to go to Sankey, though, with no Greene, and the Jaguars are a favorable matchup.
Description: Titans receiver Kendall Wright finally displayed what fantasy owners were hoping from him all year as he caught two touchdowns in Week 5 against the Browns.
Insight: Wright finished with six catches for 47 yards in his biggest fantasy day of 2014. The Titans also used Wright in the rushing game, giving him two carries, one of which he took for 38 yards. But with the uncertainty at quarterback, it will still be tough to start Wright with confidence.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker left Sunday's game against the Browns holding his throwing arm.
Insight: Browns cornerback Joe Haden hit Locker in the helmet on third down at about the 30-yard line. He, however, did not return to the game after the pass interference call. The injury is apparently to Locker's right hand.
Description: Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Bishop Sankey will likely get more carries in Week 5 against the Browns according to The Tennessean.
Insight: Whisenhunt also added that Sankey will see action earlier in the game. Sankey has actually led the Titans running backs in snaps the past two weeks, but most of those snaps have come in the second half of games with the Titans well behind on the scoreboard. Sankey has 127 yards and one touchdown on 19 touches the last two weeks.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker (wrist) will not play on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter,
Insight: He looked unlikely to play all week, after suffering the wrist injury late in Week 3. "Checkdown" Charlie Whitehurst gets the start against Indianapolis. Expect Tennessee to use a lot of Shonn Greene and Bishop Sankey.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker (wrist) did not practice on Thursday according to The Tennessean.
Insight: It was also reported that Locker did do a "bit more" at practice, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt did say he is concerned about Locker suffering a setback if he plays against the Colts. Whisenhunt said he will likely determine Locker's status on Sunday, but with everything Whisenhunt has said this week, we do not expect Locker to play. Whisenhunt likely wants to give another quarterback a shot after Locker's poor first three weeks.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker has no structural damage to his wrist, but is still officially questionable for Week 4 according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.
Insight: Doctors have diagnosed Locker with a wrist strain. Based on how he has played the last two weeks against the Cowboys and Bengals, hopefully Locker is not a quarterback owners are relying on starting in Week 4.
Description: Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Bishop Sankey's carries won't increase until he improves his footwork.
Insight: Sankey rushed for 61 yards on ten carries and was really the only quality fantasy player from Tennessee on Sunday. Whisenhunt, however, still wants him to improve his footwork before he sees the field for longer periods of time. The 54th overall pick from May's draft has 89 yards on 18 carries in three games as he is rotating with Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster in the backfield.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker suffered an injury to his throwing wrist in Week 3, and the Titans are unsure if he will play in Week 4 according to ESPN.
Insight: Perhaps that's why Locker was so bad against the Bengals on Sunday. Locker's wrist was apparently bent awkwardly in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. There is already speculation that head coach Ken Whisenhunt will use this injury as an excuse to start another quarterback next week. Charlie Whitehurst and rookie Zach Mettenberger are Locker's backups.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker leads Titans in receiving once again.
Insight: He did not have as big of a game as he did a week ago, but Walker still managed four catches for 54 yards, on seven targets. He outshined his receiving counterparts, Kendall Wright (5 catches for 44 yards) and Justin Hunter (3 catches for 37 yards). Walker is a borderline TE1 as we head into Week 4.
Description: Titans running back Bishop Sankey outshines Shonn Greene Sunday.
Insight: Both backs received 10 carries, but Sankey was far more productive with his 61 yards, compared to Greene's 33. Greene did manage a garbage time, one-yard touchdown. However, we could be seeing the start of the Bishop Sankey show right before our very eyes.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker has afternoon to forget against Cincinnati.
Insight: He was 17-of-34 for only 185 yards and two interceptions. Tennessee did not lose just because of Locker's poor play, however he did not help the team's cause. After a stellar Week 1 performance, Locker has been way too inconsistent. He is a QB2 moving forward.
Description: Like most of the Titans' players, Hunter was a nowhere to be found against the Cowboys during Week 2.
Insight: Hunter has a ton of physical ability, but the fact he is on a team like Tennessee, inconsistent play is be expected. He had two catches for 26 yards on Sunday, and will look to rebound in Week 3 when the Titans travel to Cincy.
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene was unable to build on a strong start to the season, against Dallas.
Insight: After registering 71 rushing yards in Week 1, Greene only managed five carries for 40 yards in Week 2. He is still the lead back in Tennessee, however owners should continue to expect inconsistent play. Greene is no more than a flex/RB3 option moving forward.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker could not build off his performance from Week 1.
Insight: Locker has been inconsistent throughout his career, and that trend continued against the Cowboys. He was 18/34 for 234 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. It does not get any easier as Tennessee travels to Cincinnati for Week 3. Consider Locker a QB2 on Sunday.
Description: Titans RB/WR Dexter McCluster is questionable for Sunday's game against Cincinnati de to a foot injury.
Insight: According to a report in The Tennessean, McCluster was seen leaving the locker room in a walking boot. McCluster doesn't have much fantasy value at this time with Shonn Greene and Bishop Sankey in front of him on the depth charts.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker owners hit the jackpot with a 10-catch, 142-yard, one score game.
Insight: Walker also scored in Week 1 and is quickly becoming a huge tight end threat. The Cowboys have now yielded 14 receptions for 186 yards and three scores to opposing starting tight ends. Remember that when the Rams' Jared Cook plays Dallas next weekend.
Description: Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey was nowhere to be found in Week 2 against Dallas.
Insight: Sankey rushed the ball just two times for three yards. The Titans only tried running the ball 11 times including twice by quarterback Jake Locker. Shonn Green appears to be the only back option in Tennessee.
Description: ESPN Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky expects rookie running back Bishop Sankey to "gradually grow" into a more important role on offense.
Insight: Sankey is further down the depth chart than we initially thought. Shonn Greene and Dexter McCluster had 15 and nine carries, respectively. Sankey had six carries for 25 yards. Even Leon Washington was invovled and only had two fewer touches than Sankey did. The rookie is worth having on your bench because he will continue to get more reps but do not put him in your fantasy lineup this week.
Description: Titans receiver Justin Hunter was a full participant in Friday's practice with a knee injury, according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.
Insight: It wasn't thought to be serious and this should solidify his status as active for Week 2. Hunter is the Titans' receiver who scares defenses the most. he caught three balls for 63 yards in the opener.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker told the Nashville Tennessean that he feels more comfortable against the blitz than he has in the past.
Insight: Locker has been inaccurate against defensive pressure in the past, but that was not the case versus the Chiefs on Sunday. Kansas City did sack Locker four times, but he completed 22-of-33 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns. If you need a quarterback this week, Locker has a great matchup against the Cowboys.
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene ran the ball six times for 15 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Falcons.
Insight: Given the size of the Tennessee offensive line and a below average Atlanta front seven, its disappointing Greene did not have a much better showing. He remains the starter for now, but we doubt he will remain in front of rookie Bishop Sankey.
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker was 12-of-17 for 188 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Falcons.
Insight: Locker also did not throw any interceptions. The touchdown pass was a 63-yard bomb to receiver Nate Washington. Through three preseason games, Locker is 21-of-30 with two touchdowns and no picks. If he remains healthy, Locker is a quality QB2.
Description: The Tennessean called Titans receiver Justin Hunter "all but unstoppable" anywhere near the goal line. Hunter caught four balls for 111 yards and two touchdowns in last week's preseason game.
Insight: Hunter has a knack for catching the ball in the corner of the end zone on the fade pattern according to The Tennessean. Adding to his ball skills, Hunter is 6'4" and jumped a remarkable 39.5 inch vertical leap in the NFL Combine. He could prove to be one of Jake Locker's favorite red zone targets this season and thus a sleeper on draft day.
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene (knee) practiced Monday, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. He hyperextended his right knee, which he had arthroscopic surgery on twice in the last 12 months, in Friday's preseason game.
Insight: Greene is currently atop Tennessee's depth chart, but with Dexter McCluster playing on third downs and rookie Bishop Sankey in the fold, this could be a committee early in the season.
Description: Titans rookie running back Bishop Sankey did some good things and some bad things this week ... as rookies are prone to do.
Insight: Sankey rushed six times for 31 yards (5.1 ypc), but also fumbled on his final carry while driving for extra yards. With Shonn Greene struggling to to knee issues, Sankey could be in line for big playing time, if he can straighten out the issues - primarily blocking for his QB and fumbling.
Description: Titans receiver Justin Hunter had four catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's preseason game.
Insight: Hunter made a lot of mental mistakes and appeared passive at times on the field during his rookie year, but his physical gifts are undeniable. He's 6-foot-4, 203 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the combine. He's a high-upside target in the 12th round of fantasy drafts.
Description: According to the Tennessean, not a practice goes by without Justin Hunter making some highlight-reel catches.
Insight: Hunter hasn't been without fault during camp. Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt reportedly called out Hunter in a team meeting for a mistake during Saturday's preseason opener on Monday and WRs coach Shawn Jefferson made him wear a "JAG" (Just Another Guy) nameplate at practice. Hunter made a lot of mental mistakes and appeared passive at times on the field during his rookie year, but his physical gifts are undeniable. He's 6-foot-4, 203 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the combine. He's a nice flyer in the 12th round of fantasy drafts.
Description: Titans running back Shonn Greene started the preseason opener Saturday against the Packers and had four carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Dexter McCluster played on third downs and ran with the second-team ahead of rookie Bishop Sankey. Sankey is going to have to earn a larger role in the offense and could be in a committee to start the season.
Description: According to the Tennessean, the Titans plan on using a running back by committee this season.
Insight: We're guessing they'll move away from that quickly once they see the difference between Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene. Dexter McCluster will be involved, but more as a pass-catcher in the role Danny Woodhead occupied last season for the Chargers under new Tennessee coach Ken Whisenhunt. Woodhead had 182 touches, but there were still 311 touches left for Ryan Mathews. Sankey will likely lead the backfield in touches, but with Greene looming as a touchdown vulture a 39.3 ADP is a little high for the rookie.
Description: Tennessee running back Jackie Battle should have zero fantasy value this season as he's been moved to fullback, according to Jim Eyatt of The Tennessean.
Insight: Battle was a viable handcuff candidate in previous stops with Kansas City and San Diego, but isn't likely to touch the football much in 2014. The Titans have three running backs in Bishop Sankey, Shonn Greene and multi-position Dexter McCluster for that role.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker said he's "looking to catch 80 balls this year." SOURCE: titansonline.com
Insight: In his first season with the Titans, Walker caught 60 passes for 571 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games, so him catching 80 catches isn't as much of a stretch as it seems. New Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt worked with Antonio Gates in San Diego last year and compared Walker to Gates in January. Walker is going undrafted in 12-team mocks on fantasyfootballcalculator.com, but he could be a low-end TE1.
Description: Tennessee halfback Shonn Greene is coming off right knee surgery and will miss all of OTAs. SOURCE: Jim Wyatt, Nashville Tennessean
Insight: That gives rookie Bishop Sankey a head start over Greene as the two try to learn Ken Whisenhunt's new offense. With Chris Johnson now in New York, the Titans' backfield is up for grabs. For what it's worth, Greene rushed 77 times for 295 yards and four touchdowns during the 2013 campaign.
Description: The Titans made Bishop Sankey the first running back off the board in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Insight: Sankey went 54th overall, the latest the draft's first running back has ever been taken. Tennessee was in the market for a running back after releasing Chris Johnson. The 5-9, 209-pound Sankey has a good chance to start from Day 1 ahead of Shonn Greene.
Description: The Titans won't pick up Jake Locker's option for 2015. SOURCE: Nashville Tennessean
Insight: That means he'll be a free agent after next season. Locker doesn't have Ryan Fitzpatrick breathing down his neck anymore but the team could still draft a quarterback to compete with him in training camp.
