Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones has been cleared for OTAs, according to a bengals.com report.
Insight: Jones caught 51 balls for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013 and made the Bengals passing game much more explosive with him playing opposition A.J. Green. If he's back and healthy, fantasy owners shouldn't forget how good he was two seasons ago.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton still could not earn his first playoff win.
Insight: Dalton went 18-of-35 for 155 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions, and a fumble lost. He also rushed for 34 yards. Dalton will enter next season as more of a QB2 after accumulating 19 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 2014.
Description: Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham will miss Sunday's playoff game, according to Kimberly Jones of the NFL Network.
Insight: Gresham had scored in each of the last three games and was more valuable with A.J. green on the sidelines. Now he'll join him making Kevin Brock the starter and Mohamed Sanu even more valuable.
Description: Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu had just one catch for 16 yards against Denver.
Insight: With A.J. Green hurting, you would have thought the team would turn to Sanu, but instead they targeted Jermaine Gresham and Giovani Bernard. Sanu has been silent for much of the second half of 2014.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill put the Bengals on his back and carries them to a key victory Monday night.
Insight: Hill led Cincinnati with 22 carries and 147 yards and a touchdown, including an 85-yard run to get them going. If not for Odell Beckham Jr., Hill would be the 2014 NFL Rookie of the Year. Hill has 395 yards rushing and three scores over the past two weekends.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green hurt his shoulder on a pick-six in the first quarter of Monday night's game against the Broncos. UPDATE: Green returned after missing eight plays.
Insight: The Andy Dalton throw was high, which exposed Green to a big hit. Green has not returned yet, but he is listed as questionable, and it appears he will come back into the game. Owners really need him back into the game for the last game of championship week.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was fantasy relevant in garbage time in Week 15.
Insight: Bernard had 79 yards on 15 carries and gained 24 more yards on three catches, but nearly all of that came in the second half with Cincinnati ahead by more than 20. Owners shouldn't count on Bernard repeating that performance versus the tough Broncos next week.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill has seized his opportunity to be the Bengals starter.
Insight: Hill led Cincinnati with 25 carries and 148 yards with two touchdowns on Sunday. The Bengals ripped apart the Browns run defense for 244 yards on the ground. Hill is a low-end RB1 moving forward.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton did not have a great statistical game, but Cincinnati still won, 30-0.
Insight: Dalton was 14-of-24 for 117 yards and threw a pick. Cincinnati was dominate in the running game as they rushed for 224 yards as a team. This looks to be the Bengals philosophy moving forward, so Dalton's fantasy value is limited.
Description: Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson expressed the feeling he would like to move more towards having one featured back rather than split them between Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard.
Insight: That likely means good things for Hill and bad news for Bernard. Bernard owners could see the writing on the wall the past couple weeks though. He has averaged a meager 3.18 yards per attempt since returning from his hip injury while Hill ran for over 150 yards in a game twice while Bernard was hurt. Bernard should not be in many lineups this weekend for the fantasy playoffs.
Description: Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict (left knee scoped) will miss Week 14.
Insight: It takes most players about four weeks to come back from a scope and we are at the five- week mark, so the injury must have been more serious than anyone expected. Vincent Rey will continue to start.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard (hip) was a full participant in Thursday's practice and should be ready to go Sunday.
Insight: It is unclear how the distribution of the workload will go considering how well backup Jeremy Hill played in Bernard's absence. We think it's likely Hill get the majority of the rushing attempts and Bernanrd is the receiving back.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill rushed for over 100 yards again.
Insight: Hill gained 152 yards on 27 carries against the Saints. In his three starts, Hill has rushed for over 150 yards in two of them. Hill is a fantasy starter until Giovani Bernard returns and perhaps even when he does return.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had a big bounceback game on Sunday.
Insight: Dalton was 16-for-22 with 220 yards and three touchdown passes as Cincinnati defeat New Orleans, 27-10, in the Super Dome. Dalton remains a decent QB1 as long as he isn't playing in primetime.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard did not practice on Wednesday according to ESPN.
Insight: It appears Jeremy Hill is again in line for the majority of the carries in Week 11. Hill should bounce back from his horrific game against the Browns last week. Bernard will be updated again on Thursday.
Description: NFL Network's Albert Breer reports the Bengals are "not expecting" Giovani Bernard to play against the Saints this Sunday.
Insight: Breer reported last week that Bernard may be out through Week 11 and even longer. It sounds like it will be Jeremy Hill's backfield for the immediate future. Fantasy owners with Bernard might have to look elsewhere for running back help, not just in Week 11, but for the entire fantasy playoff push.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was horrible in the game against Cleveland.
Insight: There is no other way to describe a 10-of-33 for 86 yards and three interception night. This season has been a disaster for Dalton who threw for 268.5 ypg and 33 TDs last season, but is averaging just 217.8 ypg in 2014 with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Description: As expected, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Browns.
Insight: That isn't new, but the now Bernard might not even return in Week 11 after the extra rest. Jeremy Hill gets another opportunity to prove he deserves more playing time even when Bernard returns.
Description: Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has said that running back Giovani Bernard will not play Thursday against Cleveland.
Insight: The short prep week for a Thursday night game killed his chances to return. Rookie Jeremy Hill rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Bernard's absence last Sunday and fantasy owners should expect the rookie to be a workhorse again in Week 10.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard is doubtful for Thursday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: The short prep week for a Thursday night game isn't helping. Rookie Jeremy Hill rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Bernard's absence and fantasy owners should expect the rookie to be a workhorse again in Week 10.
Description: Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham caught five passes for 36 yards against the Jaguars.
Insight: Gresham received six targets, which actually tied A.J. Green with the second most on the team. His value is still limited, however, as Gresham is not a deep threat and doesn't receive many looks in the red zone.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green caught a touchdown in his return to the field in Week 9.
Insight: Green had three receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. He received six targets and played a majority of the snaps. As long as he didn't suffer a setback, Green will be a WR1 even against Joe Haden and the Browns on Thursday.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill had an outstanding first start in the NFL.
Insight: Hill actually left the game with an injury but returned and rushed for 154 yards on 24 carries. He also scored twice, including a 60-yard touchdown run to seal the victory. Hill is exactly what fans hoped for on draft day: a great handcuff to Giovania Bernard who will get his fair share of chances and when he does, he will produce.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton had an up-and-down game against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Insight: Dalton was a smart play at home against the Jaguars, but he did a very poor job of taking care of the ball. He threw two interceptions and nearly had one or two other turnovers. He also completed some nice deep passes to Mohamed Sanu and A.J. Green for touchdowns. Dalton is a decent play in an emergence, but it would be best to find another quarterback for consistent production.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill could be in for a full workload with starter Giovani Bernard not likely to play in Week 9.
Insight: Hill rushed 10 times for 25 yards and caught four for 28 yards against Indianapolis, but his touches could be ramped up with Bernard doubtful. If he sees 20-plus touches he could become a viable fantasy option.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green (toe) indicated that he is still unsure about his status for Week 9.
Insight: While he practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, Green admitted that he does not want to make the toe injury any worse. As a result, it is looking likely that he will come down to a game-time decision on Sunday.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green practiced on Wednesday according to ESPN Bengals reporter Coley Harvey.
Insight: We don't normally care that much if a player practices or not on Wednesday, but this was Green's first Wednesday practice in about a month. He is going to try and play against the Jaguars on Sunday. If he does, we do not expect his snaps to be limited.
Description: Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict had his left knee scoped on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least two games according to ESPN.
Insight: It seems highly unlikely, however, that Burfict will recover in two weeks time. It takes most players about four weeks to come back from a scope. 2014 has been an injury-plagued season for Burfict as he has missed time with concussions, a neck injury, and now his knee.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard scored a touchdown before leaving the game with a hip innjury.
Insight: The score saved his fanatsy-day, as he had only 45 yards on 16 carries, along with two catches for two yards. As long as he is able to suit up for Week 9, Bernard will maintain his borderline RB1 status.
Description: Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu was a big fantasy disappointment in Week 7 against the Colts, but he likely gets another chance to star with A.J. Green not expected to go in Week 8.
Insight: Sanu only had three catches for 54 yards last weekend, but he did see nine targets. Andy Dalton has looked his way often when Green has been sidelined as indicated by his 32 targets in the past three games.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Insight: He was most likely limited as a result of taking a few big hits in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis. The injury is not considered serious, making Bernard an RB1 option for Week 8 against Baltimore.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard had his worst statistical game of 2014 against the Colts in Week 7.
Insight: Bernard was one of a handful of running backs who had scored at least five points in every single week going into Sunday. Bernard had just seven carries for 17 yards and a negative yard in the passing game.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was 18-for-38 for 126 yards on Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: Cincinnati was shutout in Indianapolis, so no one on offense did well. The Bengals were obviously effected by the absence of A.J. Green, but not being able to establish the running game against the Colts is more concerning. Dalton has proved throughout his career that his success hinges on an effective rushing attack.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green did not practice again on Friday and fantasy owners must plan on being without him on Sunday.
Insight: Green and coach Marvin Lewis have contradicted each other with the player saying he is week-to-week and the coach trying to hide the fact that his star isn't an option for Week 7. Obviously the player knows his own health better than the coach.
Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones was thought to be close to returning a few weeks ago, but hasn't gotten better and will see a specialist this week.
Insight: Jones suffered a setback to his ankle a week and a half ago. He has not played yet this season. The receiver who caught 10 touchdowns last season may end up not playing at all this season if surgery is required.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill was pretty disappointing in Week 6 against the Panthers.
Insight: Hill rushed eight times for 22 yards. He averaged just 2.8 yards per attempt while fellow running back Giovani Bernard gained 7.6 yards per carry. Hill did score a touchdown to make his day somewhat respectable.
Description: Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham was second on the team in targets and catches in Week 6 against the Panthers.
Insight: Without A.J. Green, Gresham finally took advantage the absence of fellow tight end Tyler Eifert. Gresham caught six passes for 68 yards and received seven targets. If Green does not suit up again, and he is already doubtful, then Gresham is another solid TE start against the Colts next week.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green is doubtful for Week 7 as we hear conflicting views from player and coach.
Insight: Green said he expected to miss Week 7, but coach Marvin Lewis said he "has a shot" to suit up. Sounds like coach-speak to try and confuse the opponents. His absence l,ast Sunday turned Mohamed Sanu into a fantasy stud.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard had a monster game Sunday against the Panthers.
Insight: He had 137 yards on 18 carries, including an 89-yard touchdown run. Bernard left the game with a shoulder injury, but did return. However, while he was out, Jeremy Hill was able to manage a touchdown. Assuming he is healthy, Bernard will be a RB1.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw for 323 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions Sunday against Carolina.
Insight: It was a solid outing for Dalton, as he navigated the Bengals into field goal range at the end of overtime, only to see Mike Nugent miss the attempt. Dalton will be a borderline QB1 moving forward.
Description: Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu should be the Bengals No. 1 receiver in Week 6 with A.J. green sidelined.
Insight: Sanu has been involed this season even with Green around. He's caught 17 balls for 234 yards and a pair of scores. he's also 2-for-2 as a passer for 68 yards and a touchdown (158.3 passer rating).
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green was was carted off the practice field Wednesday, after appearing to aggravate his pre-existing toe injury and according to Ian Rapoport is not expected to play Sunday.
Insight: He is now doubtful for Week 6 and fantasy owners should make alternate plans. His absence would boost Mohamed Sanu's fantasy value and Marvin Jones if he makes it onto the field.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green was was carted off the practice field Wednesday, after appearing to aggravate his preexisting toe injury.
Insight: It seems he did it while stretching, and according to Coley Harvey, Green threw off his shoe in disgust, and hopped onto the cart. He is now extremely questionable for Week 6. We will update Green's status once we know more.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was held in check for most of the night by a tough New England defense.
Insight: It didn't help that the Bengals fell behind by two touchdowns at halftime, but in truth, they got nothing going for most of the night and the Patriots offense held the ball for 38:56 minutes to 21:04 for the Bengals.
Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones was hoping to be activated for Sunday night's game against New England, but after missing a third straight practice its getting unlikely.
Insight: Jones took part in two practices last week and but missed them all this week. He posted 712 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns last season. Mohamed Sanu should get anolther game as the No. 2 guy across from A.J. Green.
Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones could be activated for Sunday night's game against New England.
Insight: Jones took part in two practices last week and should be in every practice this week. In fact, the Cincinnati Enquirer says he's expected to return, so get ready. He posted 712 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns last season.
Description: Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu passes for touchdown.
Insight: On a trick play Sanu received the ball from Andy Dalton, who then returned the ball on a forward pass, resulting in an 18-yard touchdown reception. He also wound up with five catches for 44 yards, on eight targets. Sanu is worthy of a look in 12-to-14 team leagues.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green battles toe injury and produces 100-yard game.
Insight: He had six catches for 102 yards to be exact, and seemed to be moving just fine. The Bengals have their bye during Week 4, which should help Green get completely healthy. He is in line for a monster year.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard scores twice in Bengals victory.
Insight: He did not total huge yardage, with 47 yards on 14 carries and seven yards on one reception, however, he made fantasy owners happy with his two scores. Jeremy Hill continues to see snaps (7 rushes for 39 yards and 1 TD), which may be the only roadblock for Bernard moving forward. He still remains a borderline RB1.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton makes impact in receiving game.
Insight: While he was 15-of-23 for only 169 yards and one interception, Dalton's big highlight came on a trick play, when he caught a pass from Mohamed Sanu, and ran the ball 18 yards into the end zone, for his first career TD reception. With Cincinnati leading big early, Dalton was able to just manage the game. He should bounce back next time out.
Description: Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict (concussion) is officially out Sunday versus the Titans.
Insight: Burfict has been forced out of both games thus far, and now durability is becoming an issue. Cincinnati will hope to get their star linebacker back for Week 5, as the bengals have their bye during Week 4. Vincent Rey will start in Burfict's OLB spot.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green (toe) ready to go versus Tennessee.
Insight: His status continued to improve throughout the week, and is now officially active. Green always brings WR1 upside, but expectations should be hampered as he is dealiing with this toe injury. Mohamed Sanu's impact takes a bit of a hit, with Green playing.
Description: Bengals wideout Dane Sanzenbacher could see his targets take a jump in Week 3 if A.J. Green's toe keeps him out of the lineup.
Insight: Sanzenbacher would only be a one-game option as the Bengals have a bye in Week 4 and by Week 5 Green is likely to be fully ready to play again. Sanzenbacher caught two balls for 42 yards in a substitute role last Sunday.
Description: Bengals receiver Mohamed Sanu will likely play a major role in Week 3 with A.J. Green likely joining Marvin Jones on the sidelines.
Insight: Sanu produced a 76-yard touchdown catch against the Falcons to produce double-digits fantasy points, a big jump from Week 1. He's a solid fantasy option if A.J. Green is not ready to play in Week 3.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has played mistake-free football over the first two games this season, but hasn't posted great fantasy numbers.
Insight: He's thrown for just one touchdown in each game while averaging 276.5 ypg. He could be without A.J. Green (toe) in Week 3 in addition to already sidelined Marvin Jones (foot) which may force the Bengals to feature the ground game.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green left Sunday's game against the Falcons with a strained toe ligament and is doubtful for Week 3.
Insight: Green could sit Week 3 and then with a Week 4 bye get three weeks until he has to test the toe. Dane Sanzenbacher and Brandon Tate would play opposite Mohamed Sanu if Green sits. It's a huge blow to fantasy owners and the Bengals.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill gained 94 yards from scrimmage on 17 touches in Week 2 against the Falcons.
Insight: Hill did not get much playing time in Week 1, so it was great to see him get on the field. With a huge lead, the Bengals featured both Bernard, who had 32 touches, and Hill. The rookie will likely continue to improve as the season goes and clearly has more value than just a handcuff back.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard gained 169 yards from scrimmage and scored a rushing touchdown on 32 touches.
Insight: Bernard had an incredible 19 touchdowns in the first half with 16 carries for 52 yards. The running back was not exactly efficient as that averages out to 3.25 yards per carry, but fantasy owners love the fact Bernard has turned into a work horse. He mostly maintained that pace in the second half. Bernard is a top fantasy running back in any format.
When Tucker asked Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis about how touches would be split, Lewis said, "A smart guy would say Gio gets a little bit more." Good news for both Bernard and Hill fans, who are curious as to how the workload will be shared. We expect Bernard to get about 16-18 touches a game, which puts him close to 300 on the season, and Hill will get between 10 and 14 carries. Bernard will be featured much more in the passing game.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green left Sunday's game against the Falcons with a toe injury and is questionable to return. UPDATE: Green will not return on Sunday.
Insight: Green headed to the locker room about halfway though the first quarter. It now appears that this was the injury that put Green on the injury report this week even though he was officially listed with a foot injury. Dane Sanzenbacher will play opposite Mohamed Sanu until Green returns if he does.
Early week missing of practice is never that important as we see here. He's a fantasy stud who has improved each season and off his 131-yard, one-touchdown season opener appears to be continuing the trend.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green will play Week 2 according to coach Marvin Lewis.
Insight: Early week missing of practice is never that important as we see here. He's a fantasy stud who has improved each season and off his 131-yard, one-touchdown season opener appears to be continuing the trend.
Description: Bengals receiver A.J. Green did not practice on Thursday due to a foot injury.
Insight: It's somewhat of a concern as Green was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday. Cincinnati is probably just taking it easy on their star wide out, but we will check back on his status Friday afternoon.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill played just 10-of-67 offensive snaps in the Bengals' Week 1 victory to the Ravens.
Insight: The widely heralded rookie running back from LSU was not as involved with the offense as anticipated. Cincinnati played a pass-first approach on Sunday, which was surprising and led to fewer opportunities for Hill. Meanwhile, Gio Bernard owners are extremely pleased as he played on the other 57 snaps. Hill should see more time as the season progresses, but owners will have to take the wait-and-see approach.
Description: The Bengals are hopeful tight end Tyler Eifert will only miss a few weeks according to FOX's Jay Glazer.
Insight: Eifert dislocated his right elbow after making a catch in the first quarter against the Ravens on Sunday. Reportedly, the elbow "popped right back in" but the ligaments have to heal before he can return. Jermaine Gersham will play tight end on every down until Eifert gets back, but Gresham will not produce the same kind of receiving numbers as Eifert could.
Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Insight: According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, the Bengals hope to have receiver Marvin Jones (foot) back for Week 5. A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu will get most of targets at receiver, but the Bengals will likely deploy a heavy running attack with Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill.
Description: Bengals running back Giovani Bernard is still expected to get more touches than rookie running back Jeremy Hill according to Ross Tucker of NBC Sports.
Insight: When Tucker asked Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis about how touches would be split, Lewis said, "A smart guy would say Gio gets a little bit more." Good news for both Bernard and Hill fans, who are curious as to how the workload will be shared. We expect Bernard to get about 16-18 touches a game, which puts him close to 300 on the season, and Hill will get between 10 and 14 carries. Bernard will be featured much more in the passing game.
Description: Fantasy owners don't have to worry about BenJarvus Green-Ellis taking carries from Giovani Bernard or Jeremy Hill as he was cut Friday from the 53-man roster.
Insight: Giovani Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill have shown in preseason they can get the job done and both have solid fantasy value. Bernard is the starter and is even more valuable in PPR leagues, but Hill is going to get plenty of work.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill rushed 20 times for 90 yards and caught all six of his targets for 70 yards in Cincinnati's preseason finale Thursday.
Insight: Hill was impressive as the every-down back with Gio Bernard resting. He did leave the game with an elbow injury but returned to action. We are still unsure how Hill will be used, so he is not worth starting Week 1, but he looks to be at least a very capable handcuff.
Description: Bengals running back Jeremy Hill left Thursday's preseason finale with an elbow injury.
Insight: Hill saw a somewhat surprising 20 touches in two quarters of action Thursday. Hill generated 123 all-purpose yards, while catching all five of his targets. His one bad play was a blown blocking assignment that resulted in a quarterback sack. The elbow injury is believed to be minor, and it continues to look like Hill will see more touches than originally forecast.
Description: Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson wrote "it looks like (Giovani) Bernard and (Jeremy) Hill could both get about 200 attempts" on the ground this season.
Insight: Hill ran very well in the Bengals' third preseason game. Hobson speculated that BenJarvus Green-Ellis would not make the roster and thus leave Hill with the change-of-pace back role this year. The rookie is certainly the best between-the-tackles runner Cincinnati has and he could steal a few touchdowns from Bernard. Hill is a great pick at his current ADP of the 10th round and Bernard's value takes a bit of a hit as many thought he would reach 300 touches. That will be tough if Hill really gets 200 carries.
Description: Bengals rookie running back Jeremy Hill (shoulder) returned to practice Tuesday.
Insight: He left Saturday's preseason game with a shoulder injury. Hill is expected to fill the BenJarvus Green-Ellis role this season, but Giovani Bernard is going to see a bump in touches and could also get goal-line carries so Hill's value will be limited to the flex spot.
Description: Bengals rookie running back Jeremy Hill left Saturday's preseason game with a right shoulder injury, but tweeted "I'm fine" late Saturday night.
Insight: Hill is expected to fill the BenJarvus Green-Ellis role this season, but Giovani Bernard is going to see a bump in touches and could also get goal-line carries so Hill's value will be limited to the flex spot.
Description: Bengals rookie running back Jeremy Hill left Saturday's preseason game with a right shoulder injury, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.com.
Insight: BenJarvus Green-Ellis saw 220 carries and rushed for seven touchdowns as the Bengals' power back last year, but he gained just 3.4 ypc. Hill is expected to fill that role this season, but Giovani Bernard is going to see a bump in touches and could also get goal-line carries so Hill's value will be limited to the flex spot.
Description: According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard could get a "good share" of the goal-line carries as well as 300 total touches.
Insight: Even if he doesn't get all of the goal-line carries, Bernard still has RB1 upside this season due to his expected workload spike and explosiveness in the receiving game. The team drafted bruising back Jeremy Hill to replace ineffective BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but it sounds like Bernard could get a crack at some short TDs too.
Description: According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, the Bengals hope to have receiver Marvin Jones (foot) back for Week 5.
Insight: Jones, who had 712 yards and 10 touchdowns on 80 targets last season, had to get a pin inserted into his fifth metatarsal for a broken foot. Coach Marvin Lewis' assertion that Jones would be out "a couple of weeks" was wildly unrealistic. Mohamed Sanu will take over as the team's No. 2 receiver.
Description: While Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said receiver Marvin Jones (foot) will miss "a couple of weeks" with a broken foot, Geoff Hobson of bengals.com says the receiver will likely be out 5-6 weeks.
Insight: Jones, who had 712 yards and 10 touchdowns on 80 targets last season, had to get a pin inserted into his fifth metatarsal. A similar injury kept Mohamed Sanu out for the last five weeks of the 2012 regular season as well as the playoffs. Sanu will take Jones' place as the No. 2 receiver.
Description: Bengals receiver Marvin Jones has been activated from the NFI list.
Insight: He rolled his ankle at a passing camp organized by Andy Dalton after OTAs. Mohamed Sanu has reportedly looked good in training camp, but Jones was listed as the No. 2 wideout on the first depth chart. The 24-year-old played limited snaps last season but was a red-zone monster who caught 10 touchdowns. He's expected to get more playing time this year, but the Bengals are also expected to cut down on their passing attempts under new OC Hue Jackson. Consider him a WR4.
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has agreed to a deal to keep him in Cincinnati through 2020.
Insight: While other quarterbacks garnered lots of attention, Dalton put up sneaky good numbers last season - 4,296 yards, 33 passing TDs, 2 rushing TDs. He's still yet to win an NFL playoff game, but he was very good to fantasy owners, particularly his Week 16 effort (27-for-38, 366 yards, 4 TDs) in what for many was the fantasy championship round.
Description: Rookie running back Jeremy Hill has been playing ahead of BenJarvus Green-Ellis in training camp, according to ESPN.com.
Insight: Green-Ellis seemingly is closer to losing his third-string job to Cedric Peerman or Rex Burkhead than he is to catching Hill. The Bengals drafted Hill (6-1, 238 lbs) out of LSU in the second round to serve as the team's between-the-tackles rusher. Green-Ellis carried the ball 220 times and scored seven touchdowns last season but ran for 3.4 yards per carry. Giovani Bernard is going to get more than 170 carries in 2014, but Cincinnati is also going to run the ball more often under new OC Hue Jackson so Hill could see 200 carries.
Description: Bengals RBs coach Kyle Caskey is thinking 260-300 touches for new starter RB Giovani Bernard in 2014.
Insight: Bernard had 695 rushing yards on 170 carries, 514 receiving yards on 56 catches and eight total touchdowns as a rookie while splitting time with BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Now a starter with a more run-heavy gameplan expected, it's certainly not unreasonable. In our projections we are expecting 264 touches, 1,437 total yards and 10 touchdowns.
Description: The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr. expects BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Rex Burkhead to battle for one roster spot in camp.
Insight: Giovani Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill are guaranteed spots and Dehner thinks Cedric Peerman is as well because he plays on special teams. Even if Green-Ellis makes the team, he won't see the field much and shouldn't be drafted in any leagues.
Description: Cincinnati tight end Tyler Eifert won't participate in OTAs. SOURCE: Bengals.com
Insight: He's dealing with a shoulder injury though the severity is unknown. Eifert (39 catches, 445 yards, 2 TD in 2013) was unable to distance himself from Jermaine Gresham last season and the two figure to split playing time again in 2014.
