Week 16 Player Fantasy Rankings - Defenses
By Steve Schwarz, Fantasy Sports Editor
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks come off a dominating performance in New York against the Giants and Eli Manning and head home to the friendly, and very noisy, confines of CenturyLink Field as our top choice for defense/special team in "Championship Week."
Seattle faces turnover-prone Carson Palmer, who may be without star receiver Larry Fitzgerald (possible concussion) and should be ready to put some defensive points on the board. Palmer has thrown 17 interceptions, been sacked 38 times and fumbled six times through 14 games.
We also recommend the San Francisco 49ers who host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16. The 49ers have yielded 20 points or more just one time in the last eight games. They face Matt Ryan and the Falcons who have struggled all season on offense and haven't put up more than 285 yards in offense over the past two games.
The Kansas City Chiefs are also on the recommended list. While they haven't been sacking the quarterback as frequently as they did at the start of the season, they have continued to score points from the defense/special teams through other means. The Chiefs have turned five interceptions, two fumbles, two punt returns and a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns. That's 11 non- offensive touchdowns for those without a calculator in front of them.
